Me too!

Just popped in to see if the place had burned down or sommat!

No improvements from me since last post, might just go with those times. Haven't even played for a couple of nights- been busy watching Le Mans 24, and killin head-crabs,zombies and CP in HL2. Needed a break!

Neil

P.S. Has any else noticed how slow the site's running? This afternoon, it took me 4 retrys before even the site was found, and even now it can take up to 45 secs to refresh ( and i'm on a speed-checked 2.2Mbps adsl/broadband connection, so it ain't me)

Nah, site has been running fine for me, so maybe you have a 'hub' having problems between you and the GTP server?

Prob right, Nat

Seems to be improving now

Neil

Site is running fine for me as well. Was anyone else as appalled and annoyed with the FIA as me after today's USGP 🤬 ?? This is just another example of how the idiots in charge (Eccelstone and Mosley) are driving F1 into the ground. They effectively ended all interest in F1 in the United States today and I doubt they'll even sell 10,000 tickets next year, if there is a USGP next year....

Off topic, I know!

From what i heard it was the tyre manufacturer who informed all the teams that there could be a safety problem, and they advised that the teams using their tyres shouldn't run!
HOWEVER.........I do agree, it was a complete and total farse, and heads should roll!

Have lost interest in F1 over the years,(no-one overtakes, boring, Blah,Blah), God i remember watchin Senna,Mansell et al and being out of my seat during some of the races.
But this year have tried to get back into it, and was 'sort of' starting to enjoy........Not now!

Think i'll stick to the bikes, British super's,world super's, Moto GP, and AMA! Better action, and more excitement than you can shake a stick at!

Also it costs less than £50/$92 to spend a whole weekend camping AT the site for a whole weekend (tickets/camping/paddock-pit access- thursday nite till sunday evening) BARGIN! Plus, on some tracks you can camp so close to the track (actually inside the track) that all you have to do is roll out of the tent, start the barby to cook breakfast, and sit munchin bacon rolls while the bikes roar past during practise! Heaven!

Man, I can run a semi-consistent 24.8xx T1, but I keep losing it all on T2 ... I just can't get below 1'06.3xx ... and alll I'm after is an extra .3 or .4 at the line, but can I get it? Can I hell. And, of course, my arms and hands are shaking, and my herat beating out of it's chest after I just ran a near-miss. Damn you WRS .... DAYUM YOU!!!!

Time submitted!

Beat my personal goal with splits i posted, so i am happy!

Let's see what happens on Tuesday!

I agree with their decision (Michelin teams) not to race as there was a saftey issue. What I don't understand is why the FIA did not allow Michelin to fly in new tires for them to use at the start of the race??? All they had to do was to let the Bridgestone runners put on fresh tires as well, and then the event could have gone on without a problem.

I too remember watching Senna, probably the greatest driver of our time, go at it, its what first got me into F1. There is still some good racing although it doesn't go on at the front of the pack...hopefully they'll get their acts together and F1 can get back to when it was great. But like you said, those days of Senna, Mansell, Prost, etc... are probably gone and there is better racing to watch in other series. Such a shame.

U.S. Grand Prix Has Depleted Field After Safety Fiasco
M. Schumacher Wins Six-Car Race in Indianapolis
By JENNA FRYER, AP Sports

INDIANAPOLIS (June 19) - Michael Schumacher climbed from his car to a chorus of boos, the die-hard Formula One fans unable to accept his first victory of the season after more than two-thirds of the field quit in protest over tire safety.

Sparking a fiasco for a series desperate to capture the American audience, Michelin advised the 14 cars it supplies that its tires were unsafe for the final banked turn at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Unable to forge a compromise, all 14 Michelin teams ducked off the track after the warmup lap Sunday, leaving Schumacher and the five other drivers who use Bridgestone tires to race among themselves.

Fans headed for the exits in disgust, drivers were left bewildered and track officials joined team members in speaking afterward as if the United States Grand Prix itself is in jeopardy.

Schumacher returned to the podium, but there was no champagne toast for the Ferrari team on this Sunday.

