just came back from school while you had a 2 hour session *g*
think i have to get used to that..
after the meal i´ll give it a try 👍

looks like a good setup:tup: , exept why did u elect to use ASM at 2 for under and over steer, i have never ever used ASM in my life?? i cant use my DFP this week as when i press the right paddle to go up a gear, it changes up 2 gears in one press, any body know how to fix that?

Thanks, and it's a fair question about the ASM. Basically I only got an hour in, so I haven't tweaked the setup fully. But I sometimes do end up with a small setting on either over or under quite often. I like a very neutral car on the DFP, and the over/under settings on ASM don't seem to rob power like TCS, so I use it!

Now I have a question. I see you put toe on the rear in your setup? I put it on the front because it wanted to stabilize the front going down the stairs, and that seemed to work.

As for the paddle problem, I have heard you need to re-solder the switch connections on the board. I've had the problem a long time and have never done anything about it. I just upshift with the sequential. :dopey:

Nice splits BTW. 👍

i also used ASM last night. i would credit kart for first having the idea of using a bit of ASM... in gt mode of corse, so we can have it at a level of 1 or 2. its very good for understeery cars...

i also used TCS, just to get used to the handling of the car, but i´m pretty sure that later in the week we will only be using the LSD accel to counter the wheelspin...

anyway, i had a quick go, and i had the following:

16´5xx
53´7xx

kind of a rough lap, still miles to go, but i really liked the week. had a 16´0 in T1, but just once. setup needs a bit of tuning, but i changed the auto setting of the gears to 11, and i used a -4 toe in the front.

back with more later:tup:

No worries Rob ... Jerome was filling in while I went to visit England over the Christmas break (I was actually in Manchester for a few days and live in Chester, just down the motorway).

Board updated ... if I missed anyone, please give me a shout.

Hiya Nat. FYI, MADFORCE is Div.1

He's one of the fast guys over at gtrp. And BTW, welcome to WRS MADFORCE. I hope you have fun with us "mad" people. :)

yeah, this combo makes more fun than the last one 👍

00:16,306
00:53,003

and i got a new time, found someting in the last sector

Just improved my sector times my 2 seconds. Had a fantastic last sector on this lap

T1: 17.310
T2: 56.849

Just going to submit my time. :)

Very upset with myself this morning

Threw away a 15.9x and a 52.9x

This is the first GT Mode combo that I've actually enjoyed. Keep up the good work Flat-O 👍

I appreciated this congrats even more since they come from a hard core Arcade fan about a GT Mode race 👍
As for the work, setting up the next races plus my personal website keep me pretty busy : no time to race over the past 2 weeks, and no time expected this week either. :(

Casio, are you still racing around with a bone stock car?

Anywho, I've sat down and done some racing... Using Holl's settings, which I LOVE for the most part, and will just leave them as they are, well, my BB is 3/3, but that's not making a difference... I'm even managing alright with the DS2 this week. Here's what I'm down to so far;
T1: 16.591(seen 16.40x?)
T2: 53.833(don't know what the fastest I've seen here, but couldn't have been more than maybe a tenth or two faster than this one)

I think I'm down to the whittling stages now, after about 2 hours work...

A couple of things I noticed though:

-TCS on will make you lose time over the jumps after T2, UNLESS you are going fast enough. Fast enough for me has been about 124-125mph over the big jump where it normally cuts your power. If you go at least that fast, it normally gets back on the power so you land with your wheels spinning instead of them going slower, thus slowing you down. It can make a pretty big difference, so try to maximize your speed out of that turn, right after T2.

This week likes it's corner cut, very much so... Allows the correct line to be taken, and etc. I think to really get the most out of this week, you need to use the sections that are exit run-offs for going around the normal direction as wide entrances for the turns. It's HARD though! But, that was the key for me getting my speed up for that turn after T2... Swing wide and be braking on the area to the right before you cut left and clip the rumble on the left in the middle of the turn. If any of this mumbo jumbo makes sense.

Casio, are you still racing around with a bone stock car?

No actually. Hol and I had a chat yesterday, and I had to go at his settings. Worked for me pretty well, except still slightly understeery for me, so knocked the rear camber up and the front down a bit. I also made the front a tad higher then the rear, for no other reason then I always do.

I'm using my TCS as 1, it probably is possible to go faster without it, but it's much too hard with all the bumps and kerb cutting I do.

The corner I'm really having trouble getting right is the Right-Angled Left second turn. I just can't find a good consistent line through there and I know there is one.

This one's tough  I've had much better splits than these but this is my first clean lap, goals in brackets:

T1: 0'16.433 (0'16.2xx)
T2: 0'53.717 (0'53.2xx)
Finish: 1'xx.xx0 (-0'00.6xx)

I'm getting frustrated mainly with the first chicane, I can take it properly about 1 in 4 times I approach it, I guess it's a good thing a corner like that is at the beginning of the lap rather than the end but it's still giving me the irits :irked:

Well, I'm really nailing T1 now, but I'm losing it coming to T2 ... finishing much stronger than I did last night, but T2 is a big weakness of mine.
T1: 16.299
T2: 54.649

Gawd!

