I demand an enquiry

Yeah ,me too...sue them all!!!! ;)

And some splits from a truly div.2 legend.......ME :D.

30.148
54.886
1'16.510

Saw regularly 29.7 but messed them all up before T2 was crossed.

29.731 / 54.608 / 1'16.313 and took .1 at the line whoopdebloodydoo :grumpy:👍

Laugh ... I'm happy to be under 1:19 at the moment ... you guys are scaring me with all these super times. This is my first attempt at left foot braking so I reckon that's a valid excuse for at least a week or two :)

new splits again!!

29.631
54.509
1'16.141

give or take a few 1/100ths from my last post but i nailed it between T3 and the finish taking off 4/10ths...very happy with this lap...finally hit my goal time.

great splits there Arora!!! Div 2!! Div2!! Div2!! oh yeah baby!! 👍👍👍

better splits but only marginally improved at the s/f ...

29.994 - 55.366 - 1.17.873

chucky here i come :)

for tracks like motegi it would be super if in gt5 pylons could be put before a corner as braking marker and in the apexes to aim for ... maybe wait for gt6 where (in my dreams anyway) you could load a pylon into your car before driving, get to a corner, stop the car, get out of it and bring the pylon to the spot where you want it :dopey:

I'm done with my D1 car and submitting now not happy at all with my laptime :indiff: Also I ran a few laps on D2 power just to ease my curiosity :ill: within not many laps at all I have a save with these splits ...

29.4 / 54.2 / 1'15.7 ( almost 1 full second faster than my D1 save at the line :yuck: )

Cya's in week 125 and I'll be avoiding the next handicap race unless it has some remote possibility that D1 can stay in touch even with the lesser horses :dunce:

Right on time with the gearing suggestion. I've played with gears from 220 to 330, and my best time is so far with a 290. I think, anyway, because I changed it so many times that I am not exactly sure what I actually ran!

Cool man, I had yet to try a higher gear but I hope to get a chance this weekend to get faster. Work is OK here in DC but I wish I was back in CT. Getting my A$$ handed to me from the D1 guys this week. :scared:👍

I was really starting to have a crisis of confidence - two days of running and I had just one sub-1:18 T3 run and an absolute lack of consistency - most of my runs were in the 1:19 to 1:20 range.

Then last night I noticed the accelerator bar wasn't going to the top and was flickering. So I took my pedal assembly to the garage and blew it out with compressed air and it helped, but still not perfect so I took the whole thing apart, blew out the little circular electrical things on the pedals, put it back together and now I had half throttle all the time...AAARRGGHHH . So... took it apart again and noticed how all the bits were supposed to line up, carefully put it back together and now it seems fixed.

So after an hour and a half of mechanic work I went back to the track and knocked 0.9 off my time on the first lap - another ten laps or so and I am at:

29.951
57.933
1:16.819
(using, I think, 230 gears, in any case I hit the rev limiter just before the turn after T3)

Hopefully, a further session without involving screwdrivers and air compressors will see me down in the low 1:16's

Baah ... humbug ....

T1: 30.190
T2: 55.986
T3: 1:17.791

Baah ... humbug ....

At least I know where I'm losing it and it's all between T1 and T2. Come on guys, there's a shortcut you're not telling me about isn't there ... ?

29.951
57.933
1:16.819

Are you sure about your T2 there ... you're three seconds behind the front runners at that point and then less than a second behind at T3? 54.933 would seem more reasonable given the other times you posted.

Go on admit it ... you goosed your ride with a whiff of NOS at T2 didn't you :D

Maybe you're right about the NOS ;) - but it might cause less consternation if I say it was a typo - 54.933 is the correct time :dunce:

New splits:
0'29.866
0'54.886
1'16.564

I don't know how you can get 29.7 at t1. I use 250 gearing and 3rd gear at both corners, shifting at the redline. Am I doing something wrong here or is it just me that can't do those corners correctly?

