Week 65 : Audi RS4 '01 @ Tokyo R246 (2 laps)

Game mode :
GT Mode / European Events / Schwarzwald Liga B / Race 2 at Tokyo R246 (2 laps)
pre-qualification is allowed to start better than 6th on the grid (disregard this, you can't because it's not a championship race)


Car specifications :
Audi RS4 '01 with the following restrictions :
(car can be purchased at the Audi dealer) corrected

• no power upgrades except port polish, engine balancing and an oil change (423 hp maximum) ;
• no NOS ;
• no wing ;
• sport soft tyres or harder ;
• all other parts are allowed ;

Race rules :
Standard clean OLR rules :

• 2 wheels on track at all time ;
• rumble strips are part of the track ;
• any tarmac, concrete or cobblestone area is part of the track.
• no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible ;
• no contact with AI ;
• if you're not 100% sure that you lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;
• no hybrids ;
• no cheating of any kind ;
• nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules ;
• save your replay ('save replay' icon).

Thread rules :
You can discuss anything in the thread (T times, sector times, speeds, settings, etc) except :

• lap time ;
• final race time ;
• any information which can be used to infer lap/race time.

Submission :
All submissions must be sent to me by PM (flat-out).

• you can submit only once per race ;
• please include in your submission PM your division, name and time(s) ;
• deadline is tuesday 25th july 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 10pm, Paris 11pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).

Time verification :
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted.

• fastest times each week will be required to submit with verification ;
• any submitted time is subject to a time verification request ;
• when a time verification has been required, the concerned racer must provide a replay before next race deadline ;
• failure to do so will result in the submitted time to be removed for the WRS results and/or GTPlanet Times Database ;
• video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified.

EDIT: Forgot to add. I assume we're not allowed to use Uber-Save 0km versions of this car? Does the car come in a 10km version? I hope it's not impossible to find like the 22b week.

EDIT2: Don't worry. You can buy it in the NEW CARS section in Audi. So I'll make the assumption that we can use that.

The Audi RS4 '01 is not in the 'Official GTP used car list' .xls doc.

Seems to only be available new.

the car is one of my all time favorites and the liga b races as well.
if you win all of them you get the merc evo touring car.
it's no tourney so you just have to start from 6.

If you qualify in 1st then start the race, you can't restart without qualifying again (both races 1 & 2) can you? (not at the ps2 so I can't check at the moment)

It's actually pretty tricky to over take them all by the first corner, you need a great start.

Second lap was a little scrappy, and the setup is not perfect, so loads to find.

Understeery b;tch of a car this one, pity that Audi insisted on mounting the engine infront of the headlights until the latest models. Now they have moved it rearwards(somewhat) and lightened the lump a great deal, their RL cars handle better.

oh and you can't pre-qualify in this race because it itsn't part of a championship series...

and some splits to get started... dunno how quick they are, just using some quick dodge settings on it... hopefully another 1-2 seconds left in it, unless someone can come up with a killer setting to make this sucker faster

thanks for the compliment, i think it was this sucker that suggested it to old cyril a lil while ago.

It's actually pretty tricky to over take them all by the first corner, you need a great start.

actually it's very easy to end up first before corner #1. dare to set the tranny low enough and take in a lil aid. the bastard thing is to brake early enough not to end up in the blockings.

please stop insulting one of my favorite car brands. actually the rs4 is one of the greatest cars of all. it's just that flatout tells us not to use a wing. this makes it a very different and understeery car. perhaps if he knew this he would reconsider. let's ask him to trade the wing for, say, the brake thingy or sports to medium tyres.

if more people have difficulties setting up the car, i might give mine as a hint. or then again i might not: maybe i end up in the middle of div3 for once
the trick is to induce some oversteer and soft enough chassis for semi-city cornering.

Actually, the RS4 does understeer in real life as well... And, if you really like Audis, and plan on actually owning one, do yourself a favor and sell it before it has 40,000 miles on it.

Anywho, Cyril, I think you've really done it this week... Between the car, the mode, the tires, the power limitations, mmmmmmmmmmm. I'm going to love it! (I hope!) I NEED TIME TO PLAY!!!

I suck at GTMode WRS weeks...
The only reason I won the last GTMode race was holl's settings worked for me...
I can't tune for beans...

As for the understeering tendancy, well, a wing just looks awfully on an estate, doesn't it ?
You'd better adjust the VCD to remove traction on the front, or put harder tyres on the rear.

Okay, I was hoping to come in on an easier race, but I guess I'll hop on in on this one after work. I definitely didn't want to try and start on last week's, because I'm really horrible, and doubt I could get a clean lap that was worth anything.

Oh, and wouldn't this be WRS Week 66, due to the fact that the ring race was a two weeker?
