Unfortunately. Chemistry II.
I f:censored:g hate it. (<--- Sorry for the language, but when it's needed, it's needed)

Chemestry II is the sux0r!!!!1!1!1!!1111!!!!1111111111!!111!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!
(<--- Again, sorry for the stupidity, but when it's needed, it's needed)
:D I graduated in chemistry 10 years ago (my graduation project was about "ultraviolet polymerization of alpha-octadecylacrylic acid in Langmuir-Blodgett multi-layers", in case anybody cares. It's always tough to say it in a normal conversation, so I'm pretty happy to have done it right now).
Back to the topic (almost) : you're italian, Citta di Aria is located in Italia, and even Avogadro was italian (born in Torino as I recall).
Why don't you just jump back in your Lancia Delta and bring the green/white/red flag on top spot this week ? ( ;) )

Edit :
Really back to the topic : I decide to race it in the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo. First lap in 1'27 (last T time I mean, not final time  ), with half a dozen spinning experiences. This one is gonna be tough.

ohhh i hate tight courses with a passion, but i did fairly well on this so far

T1- 32.763
T2- 58.223
and my finish time was faster than my goal gonna have to reset it

As soon as the nurb 4 hour finishes I'm gonna give this a try. This track is fun in my 750 hp R32. Let's see how much of a fight these group B monsters put up.

Okey Dokey, A few laps down now. Best T1, :32. something. Best T2, what can I say. 1:00. flat. Tail hapy SOB this thing is. The S4 that is, by the way.

Congratulations in graduating in something that I am not even going to attempt to try to pronounce 👍 :D

I was going to drop this WRS Warmup Race #3 altogether, as I am sure I could have had a shot at being competitive if everybody was running the Ford RS200. That car handles like a charm, it's glued to the asphalt, and doesn't have a natural momentum about its own centroidal vertical axis (in other words, it doesn't go in self spin mode whenever it feels like it).

The Lancia S4, on the other hand, is the complete opposite.
It's the sux0r, like Chemistry :D

Now, this track is frustrating enough by itself, by definition.
Therefore, I didn't want to have to fight with the track AND the car at the same time. One was enough.

Taking the Lancia S4 would mean increasing the frustration by a factor of pi squared (don't know why I picked this number, it just sounded cool).

So, I was going to drop the competition, period.

But, then, I saw your challenge.

And I thought: 'Am I going to chicken out now? I can't.'

Therefore, yes, I will jump into the Lancia S4, and try to put a decent lap together.
(Can't do it in the Lancia DELTA Integrale, though, as that car is not allowed in this race).

flat-out

I'll take it that you chose this car to bring 'the blue/white/red flag on top spot this week' - correct? ;)

Uhm... France VS Italy.
Sounds interesting.
I'll try to make up for that time when you all kicked our @sses at the Euro 2000 (2 - 1 :( ) :D  (Italy was in Group B, too - imagine the coincidence!)

Up for the challenge?
Me in an Italian Group B car of my choice (I can only choose the S4, unfortunately - so, not much of a choice here) and you in a French Group B car of your choice :sly:

Good luck.
I know I'll need it!

👍 👍 👍
I'm definitely in.
I haven't chosen the froggie car yet, I'll first run a few laps in the S4 so that I can choose something equivalent.
Hope you'll do better than the italian rugby team in the VI Nations tournament ;)

i dont think you will find anything equivalent of the S4, that thing is a monster.

Let us know if you do though :P :sly:

Ok, the new leaderboard is up. Looks like Small_Fryz is killing it :)

I don't know when I'll get a chance to run this, but hopefully I'll get a decent session in before the deadline.

Actually it seems I haven't unlocked the Lancia S4 yet.
I have two Lancia Delta from '91 and '92 but none of them is called S4.
I'll keep on trying the R5 Maxi Turbo '85 (no clean lap yet, that b*tch keeps spinning around when I'm not soft enough on the steering), or the Peugeot T16 if it looks easier to control.
I always thought the Austin Metro 6R4 was the most undriveable group-B, but the R5 Maxi Turbo is as bad tempered as the Metro :ouch:

Edit :
The Peugeot T16 doesn't handle much better then the R5 in these narrow streets. If GT4 was damage realistic I'd have already destroyed more R5 Maxi Turbo than they really produced and a dozen houses. :(

TCS and ASM are BANNED. Henri Toivanen didn't have them and it didn't do him any harm. No, wait....

 Sick but funny...

Unfortunately, I will not have any chance to take part this week since I will be on holiday as of tomorrow and will be busy tonight, which is a shame because I love this track... would have been great in reverse, although it's too tempting to catch some rather massive air midway through the lap...

I got around to taking a couple of laps in the Peugeot T16 last night, really makes one appreciate traction control (but I am trying to ween my self off of it...). This will be a fun one to tame, although I think I am going to try to win the rs200 for this one.

I started out with the Renault 5 Maxi a very unforgiving car, but still a fun drive, and was pulling T2s in the 1'01-02 range. Then I moved up to the Lancia S4, wow a moster which is scary fast on this narrow windy course. After 3 1 hour session I am almost maxed out
T1 31.799
T2 57.265
I might be able to chop another .2-.3 off will see. I f I can master that insane twisty section between T1 and T2 then my tines will drop. If i could only widen that section by 2-3-feet then it would be smoth sliding.......
Hey I can dream right?

