Care to post some settings? Those are some awesome splits 👍

Off the top of my head, they were pretty basic settings for curbing understeer:

11/5
150/110
2/6
2/6
1.6/.7
0/0
1/1

Gears: default
VCD: 10
Aids: ASM Understeer 3
no LSD

That's basically it I think 👍

Aids: ASM Oversteer 3
 ;)

Done some hotlapping to test set-ups. Fastest splits so far,

0'15.076
1'01.833

No aids, 1.5 way diffs and VCD set to 20. Meddled a bit with suspension and adjusted gearing slightly. Brake bias set to 14/10, starts to drift on turn-in (DriFtERs 4Eva. :sly: ).

Suspension could use a (lot) bit more fine tuning but I'll give a few races a go with what I've got for now.

V Edit V:

Maybe I am getting faster because my splits seem to be closer to div 1 than usual.
T1 24.351
1'12.523
T1 15.321
1'02.861
It still puts me in last for the leaderboard but its all gravy

Just a minute, omelettes, I'll be on it soon and I'll be in last. Don't you worry. When you see my times, you'll know I am to be the undisputed last placer. ;p

Flat-out
You'd better adjust the VCD to remove traction on the front...

That's the best piece of advice right there. 👍 I softened the suspension, adjusted gearing, and did a bunch of practice laps. I forgot to add the VCD until it was mentioned here. It really changed the dynamic of the car and allowed me to breakthough a barrier. Thanks, Cryil.

Gentleman (& Ladies?),
I am relatively new to the WRS. My question is:

Is weight reduction included in "all other parts are allowed?"

I want to make sure I'm in compliance.

Best regards!

Yes, weight reduction is fine 👍

I'm worried I've done something wrong because here are my first splits:

T1: 0`23.407
T2: 1`09.171
T1: 0`15.152
T2: 1`00.418

I've never beat ICEman before so I'm wondering if there's an NTSC vs PAL thing or something because my power is exactly what Cyril suggests and my tyres are SS and I can still see a whole second or so left in it for me

Okay, it is just as I had expected, but I haven't done any weight reduction yet. Didn't realize that was okay.

So I've put in a few tries so far and my times are inevitably far behind everyone else's. Ah well, I'm here to get better and playing the game more will make me better. No need in being embarassed about something I'm proclaiming so boldly.

Lap 1
T1 '24.298
T2 1'15.383
Lap 2
T1 '16.819
T2 1'07.944

Other lap where I finished a bit faster because of my second lap being much better...

Lap 1
T1 '24.803
T2 1'15.610
Lap 2
T1 '16.581
T2 1'06.408

There will be a good bit of improvement, I guess, but I'm just not that good at the game.

I suppose it could be a wing? But, my time is easily beatable, I only did 3 races.

Nope, I didn't install the wing, I just did another quick session after checking everything and slashed half a second even with a bad finish to lap 2:

T1: 0`23.199
T2: 1`09.181
T1: 0`14.973
T2: 1`00.379

I'm using your settings exactly except for lengthening fourth gear so I didn't have to change gears just before T2. I guess you did only have a quick session though, still, I've never been this quick off the bat, it takes me ages to get a good time.

Nice times Weary!

I'm using a hybrid of Iceman's and my own setup. I don't understand why his front ride height is so high though. It feels like I'm driving a pickup truck with a load of dirt in the back! :dopey:

Race 1:

Lap 1:
T1:24.080
T2:1'11.475
Lap 2:
T1:15.718
T2:1'02.519

Going to do the three race thing real quick so I can spend some time on redoing my qual race(curious) and maybe work on my JGTC Qualifying if I have time... Just went out and bought the car and went directly to the race. Initial settings were just my normal stiffening of the springs, softening of the dampers, and lowering, along with the LSD settings dropped to 5 all around, and the VCD set to 10 for the least amount of traction issues when getting on the gas. I wish there was a 0 setting, because this car needs it! Also did my normal tranny setting, and only slightly made it too high. First lap was spent trying to figure out how to drive the thing with that much understeer, second lap was a little better.

After the first race I stiffened the front end further to try and dial out some of the weight transfer to the front(oversteer when braking and letting off throttle, tucks in nicely, maybe a little too nicely), and shortened the gearing. Might move rear axle's Decel setting up to 10 on the third race.

Flat-out
Yeah, didn't you see in your mirrors all race stewards rushing to add extra walls once you've passed them on lap 1 ?

I edited post #1 to remove the pre-qualif thing.
As for the understeering tendancy, well, a wing just looks awfully on an estate, doesn't it ?
You'd better adjust the VCD to remove traction on the front, or put harder tyres on the rear.

or raise the "acceleration" on the LSD at the front to between 25-30...