Manchester?

Why?

Why?

Why?

Manchester's a good place to drive through, like Birmingham!

Is there not enough polution in your body already?

The rumour that the moon was made of cheese came from the Liverpool/manchester area I'm sure, I grew up thinking that the moon 'should' be orange!

But Chester's not so bad, at least it has a real race track (Oulton Park) near it!

I can see clearly now, the moon is white! (to paraphrase a song, partly)

Clear air, blue sky, bright clear stars! Wouldn't go back now, lung's couldn't handle it!

Well I don't want to get too much off topic, but I'm born and raised in Chester, my sister lives in Liverpool, my mum and dad in Waverton (near Chester), so I flew into Manchester and met some friends there.

hmm, intersting idea with the ASM i'll have to try that next gtmode race that happens to be a race car:tup:

i put the rear toe -1 basically cos i read (as the message scrolled down on the screen when u highlight the rear toe section in the game), that if u give it a slight toe out (ie. negative number i'm presuming) u will gain extra cornering ability with the sacrificing of a little bit of desired oversteer. the car felt good through the tight corners:tup:

also seen a 15.835 T1 split, that was pure insanity that i never replicated again.

I'm currently running a hybrid of 'Shunt's settings and yours ... I started with his, and I've been dragging various settings over to yours and testing them. I found that your TCS of 1 was enough and I was quicker without the ASM settings of 2 (although that may be just be). Likewise, your toe being on the rear instead of the front works better for me.

I'll 2nd that Dan, thx for the settings man, your settings work for me very well about 99.5% of the time. And Steve I too will try your asm settings and feel the difference and see if I like it.

Currently managing to get under 54 for the second split, so I'm getting there 👍

Catch is, on my current best lap I FLEW through the final couple of corners and I just can't match it, so my ghost is beating me everytime on the final leg, even though I have her beat at the T2 point :(

Ah well, I'm thoroughly enjoying this, so back into the fray tomorrow!!!

Lol, that's what I thought... But again, what you do with camber, would, in my real life mind, INCREASE understeer... But, I agree that your front higher than the rear would indeed reduce some of that understeer... Time for me to have another go!

New splits, I touched the wall at the bottom of the hill after these splits. So these splits are nice and clean, but I destroyed my lap. Argh!

T1 - 15.997
T2 - 52.813

If the lap is dirty, I can't post the splits ... can I?

Wow! Lots to talk about here. 👍

Nat. I don't see the harm in putting up Casio's time. If I know him, he will have it cleaned up and bettered in the next day or so anyway. 👍

I have the feeling this will be Casio's last week in D2. Anyone else get that feeling? :sly: Nice splits mate!

As far as setups go, I don't think anyone could ever go wrong using holl01's setups. 👍 They are always fast, tight, and flat handling. But sometimes I think that him using the DS2 must be a little different than the DFP, because this week, I just can't make his setup work for me.

To tell the truth, for me, GT4 setups are very frustrating. Sometimes I wonder if there is any rhyme or reason to it at all. :indiff:
GT3 setups, I understood well. In a previous life, I built and setup sportsracers in SCCA, and the GT3 settings followed very well what I used to do in RL. But I have to say that with GT4, a lot of times I'm just lost when trying to reason out why I do a setup a certain way. So I just start at some point with a setup, by turning off aids and lsd, and run a lap. Then it's just a matter of doing this and that till it feels fast and comfortable.
I really hate doing it that way! I end up getting settings that to me, make no sense, but seem to work. It shouldn't be that way. 👎

Anyway, moving on. MisterWeary don't worry about only getting 1 of 4 at the first chicane. That's about right if you're really trying to nail it. It's either going to be perfect or shunted.

I just got done with a nice session. Played around with a lot of settings just for the hell of it, but actually came back to the one I posted last night. Never thought it was that great of a setup, but again it just feels right.

I'm kinda choked 'cause my best lap turned out to have a wall spike in it that I couldn't feel, but can see on the analyzer. It was a beauty of a lap, (T1-15.928 T2-52.278) and the finish after T2 was perfect, which is about a 1 in 4 proposition in itself.
So anyway, my best clean lap so far is:

T1: 16.046
T2: 52.305

But I'm not going to rest on this one. I didn't hit the stairs right, and lost .25 at the end. I'll have to give it at least one more go to try and clean up that last sector.

It's a hell of a race you've served up this week Cyril. 👍

Later all!

Wow this combo is alot harder than I thought. I was really getting frustrated earlier. Got the first chicane down pretty good but kept losing alot of time between T1 and T2, but i think it's because of the really early braking coming into the T2 interval. Finally got a few good laps down in a row and I've already seen enough of this combo. It's such a tough track for a car this powerful.

T1: 16.259
T2: 53.221