"Bit of a strange Grand Prix," Schumacher said. "Not the right way to win my first one this year."

When an agreement couldn't be reached over the use of fresh tires or the placement of a chicane to slow the cars going into turn 13, the Michelin teams pulled off the track and parked in a unified protest.

"I feel terrible. I have a sick feeling in my stomach," David Coulthard said after pulling out of the race. "I am embarrassed to be a part of this."

The situation created a farce of a race for F-1, the world's most popular series. And it couldn't have happened at a worse venue: The series is already struggling to build an American fan base, and Indy officials were left unsure of the event's future.

"Undoubtedly, this sets us back in all of our efforts or all of the gains we've made in introducing this sport to America," said Joie Chitwood, track president. He declined to speculate on if the race would be back at Indy next season.

But even the Ferrari team, which finally scored its first win of the season, acknowledged that the series' future in the U.S. is in trouble.

"I wish we can come back to the States, this is a very important country and our No. 1 market," said Ferrari boss Jean Todt. "But this is a very bad day for our sport and I feel bad for the supporters."

Many blamed Ferrari itself - the Italian team was the lone holdout in a series of compromises the nine other teams frantically tried to reach.

After two Michelin tires failed in Friday practice sessions - one causing a wreck that prevented Ralf Schumacher from competing - the tiremaker ruled that its rubber was unsafe for this track.

Michelin was rebuffed when it asked the FIA, the series governing body, to ease its rule forbidding teams to change tires after qualifying. The FIA also refused to consider installing a chicane.

So Michelin advised its teams not to compete after a lengthy morning meeting between nine team bosses (Ferrari did not attend), F-1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA. At one point, all 20 drivers were summoned to the meeting.

The nine teams even agreed to race for no points, as long as the obstacle was added to the course.

All of them said Ferrari would not agree to any of the proposals. Todt denied that Ferrari held up any deals, and said any decisions were left to the FIA. However, he said Ferrari would have protested the use of a chicane.

The teams worked up until the final moments for a resolution, even lining up on the grid and taking the warm-up lap. Then they pulled off, climbing out of their cars at the same time the remaining six drivers started the race.

The crowd was stunned, with fans pointing and gawking as they tried to figure out what was going on. Some booed. Others threw water bottles on the track in disgust.

"If I was a fan out there I would do the same," said driver Jacques Villeneuve, a former Indianapolis 500 winner.

After just 10 laps, many spectators began heading for the exits.

Indy officials said they had not yet discussed offering refunds, and track boss Tony George issued a statement urging fans to direct their frustration to Michelin, the FIA and F-1's management.

This event already draws just a fraction of what other races here do. Less than 100,000 come to this race, compared to a crowd in excess of 300,000 for the Indianapolis 500. Sunday's debacle will do nothing to improve that.

"Quite frankly, the fans got cheated," Ecclestone said.

Scott Brombacher, a fan from California, said he was disgusted as he left.

"I love Formula One... it just aggravates me," Brombacher said. "I spent a lot of money and took a week off from work to come out here. To have all this happen at the last minute is just disgusting."

The United States is the rare country that has not embraced the world's top racing series, and teams have been working hard to tap into the lucrative market.

All seven teams that pulled out of the race signed a single statement apologizing for the debacle.

"We are totally aware that the USA is an important market for Formula One and there is an obligation for Formula One to promote itself in a positive and professional manner," it said.

Among those refusing to race were world championship points leader Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, who trails him in the standings by 22 points.

Alonso is F-1's biggest threat this season to end Schumacher's five-year reign as world champion. But when he and the other contenders pulled out of the event, it opened the door for seven-time world champion Schumacher to climb back.

Schumacher entered the event 35 points behind Alonso, but cut the deficit to 25 with the victory - well within striking distance with 10 events left this season.

I personally think it was fair of the 14 drivers to protest, but it wasn't right of them to do it right after the warm-up lap. Some people don't seem to realize that these drivers put their lives on the line to entertain us(that and go really really fast). It's THEIR call, not the fans, their owners, or even the managers of F1 if they race. Their safety was on the line and FIA did nothing to try and make the race safer.

