We're back to Japan this week, on the famous track of Motegi. The car has more than enough power for its light weight, but we'll be able to show our setting skills so as to neutralize the understeering tendancy induced by the sports tyres. Have fun :)

the car is a beaut. the track is short but cool. gt mode - no else for me. AND no more N-tyres. looks like this is going to be a fun week. thanks to cyril for his creativity.

Mmm... And just when I discovered the TVRs, I get two OLRs with TVRs on the same week. Perfect.

GT Mode... All parts allowed, basically (except NOS and wing), right? NA2, isn't it the limit?

Motegi's challenging for me, should be fun - it's got something VERY similar to a city-course, with all those sharp bends.

Well, I'm not keen on GT Mode myself.
I may have a go at this, but I found 76 so addictive I may continue on that  .
Nice car, ok track.

T1: 0'32.458
T2: 1'01.932

Basic setup so far:
Front/Rear
Springs: 8.0/9.0
Height: 77/82
Bound: 4/4
Rebound: 6/6
Toe: 0/0
Camber: 1.0/0.0
Rollbars: 4/5
No LSD, yet.
Gearing: Auto 12 (Is it just me, or does the car always have only 5 gears? Normally, Full-custom tranny gives a 6th gear)
Brake-balance: 6/4

Opinions: Sexy combo - sunset, narrow road, convertible. But still - It's harder to keep clean than the Musclecars. Is it just me, or does braking on those S3s take ages - even before the black brake-zones? Come on, either I ****ed up something in the suspension, or it's a crappy car... Which I hope it isn't. I mean, even keeping the TVR Tuscan clean, on N2s (!), around the Nurburgring (That other OLR) is easier. At least I don't have to brake SO hard SO often...

No, your right, this car is simply an ass in braking :irked:

Lots of understeer as well, fixed by throwing all of its weight to the rear, Woohooo!

Yeah, that's why I added some higher rear, to increase weight shifting during braking, making the brakes somewhat more efficient, I guess, and increase rear weight-transfer, for a bit more oversteer (which is badly needed). But seriously, I never thought a TVR would be so tough to run... After all, the Tuscan runs good on N2 tyres at the 'Ring.

And Ben: If you don't do this week, who knows where you'll end up - perhaps all that free time will bring you into the scary, mysterious real world.

Ah, you see, I still have 2 other OLR's to stop me going into, what's that, the real world? What is it, I only know GT4? :P

(For those unsure me and Metar talked about this elsewhere LOL)

Best T2 at 1'00.462

Got rid of some understeer by harden the front springs, soften the rear springs, lowered the rear ride height lower then the front. Stabilise the front by 4, nothing on the rear (1), and thrown everything to the rear (rear balance 50).

The car feels messy though, you've got a feeling like there is missing something in there...

It seems like you're defying the laws of Scaff's tuning. Softer front should make less understeer, harder front more oversteer. Gotta try it out if it works for you, though.

Try it, it's just me bitching around, because a Tuscan on N2s brakes better than this one, on the Nurb'.

No, I tested without a rollcage but the car still understeers and the braking is not much more efficient.
A good setup and early braking points should be the keys.

I found some very on-the-limit braking points, usually very close to the time when the thingy flashes... and still allowing me to cut two wheels on the grass, for a "bigger" corner.

Nope, it's boring as hell - you drive, you get back on power, get the wheel on the Tarmac. Didn't get any special thingys... By the way - that sweeping right-hander after one of the "mini-tunnels"... Can you do those full-throttle? I can't manage with this car, while others do it easily..

I did it full throttle, but it's purely luck, sometimes, I let off the throttle for a sec. to ensure being clean, you can however go full throttle and come out with 2-wheels on the track. Another option is to take your inside wheels on the dirt just for a sec. but watch it as you can spin very easily here.

Will give this combo a few runs when i get back from school

after a first coupla laps i got following t's starting out by fumes' gtvault setup but then doing serious alterations like redoing brakes, undoing lsd and setting up the chassis rather extremely.

32.268 - 1.00.741

laptime came down almost 2 seconds after implementing my own setup.
probably more to come in the course of the week, but tomorrow's the deadline for my own no rules thingy so i'll have to see ...

btw what a weird car - totally unlike the cerbaras which are subzero in the cool wall to me.

Very tough to set up this car :yuck: ... so far I'm at T2 - 59.707 in my best save but with a nice set up this will go down by quite a bit 👍

I wouldn't say that the brakes are that bad on this car... I mean, it is a 400+hp car towing around only something pretty light, isn't it? Take it for a drive with some race tires and let me know how bad it is then. Come on guys, can't blame the cars for the tires! :P

Haven't tried it yet. Might get something in later tonight. For now I must go clean the floor up in the old duplex before we find out what part of our deposit we get back...

I'll have to see what I'm doing later this week, but I will try to make a time for the WRS this week for sure!

Looks likes fun, nice Flat-Out.:D

Well I hybridised setups that I've seen work before and came up with these splits:

T1: 0`30.317
T2: 0`58.000

I still reckon there's another second or so out there so we'll see. The settings I changed are:
  • Ride Height: 122, 67
  • Dampers: 1, 1, 1, 1
  • Gearbox: Auto 11
  • ASM Oversteer: 0
  • ASM Understeer: 1
  • TCS Controller: 0
  • LSD Torque: 5
  • LSD Accel: 60
  • LSD Decel: 5
All the rest are stock 👍

This week looks like fun:tup:, but I would be more at home if it was the full
course because of all the testing I have done there. Oh well I will see if my
DFP will help me this week.

Right here goes
Im driving this car like its the caterham, but with out changing up early.
So in that i start out with Mr P's top tip of asm 1/1 with no tsc,lsd5/30/5 and i moved auto upto 11. Yes i know thats the same as what MisterWeary has said but i had this already before he post. Now i don't believe that most of the suspension setup options do much at all. Just like with caterham im not using all the gears, in this case just 3,4 and 5.

T1: 31.103 but seen much lower
T2: 58.612
👍

ps lots of time to come if all goes right :dopey:

Ok here is what I have gotten so far.

T1-31:549
T2-1:00:345

This is only after 4 laps. And I know I can go faster because of two things,
1:I need about 1 hour to get use to the car,2:I need music to race with.
