Driving a road car at El Capitan is everything but easy, but I still find it very fun. I enjoy especially this RR at the hill :mischievous: and at other points where it starts sliding, such as the first corner, the last and the sequence before T2.

Some splits from test laps:
0'30.713
1'09.616

A lot of room to improve.

gggggrrrrreeeeeaaaaattttt!!!!!
el cap is my dreamo track and the rufs ... well they might ultimately be wrong by placing the engine in the rear but still the porsches are amongst the greatest in automotive history so they must be doing something right arent they?

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

I love this combo!👍 Splits after first session:

T1: 30.350
T2: 1'08.188

And there's still a lot of room for improvements.

Driving a road car at El Capitan is everything but easy
Anything fast pretty much is a beast at this track. Even race cars, especially ones with 500+ hp, their stiff suspensions can be a beast too. Downforce can only do so much...

CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THIS ONE!

I think I may have to make enough time to get near the top of D1 for once in a long while... :sly:

An excellent track and an excellent car. I may very well take EPR out of the drive and put GT4 back in for this, but I must first find the time in this week.

Do it man! I've realized that it's not necessarily about finding the time, but making the time... Like, I will decide to NOT get on the Volvo forums for too long after I get home, so I can play GT instead. I HAVE to make a showing here. It's at El Cap no less! In a RR Porsche! Even better than the fun that I have normally with a MR car on this track... 👍👍

I fear our beloved sjaak may be related to the Marquis de Sade. :scared:
This will either be a lot of fun or very frustrating either way it will surely be challanging. 👍👍

31.583
1'11.131

32.382 - 1.11.848

great racing. finding out where to skip the tyre smoke equals more grip ...

love it!

OMG, NOT my combo, I tried about an hour now and can only manage a 1:07.356, I keep screwing up the hill and the crazy @$$ **** they got just b4 t1, lol. Not my best of tracks like GVS, but Kyle on the otherhand should be able to give Herman a run for his $. You always out drive me here Kyle, go for it!

Dude, you're flying. ;)👍 This is a NUTS combo, in a GREAT way. It's begging for some Sports-"super" soft tires and a smidge of downforce but hey, what can ya do?! :sly:

I'm about 40 min in, and just did a best of a 1'08.0xx dirty. There's "tons" of time everywhere in this combo because of how much slip there is. I don't think the results this week are going to be nearly as close as last week's with the sticky tires. :)

I don't know if I'll be able to give herman a run, but I'll try!

EDIT:
Man, still struggling with that section right before T1... And of course the hill following it... But this last run? Managed a 30.400 T1(with a CRAP line as usual right before T1, but a good sector leading up to it), and went over the hill VERY well. Sadly, I botched the uphill left sweeper directly after it thus a dirty 1'07.607, but DAYUM, the finish from that point on was the most beautiful thing ever...! Nicely hit apexes, perfect sliding and positioning on the last right/left that leads onto the straight. Man, if I can put that last sector with something less than 1'07.2, I'm going to cry with happiness. I'll be happy with something a little slower for that sector if I go below a 1'07.1 though. We'll see how it all comes together in 6.5 days! LOVING IT!

EDIT2: Haha, I guess the finish wasn't as good as I thought, which means there's THAT much more time in this... But it sure looked good!

EDIT3: Oh man, finally got a clean lap, but with lousy splits: 30.537 and 1'07.840, and thus a lousy finish. Then followed that with a lap with a 30.4xx T1, and a !!! 1'07.3xx !!! T2(fastest yet by .2+), followed by a CRAP finish that LUCKILY was .001 ahead of the first clean lap, so I DO have a clean replay for it. Meaning, I finally have something for the leaderboard. And I should go to bed now, after folding my clothes and making my bed, but I think I'm going to go for a bit longer... Clean up that finish a bit...

Feels like the good ole days.

EDIT4:

:crazy:GULP!!!

T1: 30.262(first one I've seen below 30.3, and I've only seen two of those... It's freaking tough!)
T2: 1'07.101

T3: Only about two tenths off of where it could be, considering my previous third sectors... w000000!!! :dopey:

Ok, good luck and 💡 good night!

finally, after many many laps and restarts (i even tried tcs but it's useless because it's only sideways grip that the car lacks) i managed a clean and reasonably unslow lap:

31.570 - 1.10.550

this is a true combo where the adagium 'dare to be slow in order to be quick' goes.

i love it 👍

ron, over to you now :)

leaderboard

No worries steven, I can't even sniff a 1'10.xxx at this point. :scared:

Way too many 2x4's to nail together in the basement. Besides, I'm doing a great impression of "Tim the Tool Man." In looking at my left hand one would not begin to believe my second occupation was that of a cabinet maker. At this point no feeling in my left thumb is making steering a real challange eh? :dunce:

maybe switch to the knob for steering and to a diy course for thumb protection :) :) :)

First run ...

31.678
1:12.551

Still feeling my way here, maybe it's a disadvantage that I actually used to drive one of these things for real (82 Race Modified SC) and I'm still being too cautious. Definitely not hitting too many apexes where I want yet so should see some improvement. Only got a few days to work on this as I'll be up at Emeryville this weekend for the LAN party.

lots of times posted already, so here are mine
T1 32.306
T2 1.11.116
:indiff:
looks like i have some catching up to do:tup:

couple more laps
getting easier:scared:
T1 31.810
T2 1'10.495
this is an awesome combo:dopey:

Hey, for those who don't know, Jake is a handy dude. He is going to post the pictures of the two (so far) truly awesome cockpits he has built. I am the lucky beneficiary of driving the second one, the appreciation of which is only surpassed by the appreciation for his consistent quality of Friendship that the poets write about. (No, we're not gay. I'd say that I'm a married man, which I am, but that's not the point.) We set up the two side by each and began inviting friends over. Since most of us (other than Jake, who sluts his computer skills from Boston to Miami!) work for a living, and we have families of one dysfunctional sort or another, Sunday mornings evolved into a natural meeting time. One of the racers from our community is 01gtk. We are some proud and local fans of Lime Rock Race Park and love this on-line racing. I've nicknamed us Team S.M.A.R.T. Racing. [Sunday Morning Automotive Racing Team] Hopefully, I can learn enough technology to help bring on-line racing to the public. I am getting ready to retire from the labor force, and I am convinced that I can make a living providing a resource for those who love cars and racing, but have neither the money or resources to make it happen. The technology is there, it's just a matter of logistics. If anyone in the community can help with advice or direction, I would love it. I want to open a 7,500 sq. ft. arcade that specializes in on-line racing/sporting events. HOW?

BTW I mean providing racing to those who don't have the space/time to make their own set-ups, but still want to race.

I can now honestly say I love Jake like a brother, but I just finished his bottle of Gentleman's Jack. Please keep it a secret.

Nice combo Sjaak 👍 at first I was not so sure, I give it a wirl last night after some adult beverages :P and simply overpressed and drifted all over the place, fun but not so fast or clean :dopey:

Got a little more serious tonight, first few laps I got down to a 1'09.00 and then ran 4 more....

30.617
1'08.421

I'll hit it hard tonight and see what comes of it

EDIT: 1'07.9x, lost it on the double right exit dup
