i have a question for you guys...
and i wonder how many agree with me... kk listen up

-when exiting from slower corners, do you think we should be able to floor the throttle without getting any power sliding action?
=this is what happens when racing with Sports Softs, or those god damn Super Softs

-now, for real racing..... where you need to limit the power you put down coming out of corners... or else you will spin it with full throttle exiting the corner
=N tyres... or Mediums and under for the race tires

tell me what you guys think is better?

are you asking if we should use N tyres to simulate the real car behaviour, or not?

I think what Curtis is trying to say is that in real life if you floor a race car while you are exiting a slow corner the tires will (most likely) spin and make the car slide.

Using N tires brings out this behavior, as we can all see in this week's race.

Using RSS or RS, on the other hand, makes the car not slide and you are able to swtich from 0% power to 100% power without getting any tire spin - hence, not realistic or not real-life-like.

Therefore, the question is (from how I see it):

Do you prefer to be able to floor a race car without any real life side effects (do you prefer RS or RSS tires)?

Or, do you prefer having the car behave a little more like it would in real life - flooring it all of a sudden in low gear would make the tires spin (do you prefer N tires)?

I think N tires are nice and are good for a nice challenge, once in a while, but if we had to use them too often, then the frustration will eventually build up and become higher than the fun factor.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, I agree. Problem is though, a lot of us aren't as skilled with our DS2s as some people are with their DFPs... But anywho, being real is cool, but being imaginary sometimes is fun too!

I just wasted another 30-45 minutes on this week's race getting no where but worse, ish. Time submitted.

I say that it depends on the car you are driving. If you are driving a road car then we should use road tires, no argument. If we are using a race car then there is no reason why we shouldn't we be using qualifying tires for what is effectively a hot lap challenge.

I just wish the WRS had more races and not just hot laps...

Now you've done it! It's comments like this that make Cyril actually turn them into reality.

Keep quiet!

j/k

I think hot laps are good, real good.

Hopefully this will balance the equation and neutralize your comment :D

EDIT: To acutally add something useful to this otherwise worthless post, I think races are good, but only if time is taken by, cough, Cyril, in order to check if the first straight of the track is long enough to pass all the stupid AI's and never see them again for the rest of the race... 👍

Yeah more hotlaps!

On the N Tyres Subject, had anyone notised that flooring the thottle from standstill in this car produced no wheelspin?

that is coz you have to whip this thing harder than your missus whips your ass, to get any action out of it...:sly:

oh true.

...:dunce:

but on a different note i have the following problem, and maybe someone can help me out

I seem to get nerveous whenever i beat my own time, panic, and screw up.

for example... i beat my clean T1 28.479 with 28.197, then messed up a bit (:nervous: ), but still managed to get t2 of 1.00.433 over my 1.00.714 (:nervous::nervous:) and the very last corner i paniced and ...:scared: BAM right into the wall :banghead: !

do any of you get that, or am i just insane? :boggled: do you guys turn off the ghost, listen to music or what would you suggest?

ohhh yeah sometimes i hate that ghost....most of the time i race without it

will submit my time now

28.422
1'00.468

Please if you watch my replay, ignore my T1, as it was bad. The rest of the lap however was my best ever. Should have been .4 faster 👎 saw many 28.0 T1's

Time submitted:

0'28.046
1'00.213

Still about .45 seconds in it for me from start to finish, but this will have to do. Didn't reach my new goal unfortunately.

If you have problems with freaking out because you are on a good lap then let me make a suggestion or two.

First, only run with your ghost half the time. 👍
Use a ghost to get started or to get back up to speed on a later session, but never try to make sessions of play running against the same ghost for extented periods.

Often you will end up replicating the mistakes of the ghost and in-turn, never get a better lap (or a "different" lap).

Also, if you feel a little freaked out when you are on a good lap, don't sweat it.

That is a good time to run without your ghost. 👍

Try this... Finish that good lap (the one that freaked you out). Then use that lap as your ghost.
You will find that the poor finish to your lap may actually help when it comes time to run against that ghost!
Yes, that's right, finish the lap and even if the last section is horrible, try running against it.

You will end up running similar laps for the first part and where you got nervous last time, you will now easily pass the ghost and continue improving.

