Hey, that's great. That is exactly what I am doing with the web page. The only reason I want to get the web page up on here is that it is more accessible to the average user.

Thanks a lot for posting that.

I'll be happy to put up your great work on my site, until, say, GTPlanet wants to have it of course. But i have some spare bandwidth so it can stay there for a while too. 👍

Hello everyone, I've been a member for a very long time under the name of torero, but i couldn't post. :grumpy:

Now i can.... changed the name though.

Anyway, how about using a new unit to classify the cars? If we call power/weight ratio "PW points", (the fonetic sound should be something like "peewee points"). We could classify the cars by "cost of PW points". This is,

= price/PW

therfore the less the better... it is something like a quality-price ratio.

.... this should be usefull especially at the beggining. When choosing your first car...

Arwin,

It would be great if you could do that. I know Jordan is busy running the site. So, it might be awhile before GTPlanet could host it. If you could email me at :

rfuller2 at midsouth dot rr dot com

and I could email you the ZIP file. The file is 1.33MB when compressed and 2.21MB when extracted. Thanks again for the offer. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

I noticed that the most recent version of the list has been coded so it can't be hosted on foreign websites. What was the reason for that?

I am not sure about the incompatibility with foreign hosting. I am self-taught in HTML, so there is a lot of stuff I still don't know.

I have uploaded the newest version, and it is now a linked HTML page. Just click an go, nothing to download.

Also, the Power to Weight (or more accurately, Weight:Power) is now in kg/PS to fit more with the units in the game. Lower is better.

Also, added a VALUE column which is figured as Cost / Weight:Power. So, lower is better there, also.

It was the Skyline GT-R (Gran Turismo Pace Car).

Here's a pic:

nice work jkrobby,

By the way, tinkering around with the list i was quite disapointed when using filtered results to find "the right" starting car, the only non-japanese car was a pontiac vibe GT. :yuck: followed by the ford Taurus

Its value rate (a bit modified though with more variables by me) was way behind of about a hundred japanese cars.

The used market has only taken in consideration asian preferences. European cars are simply too expensive.

Conclusion: I´ve heard news on another part of the forum (sorry don't remember the author) which sates that the european version will have more european cars and less japanese. :D If thats true, which makes perfect sense to me and also the competition i.e. Forza has included this factor, then the used car market will also be modified in accordance. More cars and different prices. I will finnally be able to start with my beautifull VW GOLF GTI! :)

I am just saying this because you are going to have a lot of info changed when the other versions come out! thats a lot of work, so i offer myself to give a hand with it.

Cheers

I will definitely take you up on that offer. When the US/PAL versions are released I would like to really concentrate on getting a reliable formula together for Overall Performance and use that to do a better Bang-for-your-Buck type comparison.

That is what i've been trying for a bit know... take a look at famines car list thread... There we start to rammble upon some ideas...

Let me say that we don't get anywhere, but it can be used as a source of inspiration :P ... The only tough thing to get a measurable value is handling. I am working on it...

Cheers

COBRAGT:: I agree with you, I think its very intresting and makes sooo much sense. this proves that the guys at PD are very japanese (35 imprezas, and 54 skylines) but aren´t stupid.

again...

When will you be able to get pictures of the Lotus Elise GT1 up?

You mean this one ?

I am in the process of consolidating all the images and add in the missing ones. But it takes time and I am starting to get busy, much less time playing games later on. Don't know when I can consolidate all.

After looking at 2 official lists, what is the total amount of cars in the game?
706 or 742?

Well, that depends on how you want to count. Here's the breakdown:

735 Cars in the QRG.

735 of those have links to actual in-game pics.

715 of those are unique cars,

the other 20 are duplicates of a new car in used form.

Here are the 20 cars which are duplicated in both new and used form:
Audi TT 1.8T Quattro ('00)
Fiat 500F ('65)
Honda N360 ('67)
Honda S500 ('63)
Honda S600 ('64)
Honda S800 ('66)
Honda Z Act ('70)
Isuzu 117 Coupé ('68)
Isuzu Bellett 1600 GT-R ('69)
Jensen-Healey Interceptor Mk.III ('74)
Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evolutione ('91)
Mazda Carol 360 Deluxe ('62)
Mazda Cosmo Sport (L10B) ('68)
Mercury Cougar XR-7 ('67)
Mitsubishi Colt Galant GTO MR ('70)
Nissan Bluebird 1600 Deluxe (510) ('69)
Nissan Fairlady 2000 (SR311) ('68)
Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R (KPGC110) ('73)
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 ('85)
Toyota Celica 1600GT (TA22) ('70)

Are the black race cars exactly the same as the regular race cars? If so, that would lower the total unique cars to 713. Do you know offhand what the other 7 cars not on the359’s list are?

Actually, The359's list has 714 cars on it. I am not sure why it says 706.

Wow, I don't even know what to say. That ended up working out far better than I ever could have imagined. Thank you all so much for your hard work!