Eh, screw three runs... Was having too much fun with the challenge of the understeer and the tuning! I'm not really using much of the tuning that I posted ish before, but I definitely do like using the LSD at 5s except for the rear Decel which is at 10, compared with the Factory(stock) LSD. I'm currently at:

Lap1
T1:23.236
T2:1'09.280
Lap2
T1:15.245
T2:1'01.227

Definitely tired. Been nodding off for the past half an hour... Gnight!

23.198
1'08.986

15.028
1'00.615

another 20 minutes into this understeering biatch!!!

KLR142
I'd think that would make it worse... Does it not??? 💡

that is how i got my initial splits, but i was "hitting the wall" with the amount of time i could further extract out with that setting, a little too much understeer with it still so i took it off altogether now

Chhers for the settings ICEman, they look much better than my settings which i maxed out time-wise last night.
23.248
1.09.854
15.413
1.01.267
Broke my initial target at the end, but im sure theres still seconds to come off with a different set up

here's my 2 cents worth of t-times. nice to find a contender of my (subway) level here at wrs, banofevil!

lap 1
t1 24.248
t2 1.13.926

lap2
t1 16.462
t2 1.05.510

probably won't brake THAT barrier this week, not with cyril banning the wing to this baby.
still lots of work to be done to the tuning. iceman's setup is good but way too soft and oversteery to my taste (not that i am to say anything but still ...).

What a fun combo!!

Here are my first splits, after about 2 hours of tuning and racing and tuning and racing and tuning and racing and...

L1T1: 23.505
L1T2: 1'11.033

L2T1: 15.444
L2T2: 1'02.155

My settings:
Susp:
6.0/6.0
83/100
3/4
6/8
3.0/1.0
0/0
5/4

Trans:
1st: 3.000
2nd: 1.950
3rd: 1.375
4th: 1.105
5th: 0.910
6th: 0.735
Final: 4.560
I started with the default gears and manually set each gear to my liking. There is no automatic setting that will get you the above gears. The power-band in this car is between 5K and 7K RPM, and these gears keep it right there the whole time, and I almost max out the redline on the front straight at the end of lap 1 in 6th gear. If you find 6th gear too short for your liking, you can of course make it a taller gear (lower number). But I recommend keeping 3rd 4th and 5th as close as they are -- keeps it in the power-band for a greater period of time.

Aids 0/0/2 (The TCS is at 2 to prevent wheelspin at launch, but it's not enough to affect the car at any other point on the track.)

VCD 10% Front

LSD 5/10/5 & 5/15/7

I have just a tiny bit of understeer -- let off the gas a bit and it comes back in line just fine on just about any corner. I'd like to have a tiny bit less understeer, so I may try Aids at 1/0/2.

If anyone has any suggestions to change my settings, I'm listening.

EDIT: I forgot to mention my Brake Balance: 5/8

Well any time I've tried to do settings mine are crap. So once again I've just gone with someone else's. But from what I've observed, essentially you don't want the computer taking over any part of your driving so TCS and ASM and LSD I've always tried to dial out completely. You don't need TCS off the line, you can just jump on the gas as soon as the countdown is finished and she takes off sweet as anything 👍 This car does understeer though so having ASM understeer is quite helpful for that. Even with a month to work on settings I would never have found a setup that drives as sweetly as the settings ICEman gave so Kudos to Ben 👍 👍 👍

T1: 23.116
T2: 1.08.908

T1: 15.280
T2: 1.00.770

I always hate doing the first corner at max speed since I can never see the correct spot to brake.

Had one from 15.250 -> 1.00.616 and a seperate 15.050

Im seeing the time now, i made a randy/iceman hybrid setup. Ive seen 23.0's and 1.08.7's with it, second lap hasnt happened that much though, (i like to restart) but ive seen 15.1 and 1.00.3, these arent splits for the leaderboard btw.

T1 : 0'23.401
T2 : 1'09.947
T1 : 0'15.591
T2 : 1'01.877

T times don't show it but my final time has been shaved by .443

Had another few tries and tweaked the setting a bit more. New T2s are 1'08.9 and 1'00.3. Didn't finish well on the last lap so I only took .3 off my previous time.

Its oh so clean!! I got a clean race in

22.961
1.08.799 lost .2
15.153 lost .1
1.00.563 lost .1
found .1 in the last sector somehow...
Broke my target 👍 2.7 seconds off my previous time.
same setting i posted above

spent an hour on it with the same setup as iceman and managed
22.988

1'08.377

15.008
1'0.110

tim submitted

Looks like my reign of terror at the top of the leaderboard is well and truly over...T1 on lap 2 is MINE though!!!!! :)

Board Updated

P.S I also find it amusing when the divisions have a natural split like they do right now
