GT4 WRS Week 16: "Alright, Who's NSX'd?"

Well I knew I'd need to be in the 1'00.xxx at T2 to be competitive, I finally did it, not before I had to buy a new NSX because my Mobil 1 was getting sluggish, I gave it new oil and it had dropped to 916hp, I feel sad to have driven it that much :)

The new LOCTITE MUGEN NSX drives like a dream after my poor worn out MOBIL 1 and so I have new splits:

T1: 0'31.345
T2: 1'00.923

There's still some hesitiation in a few corners that is costing me but at least I've got my T2 down.

I also noticed that with the auto settings at 13 for the gears, two of the gears needed tweaking, 4th needed to be stretched out, as did 6th, that made life a little easier in a couple of parts.

!

Today, I beat my T2 time by over 1.5 seconds, and got into the low 1.01s for T2!

But I spun it in the long right sweeper straight after it! Argh...I can't do it again. This corner is by far the hardest for me with my wieght +30 at the back. I have to pull some controlled oversteer, which while looks dang cool on the replay, probably isn't the fastest way around...

Maybe if I could work the LSD it'd help, but alas, I'm sticking to stock and hoping my driving skills are ALOT better than my tuning skills (or lack of)...

But at least I'm getting good at my sand restarts!

@Small_Fryz: I don't think there is any difference but because my Mobil 1 was WELL-used I think it felt different to me. As an indicator, the lap before I dumped the Mobil it was crossing the Start/Finish line at 300km/h, when I got my new LOCTITE it crossed at 305km/h and it just responded to steering inputs correctly. I'm certain it was because of how worn the Mobil was though.

@Casio: I'm not sure how you're taking that corner but I found as I'm approaching I'd brake late and fairly hard in a straight line and drop it into 3rd, then jump on the gas and back into 4th quite quickly, 3rd gear seems to ensure I gain control of the beast as the back pops out.

Wow. 300km/h. I must be doing something wrong, as I'm only crossing at 182Mph (291km/h) I get to about 196 Mph (313 km/h) before I have to brake. I think my gears are auto set to 13 or 14, and I always take the last corner flat in 5th.

Thanks for that corner tip, are you braking from the very left hand side, and hitting a late apex? That's what I've been trying to do, and I'm losing the back end as soon as I turn after getting on the power and getting off the power when it's starting to slide it just spins faster.. At the moment, the car is set-up so that I brake late, and turn while braking and swing the back end around, then get on the power to bring even more wieght onto the back end, so then I can power out. Which is working well for all the corners, except that one as it's just too fast...

Although, I'm not getting much wieght shift as my car is sitting as low as it can get at 45/45. Any higher the car loses control out of the corners.Which apart from auto gears and moving the ballast back are the only changes I've made.

I've pretty much just given the car extreme understeer under power, with the ability to drift the back end around under braking. Which suits my style well.

I find I max out around the 320 mark I think, I don't usually look before that right hairpin though, it's a bee-atch of a corner :) I'm using 13 as my gear settings and I've extended 4th and 6th a little. I usually change into 6th at the end of the rumble strip onto the main straight if that's any help.

As for "that" corner...I do approach from the left but I brake late into it and usually drift the back out in 3rd gear until it kicks back to the right, then I change into 4th and power all the way to the next corner where I just touch the limiter before braking. It is a frustrating corner though that's for sure. The worst corner though is the kink right then kink left leading down to the hairpin before T1. I crash 1 in 2 times I try that guy...very frustrating

i was crossing the line at 291km/h, until i realised i had TCS and ASM set on, turn them off and u will go a lot quiker

Errr...they are off :indiff:

Is everybody else running full downforce?

Either full or something like 46-48 in the front... Can't remember what I ended up with... Anywho, I had a decent go at it yesterday, and I couldn't get back at it... I can stay with it, but I'm hauling through T1. If I could drift around the first main turn, then I could replicate it. I've been even through T1 maybe 3 out of a million times. I think I need to do the chassis refresher again, too bad it never crossed my mind yesterday! Dangit.

My gearing tops out 5th around 173mph, I cross the line at 190-192mph, and top out at 201-203mph before I slam on the brakes for the first turn. I use the flag indicater thingy up high on the left side of the screen to brake for that turn. There's one right in the middle of the left kink(I think that's where it is), and that's when I slam on the brakes, helps me get around that corner more consistently.

Well... I just gave up on my tries... Definetelly I have a lot to learn on this course still. Let's see how is it going to be on next weeks... Had a lot of fun, though, it pushes me to learn car tweaking and to improve my driving lines... 👍

I CANT BELIEVE IT :irked:. Had a T1 of 30.7xx and T2 of 1:00.1xx and BLEW IT  in the last tunnel. Didn't hit anything, then ran wide after the last hairpin onto the concrete trying to make it up :ouch:. Was gonna destroy my old time for sure, never gonna come close to it now...

I may be done with this one. I can bet ( :) ) my ghost through T2 but it scorches the last sector :banghead:

Haven't heard much from the H boys this week. Must be buisy negotiating F1 contracts!

splits from saturday evening:

T1: 31´234
T2: 1´00´613

not happy with either one, still lots of potentioal, but little time... just now i´ve found a setup that i like...

