Someone convinced me to do some racing again... Barely seeing myself on the leaderboard was a little depressing... I know we won't have a chance this week, but I'mma put some time into it anyway. Starting with tonight, and I will try to get in some decent time again later before submission time.

Hey!

I'm back with some new splits. After have run the track for a few hours today and studing my replays quite alot I'm finaly starting to get som better laptimes. There are still some things to be imroved but I'm getting there. Meanwhile, here are the splits:

T1: 30,025
T2: 55,454
T3: 1'17,053

//Snowstorm

Jeeeeez. Speedy stuff there guys! Turned out I didn't have the car yet, so I let Bobby run the Fuji 1000km overnight, and just bought the car. Did 20 minutes of driving, got a solid run from which I'll have to start looking a bit harder for mistakes to shave off time, and I'm way off pace still.

30.162
55.570
1'17.760

I'm not the best at this track, and must be a bit rusty(yeah, that's it).

Anyway, Mr. Phattman(it's something like that, right?), are you shifting before redline, or are you taking it all the way up there? I started out with 290 gearing, but didn't like how I was getting caught not pulling as hard as the car's capable of at higher speeds. So I tried out 260, seems to fit a little better, but you are shifting more... So maybe I'll have to try 290 again once I get better aquainted with the combo?

I take it midway into the redline in all gears but I never let it hit the limiter! .. and with 5th it will never get to the limiter on the long back straights whilst on 290 autoset anyway 👍

Hmm... I find it accelerates faster if you shift it into the next gear earlier than that, judging by how fast the numbers go up and my eyes anyway. Not worth it over the other benefits of the taller gearing I guess?

im with you on the shifting thing KLR...seems alot faster to me to shift just before that little light blinks...about 6800 rpm. of course...Mr. P is the "Brake Master" also!!! he should be called "Mr. Smoooothe" 👍👍

I have come to the conclusion that it is between T1 and T2 that I am losing it. It seems I am guilty of checking my T1 time just when I should be looking for that critical corner. By the way, I am still floating between a 270 and 290. Love the race, though I think the handicap is somewhat stilted. Since we have the chance, GO D2!!!

Getting better and finally put a decent run together, albeit with several kerb-rides and about two gear changes too many through the T1-T2 chicane.

0:29.802
0:54.978
1:16.689

I suspect I'm going to run out of time on this one before my times plateau. I only managed to shave off .3s from my lap time previous session but knocked 1.1s off tonight. Finish is god-awful, stopped for a picnic on the right hander at the end of the straight and then bounced over both kerbs through the chicane.

I think one of the reasons the handicap isn't working well is because of the super amount of grip that hides driving skill a little? Or does it? Who knows.

All I know is that I'm not doing well this week. Spent at least a half an hour and got down to a 1'17.4xx T2, but botched the end and only was a tenth faster instead of around 3. I'll get back to it again later, but after that stint, I decided to go gold some license tests instead. Try and reawaken my skills or something.

Oh, and while chasing my 260 gearing ghost, I'm about dead even with 290 throughout everything, so I'm not sure there's a benefit either way. At least not much of one, IMO.

Sadly I have no new splits to post yet :ouch: I've had some 1'15.85's t3 but not been able to put anything good down yet. I've been running the living hell out of this combo because I really like it, 👍 Sjaak.

As for the handicap deal, tbh I could really care less, but I do have a few things to say anyway(because I'm just that way).... I've not ran much with +5 but I have tried it and managed to find a 1'16.9 t3 without to much trouble, atm my laps are 1 sec apart. I'd expect to see them about .8 apart for a track of this lenght, but what the hell do I know? :dopey:

Not counting imfaster(whome is d1 for sure ;)) I think there is only one other d2 driver with somewhat fast splits, if you look at the board overall, I think all div's are pretty close.

In any event, I'm gonna run a little more tonight and maybe some in the morn, but then I'm off to biger and better things....

Just started this one, can't understand why a car with relatively low power and super sticky tires is so hard for me to drive. If I manage to keep it from sliding under braking, invariably I will slide through the center, or, in the unlikely event I've managed to get the entry and middle right, I just club the throttle and slide the nose off the exit.

I can't recall being so irritated by a particular combo. This car is new to me, and I'm not exactly familiar with Motegi, but I like it-wide and fast with interesting corners, although I do not understand how to take those V-shaped turns AT ALL.