Enough already with the warm ups! When are we gonna get the real GT4 WRS series underway? Is there any speculation as to the qualifying combination yet? I'm itching to start.

Be a little more patient. Kent just got back, after finally managing to fix his computer.

It won't be long, before we will have the Official GT4 WRS up and running 👍

Just enough time for me to look ridiculous in my R5 Maxi Turbo through Citta di Aria narrow streets. ;)

Pah! West-o'-the-Penniners.

I have zero official capacity here. I was just posting up unofficial warm-ups to get people used to competition in GT4 and any differences/similarities when compared to the previous 105 weeks of GT3.

Now big-boss-man Kent is back, expect to see an official Qualifying race (I have my suspicions what it will be) for GT4 soon...!

For the record, I'm not going to submit a time for this one. :embarrassed:

It has owned me, too frustrating in the S4. :banghead:

I like this track, just in something old and a lot slower. :dunce:

cmon tuff240, at least get a clean lap and submit that.

Ive been trying with my DFP and i can match the T1, but im still about 1.5 - 2 seconds off at the finish line, and i havnt had a clean DFP lap yet :(.

Famine
So you're going to walk it instead? :D
Well it would be safer, that's for sure. :P

Sorry, just not up for this amount of frustration.

It's like going out on a 1st date with a hot chick and getting in an argument. You want to keep going to see what happens, but at the same time you are ready to throw in the towel because it's just not worth the agony.

Since I'm not going to "get some" if I don't do this race, I'll walk thanks. ;)

I stuck with her... 8.5 years now. Yikes!

Out of interest, has anyone tried this in the Nissan 240RS Rally Car or the Renault 5 Maxi? I think the Starion might qualify too, although I'm not sure right now if it ever competed in Group B, it's got the power and is the right age...

Edit: Yes, the Starion is in.

Hi all,

Im new to these forums and im liking what i see here, expect to see a lot more of me round here, if thats ok?

I have an xport so i can clarify any times I get.

Can someone please tell me how i can unlock the s4 and is this challenge played forward or reverse on citta?

Thanks a lot,

Lee.

Oh and how do I get into a league? I see some people talking about divisions.

Knockout, Lee.

The track is Citta di Aria forward - I figured that with group B cars, that little hop into the chicaned section might prove too frustrating to be any fun.

The Delta S4 can be won at Rally d'Umbria (Citta di Aria) on Hard, which will then unlock it for Arcade Mode usage.

In actual fact, here's a list to unlock the eligible cars:
George Paris (NORMAL): RENAULT 5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car '85
Rally d' Umbria (HARD): LANCIA Delta S4 Rally Car '85
Rally d' Capri (HARD): FORD RS200 Rally Car '85
Grand Canyon (HARD): MITSUBISHI Starion 4WD Rally Car '84
George Paris (HARD): PEUGEOT 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 Rally Car '86
Swiss Alps (HARD): NISSAN Silvia 240RS Rally Car '85

The standard Peugeot 206 T16 Rally Car is available in arcade mode from the start.

Don't worry about divisions yet. The official WRS organiser has been unavailable for a little while, since the last GT3 race, so I started up these GT4 warmups to tide everyone over. He will, no doubt, have a totally new Qualifier for GT4, so, really, no-one has a division yet.

Fair play to you for organising these warm ups. I'm not having a go at you, I just yearn a proper race, that's all! LOL at the 'West-o'-the Penniners' comment.

15 years for me, and I'm still alive :sly:

I gave the R5 Maxi a try, but didn't get anything close to clean so far. Each turn is a challenge, or else you end up with a T2 at 1'27  like I did.
Even in the left downhill turn (after the first chicane and before the long right-hander ending in a hairpin) the slight slope is enough to make the car spin around if you stay flat-out. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
3 days left to make something clean.

Hi,

Trying to drive that S4 with a joypad and no tcs or asm is very hard. You should really allow us to decide whether we want to use them or not. Anyway, I wont be getting a time for this one in the S4 its too undriveable, ill test out the other cars, that nissan is a waste, far to slow.

Lee.

Every now and then the organiser will throw in a settings twist. They aren't always conducive to your driving style - although you may find they give you another edge you didn't previously have after running it for a week.

I'm somewhat of a purist when it comes to TCS/ASM. If it's not on the car in real life, I won't use it. It just so happens that this week I'm making it just that little trickier by making EVERYONE do it too. :D

Give the Ford RS200 Rally Car a try. It's very good on tarmac.

I finally have a clean reasonably close to "clean". Only 2 or 3 wall brushings here and there but a real car would have survived the lap.
T1 = 35.584
T2 = 1'04.932

Not close to anything fast by the times. The replay looked better :(

flat-out, I feel kinda ashamed to perpetuate our Challenge under these premises:
with the Lancia Delta S4 I can easily get below 1 minute at T2 (don't have a definite value, yet, as the laps are not 100% clean), while with the Renault 5 Maxi I was struggling to get anywhere close to 1'05 at T2).

Same driver (me ;)), at least 5-6 seconds difference at T2 with different cars.

As you can see the weapons are not exactly balanced :indiff:

What should we do about the Challenge?

I would just like to hear your input about it...

The Wizard.