👎 have to work sucks 👎

Well I feel a little better:

T1 - 30.959
T2 - 1:00.388

Still wish I had that 30.7 and 1:00.1 back, but what can you do. Might be submitting this one, unless I can beat it tomorrow night. Good luck all!

I've had a bit of a go with this one but I was getting confused with my JGTC setup. I've got nothing worth submitting.

This car (the Mobil of course) which is nicely balanced with 500hp becomes a bit of a dog with 900.

I'll be interested to see the times, good luck all 👍

I worked out why I've been going so slow!

After 200 Miles, I only had 860hp!

After quicky changing my Oil, I beat my lap time by 3 seconds within 4 laps. New T-Times.

T1 - 31.435
T2 - 1'01.408

I'll have one last punt tomorrow and see if I can break into one minute flat at T2. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. I might post my settings too, not that anyone cares...

Had some quality time this weekend and was "feelin' it". (No jokes here, please! :^) )

T1 31.121
T2 1.00.339

This has been a really fun week for me, I've gotta say. It's been nice to be able to spend a few hours behind the DFP again. The setup thing adds challenge (and generally time that I don't have) so I'm having a great time.

We'll see if my fellow D2ers can step up and challenge. I'm out of time for this week so I'll be submitting this time. I'll have to wait and see if my technique through the last drifty tunnel and subsequent s-bend is worthy though...

Good luck all!

Those are some awesome splits Scott, u got me beat. I have plateaued for some reason. I can't wait til next week tho.

we should have never used the stage 4 turbo with a JGTC car. This car makes so little power at low and mid RPM's with this kit it is rediculous. We should have done NA Stage 3.

Funniest thing happened yesterday, was watching Japanese JTGC championship racing and saw no less than five NSX's spin out in the middle of corners.

Rear end rotating around the fronts..................seems to me, these bloody things are a complete handfull even for professional teams and drivers!

It did make me feel a little better! lol :)

Don't think i am gonna submit a time this week, still can't use pedels without too much pain(even with the kick-ass painkiller's the doc gave me  ), and can't get a clean lap with the DS2. :ouch:

Never mind eh?

However, did try dropping the car on it's belly last night after a few cans to help the P/K's and it seemed to help. Just means that you cannot ride the curbs! lol

Will keep popping online and keep an eye on things though.

Oh and thanx for the mention O.G. and Vexd, and thanx for the simpathy from Jerome!

Neil

the reason this 900 hp NSX spins is because the power band is horrible, no low or mid range power what so ever. so when you lift in high speed corners too much you are going around.

the 500hp versions are much easier and funner to driver and are still crazy fast.

Had my first attempt at this week this morning, havent had enough time to get a reasonable time though so im not submitting. Instead i thought id win th polyphony from nurb 24hr, bad mistake i got 11 hours in (on b-spec) went out for an hour and left it to do its thing, then came home n mum had turned it off!!! ah well, ill just go away and be depressed :( lol

Sorry bit of topic

OK after a many-day break from running this combo, I've finally figured out this car (Mobil1).

I finally stopped the car from snapping around on me. Big props to Puck927 for a great suggestion on how to change the way I drive with the DFP!

I got my top speed to where everyone is saying it should be (~202 mph). And I'm finally crossing the S/F line at where everyone says I should be.

And I finally learned this track! It took me longer than expected. I really do hate this track, even now that I seem to have mastered it (at least in the Mobil1 NSX I have).

So here are some splits:

T1: 30.644
T2: 1:00.309

I am VERY happy with those, it was one miracle lap and I haven't been able to duplicate it (I'm within 0.2 at least).

Word! I'm all about NA power when I've got the option.

Uh... Actually, the power band has nothing to do with it spinning, unless you're in first gear. The reason it spins is because it's mid engine...

Anywho, I wonder if I'll get a chance to run again tonight before the deadline... I'll probably be too tired after just getting off work though and won't be able to manage anything.

I see people catching up now... :nervous:

Good luck in the last 15 hours everyone!

Holy s*#%, Androos! That was some good times!!! Especially that first sector!!! Even though I'm still faster through the second sector... lol I have seen 1:00.1xx but I blew it. The time I was planning to submit had T's of 31.0xx and 1:00.3xx (with a very good T2-finish though). I'm saying was because you are probably on almost exactly the same time as me! I don't wanna loose this one... :nervous: I'm gonna drive tomorrow morning. Must improve now when you have come that close. It's gonna be a battle to the finishline between us! The race is on! :)

Well Androos, you've done it again...those are some very nice splits! Not sure I'll get a chance to race again and even if I did I'm pretty sure your time is too quick for me. I guess you didn't get to the top of D2 on luck. I'm pretty happy with my time though, we'll see where it places me.

I got a chance to run a little today, still making adjustments to my setup. It's going to be very close this week.

T1: 30.983
T2: 1'00.272

You guys got my act beat that is for sure, although I really got into this combo early in the week, then the last couple days it turned sour for me and I really can't wait to start next weeks race. But I will see if I can press my luck one last time tonite b4 I submit my time.

If I may quote Stiffler from American Pie...

"It's on like Donkey Kong!" :D

I'm actually really excited to see how we end up. Although it looks like bhawk has passed me by 0.1 now. But I'm not going to run anymore. There's no way I can top that lap I threw down. 👍