Anyway, no splits yet as they are quite pathetic.

For me, top speed of 250 works better than 290. I can get 1'16.2 at t3 but I never get a perfect lap :ouch:

New splits
29.756
54.731
1:16.266

ran a 29.635/54.389/1:15.964 but blew the last chicane so badly the above splits are .07 faster at the line. Using 250, tried 290 and it made me faster to T1 but then I lose time through the rest of the lap.

One more session tonight to see if if I can put it all together.

Ugh. Still have no idea what I'm doing here. I can run one lap on top of my ghost and then the next five will be 2 seconds off, and I can't really identify what exactly I am doing different. I'm thinking my poor throttle and brake modulation are likely to blame.

29.912
55.127
1:17.023

Hope I get if figured out, the track is really growing on me.

Just noticed the title on the leaderboard page :D

Jake's obviously been watching me drive because the weeds is exactly where I end up most laps :)

The herb is still there just to put people off.

It's a much better name in my opinion :P, glad you guys see the humor in it

:dopey:👍

Just got back from a week out East and thought I'd give this one a try.

Splits after first 20 laps or so -

30.310
55.366
1:17.745

Hopefully more to come, just need to find another 0.5 on T1 and T2!

Later
Kevin

when'll this jay dude be hopped to div2 finally? obviously he has nothing to do in div3 :sly: great performance this week mate! if you win this week again - which you will - it'll be byebye up to the division where you belong and us simple div3 suckers can continue play around like we're used to :)
anyway, great combo this week again. i understand from jerry that sjaak is here for keeps which is GOOD 👍

Leaderboard Updated!

A few more laps, I still reckon it could be a fair bit quicker though.
T3 is a touch slower, but again it's faster overall.

T1 - 29.595
T2 - 54.531
T3 - 1'16.539

Thanx Steven, 👍 :P

After updating I realised I got the quickest time at T1! :D

Edit: Glad to know you're going to stick around Sjaak. 👍

yipeeum!!! new splits!!!

29.567
54.332
1'15.852

just dropped down 1 notch on the gear setting to 250 and worked alot better now that im more familiar with the track. tried all the way up to 320 gearing and i could get a real good T1 at 29.389 but from there was just loosing all kinds of time...by T3 was down to 1'16.4xx. took another .2 off at the line with the gear at 250.

best i could pull with the +5% was a 1'16.989 T3. Salute to you Div1 guys down there at 1'16.4xx and 1'16.3xx.

thanx for the generous comment arora!!! come on Div 2 let's give em all we got!!!!

New splits for me ... still not happy with the finish as I've put together a run that was a full second slower at T3 but only .6s slower at the finish. I almost nailed a 1:16.200 at T3 but ditched into the paddock on the last corner:banghead: On the other hand this run is a .8s faster at the line than my previous splits even though T3 is only .3s faster. So maybe only half the pack will overrun me this week instead of the whole lot like last week :)

29.611 :D
54.832
1:16.387

Was almost a so-so run until I pulled out a spectacularly fast hairpin just before T3 which I doubt I'll ever be able to repeat. That's generally the problem with this car/track, there are so many places to make mistakes and minor errors really punish your times. Still have to stop playing musical gears on the chicane between T1-T2, that one is really killing me.

0'29.839
0'54.667
1'16.385

0.1 lost at each sector :( (except for sector 2 which was good :) )

Looks like a close finish between me and Strop ;)

29.798
54.968
1:16.783

Loaded with blunders but I have no patience for this one.

Looks like I'm done for the week. My DFP has been getting steadily worse where it ignores requests to shift down. There's no way I can beat the previous splits with it continually leaving me in the wrong gear on corners and I'm seeing my times get progressively slower and slower.

Serendipity rules this week because my best time is .3s faster than anything else I've done and in two sessions I've not even looked like beating it (Never been ahead at T3).

Time to move up to the G25 ...

Well right now I'm hunting down a few hundredths of a second of my final time, until then, this is what I've managed.

29.7xx
54.7xx
1'16.355

Earlier on in the evening I had a 1'16.270 and then proceeded to have the worst possible finish in the history of Motegi. So knowing that I've already done better, I'll be aiming for at least a 1'16.25.
