Yeah I had this mag and used if for 'inspiration' you could say. Looks like you did too...OH WELL. Im gonna redo it anyway. The more I looked at Vicious' I thought I needed to step it up. No way this would compete with that...at least in this forum anyway.
I may just sit this one out Im rather busy at work so I doubt I'll have time to start over anyway. We shall see...

I know this is a bit late, but here's an example of a drift mag cover for anyone needing ideas.
*Note: not my submission for the comp
I was lucky to get a hold of this. I bought a different mag about two weeks ago (Australian Hot4s) and I didn't realise it came with two free mags, High Performance Imports and the first issue of Drift Battle, which I think is Australia's only drift mag at the moment.

This week is looking awesome! There are some REALLY great creations on hand.
Easy$$, that is some of your best work. It is a bummer that you and eastly have the same mag for a reference. I guess that is why I don't look at any of them and do my own thing.
That is great Suz. I still think it is a bit dark or has too much contrast, but as I said earlier, the layout is sweet!
Yarble, this is some good stuff. I like that you put part of your S2000 over the title and I LOVE the bottom treatment.
Eastly, you and Easy need to quit sharing a brain. But in all honesty, this is a great cover as well.
The only thing that I can say about most of the BG used on these covers is: spend some time on "fixing" the bad parts of the cars. Remove all you can of the bad shading attempt that GT4 uses on the cars. Blur it or smudge them out. Try to make the car look as real as possible. On the side views, try to round out the tires and wheel wells - they can look pretty nasty on some cars. I spent a total of almost 5 yours cleaning up these bad boys - trying to remove the GT4 from them.
You can even change the lighting on the parts of the cars that seem too dark with a levels adjustment layer. Just create a layer that make the car look the way you want it, without worrying about the rest of the image. Now fill the adjustment layer with BLACK to remove it's effects completely, and then use your BRUSH (set to white) to paint the areas you wanted lightened back in.
Keep up the GREAT work all, and I am happy to be somewhat of a motivating factor for some of you - just doing my job!

I am hoping PD will not remove photomode feature in future GT
at least we can still play around, but with better graphic
so we photoshop users don't have to do clean up stuff like Vicious mentioned
I am going to work on mine tonite, hope I can finish up before Sat

How the hell do you drift??!?!?! Ive tried every setting, technique what not and I can not seem to get it AT ALL. The HKS silvia pic I got lucky with...other than that I for the life of me cannot get any decent drift shots. Which is one of the other reasons I never finished my cover this week. If you have any hints, can point me somewhere to some info, anything that would be a huge help.

The easiest way is to turn OFF all traction control. You will be drifting like a big dog!Easy$$

I only able to finish a drift 1 out of 30 tries
most of the time the car snap back because I oversteer too much
but anyhow I usually take picture before the car snap back
usually looks good with lots of smoke

The "MAY 2005" is way too far apart.. the pic is decent.. i think your fonts are the only real issue.. maybe download a few of them, and see which ones would work, because the ones you've chosen are.. bland? ... and "sideways" is all jaggy, like it was cut-out of another image.. i'm sure you could find a font that looks like a neon-sign if needs-be.. but i do like the concept, picture & title, its just the fonts that ruin it.

I decided to get involved this week, and wouldn't you know it, some of the nicest looking stuff so far has been showing up good job, you guys.
My cover is on the "polishing" stage ATM, but I was wondering if there is some ready-made vector art you guys are using for bar codes. If so, that would be über hot.