So...
Run without a ghost.
Use the ghost you create during that session for a short period of time.
Go out of your way to save the fast-lap that was ruined.
Run against that ruined fast lap.

Doing that will help you to see errors in your lap and at the same time it will help you to make new laps without those same errors.

Just remember, switching between different ghost and using a ghost or not can help keep you on your toes (which is a good thing).

Finally, the hardest piece of advice to use...
Also, as a last resort, just try really hard not to look at the T times as they are posted during your lap. 👍 :sly:

Good luck.

btw, T13R, you're looking like you've pulled a D1 time. 👍
I always wondered how you managed a D2 qualifier.

Hey SHigSpeed, how are your monkeys doing tonight, in preparation for the last session?

My monkeys are still quite rusty, as this is my first race in a while.

I am going to give them one last go in a few minutes.

The Wizard.
My monkeys did make some progress, but not nearly enough. I'll be polishing bronze for sure this week...

Seen many T1s at 28.2 and saw a lowly T2 of 1'00.88x, but my fastest lap is:

T1 28.393
T2 1'.01.056

I suck...

I was as confused as you, and to be honest very disappointed (felt like quitting immediately). After spending a couple of hours on the qualifier, and thinking I had done a really good lap, I submitted thinking it should have gotten me in Div 1. But I was half a second off. I couldn't understand how my lap could be so bad, maybe I actually didn't take very good lines on a track completely new to me, maybe I was slow at getting used to the new physics, maybe I need to see split times from others? I didn't know and so I went back to it for another hour or so and managed to take off another half second, which still left me at some thousandths of a second from a D1 time. I knew at that point there was still alot of time to be had on the track, but I just didn't feel like I could do it at the time. I have yet to try again and see how much the WRS has made me improve. (If you remember for GT3, I qualified in Div 2 to start also... once again because I thought I had done really well, and I had no splits to compare)

I just know one thing, I'm not a benchmark setter. I have to wait until the usual suspects post quick times before I can judge my lap better and try to improve from there. I'm not good at saying, "OK, the max for this track should be around this", like Curtis and co. can do. My times are fully dependent on how well others do, and how much time I can spend on a race. It also helps that this week is Deep Forest, probably one of my strongest tracks from GT3.

Nah I dont' thikn you suck Scott, I think you need a trunk monkey tho! Although I think its a Northwest only commercial...you'd love it. The trunk monkey is a 'security guard' that when someone tries to steal your car he struts out holding a tire wrench and when you dont expec it WHAM! Knocks the theif out, and then laughs about...good times.

All good.
I didn't mean to stir up a "bad" passion if that's what happened. :guilty:

The qualifier... I imagine it was just the GT4 transition that got you.
During the GT3 WRS you could hold your own with D1. 👍

Plus, Infineon was a track I really enjoyed when this game first came out (still do). It is one of the best "small" courses in the game and I'd rather run infineon than most of the city circuits. Infineon seems to have the perfect balance of length + elevation changes + turns.

Deep Forest...
A Track you are good with and I hear that!
My time is faster than I expected at the begining of the week and I think it's due to the track.
Deep Forest is fun. :dopey:

Anyway, I'm gonna be around most of the day (waiting for the results and new race).

Till next time...

Submitted my pathetic time!

Even though i managed to shave some time off yesterday, it was no-where near enough.

Must have been the 'Flu' earlier in the week, just couldn't get back into it.

Anyway, good luck everyone!

see you from the bottom of D2 later!

Neil

Hi everyone :) !!
Here are the splits of the time that I submitted:

T1: 27.870 (seen 27.847)
T2: 59.833 (seen 59.824 with a T1 in 27.932)

I'm quite satisfied even though I lost 0.1 sec in the last sector compared to my previous time :sly:

Thank you, kart 👍

I could only remember the old version (db.grantursimo.de - I think), which used to redirect me to the new domain. But apparently it does not do that anymore.

I'll have to bookmark that one :D

And here I thought my times were the most pathetic!...wait...my times are the most pathetic! :D

T1: 29:010
T2: 1'02:815
Time Submitted....never fails...one week podium finish...next week? Off the radar! :grumpy:

Turned in my "slow" time. My fastest lap, was hitting about 118/119 at the first bridge before the finish line (my fastest by far)
Oh and SRD, how is your ankle  , falling off the podium in last weeks race during the celibration, had to hurt. :ouch:
