.021  my first time ive beaten Zik 👍

nice win in div 2 Skill, and SimonC in div 3

and good to see you back, Dion

i hOpe jerome has enough time to make a video of this run

You got it buddy :) Nice run pal. I'll make it in a few minutes.

EDIT: Video Replay is posted here: http://www.jumpace.com/gt/bOi/WRSWeek39hOt6o4bOi.mpg enjoy! I didn't compress his last 2 videos; this one and a GC race they are a little bigger, but I now have the webspace. And thx to Tuff240 I'll be getting even more for way less, that is when I get around to it 👍

@Fabio, yeah the only way I could manage a 28.1 T1 was to cut the concrete so I was kinda limited, but if you see my T1 - T2 is right at 32 seconds just like Curtis I believe, and I did figure out how to trim another .2 from T2 to the end but again with a slow T1 I was kinda haulted a bit. But still fun none the less!

Jerome

wow, 15th overall:ouch: :ouch: :ouch:

that shows that i can´t play less than 1 hour per week...

i really admire those who can get a good lap in 30 minutes...

now on to week 40...

I checked the following replays:

  • [*] hOt6o4bOi
    [*] icemanshooter23
    [*] TheWizard
They're all clean.

Couldn't convert Kent's .sps to a .max file using PS2save-builder for some reason and ended up with corrupted data on my MC. :(

P.S.: What a great lap, hOt! You had the least drifts in your lap, guess that secured you the #1 spot. :dopey: 👍

I'm really sorry to hear that.
I've converted it myself here. 👍
Hope doesn't ruin anyone else's day though. :ouch:

Don't do it if you don't want to risk it either, I don't need people messing up their game saves for the sake of checking my replays. :guilty:

Maybe it's time for me to go get a max drive. 💡

Anyway, if anyone has a problem with this file just let me know.

Firing up my PS2 to check if it's working right now. :dopey:

EDIT:
Kent's run is clean.

Which program did you use to convert the file to .max format?

Give me a quick minute here and I'll try Kent's replay.

Edit: Kent's run is clean, nice lap 👍

Edit2: Sorry rotbarsch, didn't see your edit there.

You all know I'm clean. :sly:

I used the PS2 save builder.
Can't really say why that happend.
Sorry about the trouble though.

Also, thanks (both of you) for checking it out for everyone. 👍

Btw, congrats on an excellent lap Ice.
(that goes for many others as well ;) )

Well well well... I'm pleasantly pleased with my result this week! But, it appears it's going to be unnofficial for a while, until I get Jerome over to my place to check it for me, or I can mail it to him to save the hourish drive... Anywho, our maxdrive disk isn't being read by our new slim PS2...! I think I've used it before on our slim one though, so I think the disk has gotten bad enough that it's causing problems. I'll go over to my friends house tomorrow night maybe and try it on his PS2, but I don't know if it'll work, we'll see.

VERY good racing this week guys! Thanks for the competition! 👍

Very nice work this week man 👍

On the issue of the faulty max drive, mine has issues in my slim line PS2 as well and there's a few things I do to fix it:

1. Try booting the disk without the USB stick plugged in
2. Try manually moving the laser closer to the centre of the disk holder before you close the lid
3. Try opening and closing the lid quickly after it fails to read the disk

Those things have helped me in the past but I also have issues with my max drive.

Hope you get it fixed man 👍

Thanks for the tips! I'll look into it tomorrow. I was wondering if the thing was just having problems thinking about moving the laser in to check for a smaller disc...

Wow, I was way off the pace!

Great times everyone!

OT: Kent, is that the guy from Cowboy Bebop in your avatar? :)

Thanks for the replay checking.
I added a poll to the thread, so that you have a chance to rate the race (I'm interested in the results that week 40 will have :D ).
If you like the concept I'll re-open results for races 30 to 38 and add the same poll so that you can vote for them too.

Just checked Zikwik's and it's perfectly clean and D A M N if it ain't fast! ! ! ! ! ! It looks so effortless but it's miles faster than what I could ever achieve. That's some impressive driving 👍

He used the identical car to me (same colour and everything) yet he managed a time that shouldn't be possible, maybe I should start using my driving wheel, the ol' DS2 just doesn't seem to stack up

Very nice lap Zikwik 👍

[sarcasm]
I did manage to beat it as you'll see in my attached race (please disregard the change in car)
[/sarcasm]

I checked rotbarsch1979's replay. It's good. 👍

Congrats to all. Looks like I missed a nice race. But just didn't have the time to do it.

there is a video of my run on my site 👍
I checked it out, same exact car I used, and it looked like the same speeds around almost all corners (your last corner was very well done), yet you were just so much more stable everywhere and didn't lose much time spinning tires. Very nice lap dude 👍

BTW, I'm slightly curious to see Curtis's and ZikWik's settings to see how similar or different they were to have produced an almost equal time.

Very interesting point T13R. 👍
I'm interested to see how the settings worked for each of them as well.
Would work as excellent data in my research about settings and the results of certain setups. :sly:

If either zik wik or hotboi could post settings I would appreicate it greatly (even more so if both of you could do it). 👍

Until next time,
-Kent

And bigrew, yes that is "jet" :D

Green flags updated on post #1.

Here's my craptastic replay.

Great times,people.
I gave all I got for this race, far from a podium but had a lot of fun.
Still surprised(all week though) how close times are with such a combo.👍

Watched MisterWeary and Cyril's replays.
As usual clean.👍

I checked rotbarsch1979's replay. It's good. 👍
Thanks again for checking the file, made me sleep better that night. :dopey:

And was I the only person to use the oldie but goldie '99 version of the car?

Just checked sjaak's and cyril's replays, both perfectly clean 👍

I've watched all the PAL replays now and the difference in driving style is incredible, sjaak never completely comes off the accelerator, Cyril drifted with pinpoint accuracy and Zikwik had almost no tyre squeal whatsoever. It's interesting how different our styles can be but how similar our times are...from all the info I've gathered it's seems conclusive I brake to late and accelerate too late, exit speed is crucial...watch out Fuji...here I come!!!

I wonder how you can compare Zikwik's times, Sjaak's time and my time and condlue that it's interesting how similar our times are.
Do you have something special to ask me ??? I'm almost 3 full seconds behind Zikwik, that's not what I call 'similar' :odd:
Not that I mind it, but I would have concluded that limiting the wheelspin was the key to fast times. But I know, I enjoy a controlled drift, even if it costs a handful a seconds :D

One thing I learned in the WRS is, as you mention, that the exit speed is much more important than the entry speed. Ok, if you're fast at all times it's better, but if you have to choose between braking too late and braking too soon, just brake too soon. You'll have time to point your car towards the exit and be sooner on the gas.
It tooks me months between the time I realized this and the time I actually could brake earlier. That creepy little voice in your head saying "no no no... not now, wait until the 100m sign. No no no, wait a little bit more, until the beginning of the rumble strip. No no no, wait again, until the 50m sign." And in the end you always end up in the grass/sand/wall :(

No luck! :( We even whipped out the old PS2 that couldn't read discs and tried that... Lol.

Anywho, Cyril, if Pat(Tuff240) watches it and declares it clean, is that good enough? He's my roommate so, that's kind of the easy way to do it.

wait... 1 last thing to try out

put in the gt4 disc, and let the laser read the disc
then shut off the ps2 and then change discs as fast as you can

by putting in a regular ps2 game disc, b4 the maxdrive disc
it sometimes works for me
