Nice theme, a welcome change for this comp which I think has too many entries that are over the top sometimes. It's tailor-made for atlop I'd say.

Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features. In other fields of art, it has been used to describe the novels of Ernest Hemingway, the plays of Samuel Beckett, the films of Robert Bresson, the stories of Raymond Carver, and even the automobile designs of Colin Chapman, among others.

so to further explain, he's asking for clean, understated pictures that look beautiful without using too much frills and very little detail.

How come people don't know what minimalism is? The clue is in the name....minimalism... :scared:

I have never heard of the word. And I kind of understand after jgda9rs explanation, but it's a rather confusing explanation of the theme in the rules. But I take it you just want a plain, boring shot?👍 👎

No, not boring or plain, minimalism is to create something different, stylish, using as few elements as possible. Don't overcomplicate your shot. Simple is best.

How has anybody with even a passing interest in any of the arts not heard of the word?

I think it's a great theme Moglet, and that old Miata shot of yours would've been perfect (as well as Arsenal's old Speed 8). Agreeing with Arsenal about the fact this week seems right up Atlop's alley; it's good to see that people will have to focus on composition and artistic aspects as opposed to the default "OMG ZOOM BLUR!!!!11oneeleventyone" attitude.

lol. just think armani suits! to be minimal, it means basically, be simple. so for example, think of an artwork that has the very least color/effects and or details. just focus mainly on the subject, and somehow make it beautiful and interesting. think of those understated armani suits. it's quite a simple design, but still packs a lot of character and beauty. so like i said, strip down the elements, focus on the subject, and make something out of it. make it really interesting by making it really really simple.

Thanks for clearing that one up 👍

I thought it was something like it but one can never be sure enough 👍

Looks like Contrast and Saturation are my best friends this week

Very good & unusual theme, Moglet. 👍
I wasn't quite sure how to go about incorporating the theme into my shot.. then I decided to do a 'minimal' view of the subject type shot, hope it's acceptable. :scared:

You can enter a plain, boring shot if you really want to...
Basically, i'm after shots with not too many visual elements in. A good example would be my recent Supra entry into the Head2Head contest. It was very basic and had very basic colours. With those colours toned down a bit it would be quite minimalistic because not a lot is going on.

A lot of the blur shots are actually quite minimal because the background detail is kept to a minimum. People can enter in whichever way they want to interpret the theme though, i won't be judging people on their abilities to follow a style perfectly!

Lol thanks for putting pressure on me guys. Since Arsenal started it I'll steal his color scheme for this week's shot. :) Just kidding, it was not intentional, sorry. :scared:

Actually I think the ultimate challenge this week would be to take all the beauty, elegance, excitement and coolness of automotive history and compress it into one line or form. I really would like to do something lot more minimalist, if I figure out how I'll resubmit. But like I said, great theme. 👍

This is gonna be hard. finding the right solution to suit the theme, it's gonna be interesting.thank god i don't get to pick the top ten