I'm just sad I had to work or else I would've like to watch it all go down.

Um ... I was about to come in here and rant a little about wasting an hour of my life tear assing around the track with 408HP (because apparently no one in my pit has a can of oil on them) ... but I feel like I'm posting off topic now. I'll ... um ... go back to my racing, I guess.

Sorry Nat, it was us posting off-topic :guilty:

What you're talking about is really interesting - I've found it a great read - but my litle rant about the race at Monaco seems strangely out of place now ... and boring :(

Gonna PM ya!

...

God, I suck so damn bad ... this is killing me. I'm easily a second off the pace for the final time and I can't get anywhere close to it.

New splits

T1-24.455
T2-1'05.182

Probably submit this one although am not happy with final sector.
Using Holl01's first setup. Couldn't get the second one to work for me. I also modified his first one a bit by adjusting shift curve. The car seems to handle slightly differently on the DS2? I am losing some time at the hairpin after T1, and like luxy, am also going to full lock or close to it. Tried a wider line coming in, but can't make it faster.

I would be curious as to how other people are entering this hairpin. I am coming in real tight and basically just doing a power pivot around. Yeah I know. It's that ugly, but so far it's the fastest way I've found.

Man...I just had splits of 24.576/1'05.578 and then went wide on the 2nd to last corner :( :( :(

Posting this a bit late, but I don't get online much anymore.

KLR142
My secret? Well, hmm...
Those settings look strangely familiar. :P
For those of you in D3 sweating KLR142's T2, his final lap time blows chunks because he was sweating bullets after seeing that T2.
It is a clean lap though, I watched it and checked it. ;)

Kent,
Don't forget that eggmann originally started the T-Times leaderboard and Luxy has been doing it for longer than both of us. It takes a lot of time I can assure you all.
 to eggmann for starting it
 to Luxy for taking it over and improving it
 to Small Fryz for helping Luxy maintain it

Waitaminute! You were doing those times with only 408hp? Or what? So now you're picking up speed? Or no?

Hehe, only because I felt like driving and not messing with setups too much. I probably would've done a little differently, although not too much. No matter.

Hmm, it blows chunks that bad? Did you beat it by much yet? Other than your other time? Or did you not run it anymore? I could possibly try to work on it some more tomorrow night WAY late, but you'll be asleep, so I don't know if I wanna bother you.

You suck at setting cars up worse than I do. :P
Your best bet is to use one of the top guys settings and just adjust them a little bit to suit your driving.

Yes, it is that bad.
You were right behind my ghost at the chicane, my ghost touched the wall coming out of the chicane, you smoked by my ghost on the straight and all the way to T2, then my ghost passed you back well before the finish line.

You are more than welcome to come over and run before/while I sleep. I've told you it doesn't bother me.

I played a bit tonight with settings. Seems to have more grip the stiffer it gets up to about 19, then drops off a bit. As holl01's settings show, the 5/5/5 lsd is a bit faster allowing you to turn more, but you have to be extra careful when applying gas in the tight stuff. Harder to not spin the inside rear tire, but if you don't, it is faster.

Really fun combo CFM. I doubt I'll have anything clean to submit, but I did thoroughly enjoy the time I did spend running it.

Might not be just you mate, my net connection was up & down at best yesterday kicking me lots and same with my friends getting VERY high pings & low framerates in online games :P i think the sun melted half the adsl servers in the UK...the the storms took out some more! :nervous:

Haha, so... You have any problems with me walking in the door tomorrow night at 1am-ish and putting down some laps? I'll make sure I make myself a nice Cappucino Blast before I drive up there...

i know its a bit past the conversation, and i apolgise for not visiting the site for a couple of days to keep up, but i wanted to just put my oar in!!

maybe its the heat, but there seems to be one or two disputes of late on this site. i just hope it will help us to remember that this site covers many different towns/states/countries and not everyone speaks in the same language or even same 'tongue.' so picking up on one or two words that just may have been misinterpreted is just nonsense. its also extremely difficult to put emotion into written word with so many different levels of intelligance and competence. but should that be held against anyone????

thanks for reading.