Division 2 is too offpace, I tried just one lap with D2 power and got a t3 of 1'15.8, if I had done some more laps I would be more than a second faster than my Division 1 time, and that's too much for such an easy car to drive. Still, it puts up a good challenge, chasing those faster cars :sly:

Sorry for misleading you Jay :guilty: but these splits I posted 29.4 / 54.2 / 1'15.7 ... these are just a test in D2 hp I ran and never posted them as updated splits :sly: ... I wish :P

anyway! my old splits are still my official ones 👍
Cheers
Ron.

Hi there!

I've been reading your post's and I'm amazed about your splits! How do you do it?
Hats off to all the fantastic drivers here 👍

This is my first week racing the WRS. I joined the site and did my qualifier almost a year ago but haven't had the time to race or hang out at the forums. But now things are brightening up and I hope to be joining you from now on. I made a short introduction about myself when I joined up, it can be found here.

I have been running the track for a few hours now but can't seem to get even close to your times. Guess I just have to face the fact I'm not that good. But don't think I'm giving up. I just have to figure out what I'm doing wrong between the T2 and T3 cos I'm loosing a lot of time there.

Here are my splits so far:
T1: 30,335
T2: 56,078
T3: 1'18,241

Since there's still a few days to go I'm hoping to improve the T3 time a little.

Sorry Ron, my fault.
I didn't read your post properly. :dunce:

Snowstorm - You are on the board, could you please let us know what control method you are using. Thanx.

(using, I think, 230 gears, in any case I hit the rev limiter just before the turn after T3)

not trying to tell ya what to do there buddy...but...if you're hitting the rev limiter...its slowing you down more than you think. try using 260 gearing a lap or two and just see how much more speed you can carry through the corners. higher gearing will suprise you sometimes. 👍

I was running this combo @ 290 autoset and never using 6th gear anywhere on the lap ... Had a few 29.6's and loads of 29.7's with this set up!

Every bend at the end of any long straight you will have plenty of power with a redlined 5th gear without bouncing and only dropping 2 gears instead of 3 to take the bend with a wide line in 3rd might be worth a try ... the only bend I took in 4th is the S bend between T1 and T2 and the only bend I take in 2nd is the hairpin just before T3 👍

I reckon the longer yet less gears needed will give you some more speed anyway ;)
Good Luck!
Ron.

edit: No probs Jay .. Cheers

wow, I had no idea that would work. I have to give 290 a try this weekend... Thanks for the tip. 👍 what rpm are you letting the rev drop to?

I never really see my speeds as I drive in Kiddy ( Behind the car ) view :P ... If you give me a specific bend I will check in the in car view and get back to you 👍

I'm playing with my DS2 controler.

Are you guys running manual or automatic gearing?

Really? I though for sure you would use in car view. I used to use kiddy view back in the GT2 days and figured it was slower. But I guess it makes more sense since you are using the DS2. I need to start taking the console with me on business trips and try it out more. I just love the wheel / cockpit setup I have, I stopped using the other options all together. :)

I started with Auto mode but switched after a few months. My reasoning was that the Auto mode was never going to match a skilled driver and even though it slowed me down for a while ultimately I don't think I could get the times I get (slow as they are :-)) in full auto mode.

Now I'm going through the whole thing again with left foot braking.

And for reference I drive exclusively with the bumper cam view. All I want to see are the gauges.

You're right in principle, but in this case it hits the rev limiter maybe a tenth of a second before I lift off for the corner. Also, I think 230 is wrong, it's probably 250 that I used (I should have written it down). In any case, this was the gearing I had used as I was tying to figure out why my ghost was pulling me out of every corner before discovering my pedal problem. Now that I'm in reasonable territory with my splits I'm going to experiment with gearing, and the only direction to go is longer. In fact, I was also planning on exploring above the default 280 (as I see Ron has done) to see what would happen.

But you're right regarding longer gearing - I've learned to not assume that the shortest gears are the fastest way around in GT4 (as opposed to the real world).

As a point of interest, when we were at Costa di Amalfi with the S2000 in week 87, the fastest way around for me, and for few others, was to be on the rev limiter for a significant part of the front straight.

that must have been a special circumstance. ive never been able to run faster times with that needle bouncing like a super ball under a toekick!! if it helped ya on that track thats cool to know but its never worked for me like that.

edit: new splits tonight!!!
