Well for 50 weeks now Cyril has pumped out brilliant race after brilliant race and so I thought we could see the end of Cyril's Stewardship with a French car at a French track, neither of which have been used in the WRS before. I know that Cyril attempted to bring variety to the WRS and I hope to continue his legacy. The car is a little ripper and doesn't have too much power, which on this tricky track you'll thank me for! It also only has a single split time so there should be plenty of mystery in the final results.

Please Note: I've posted the race at exactly the time it will be due next week, hopefully that will help people become familiar with the new submission time. Regardless of the result of the submission day poll, this particular race will be due in exactly 7 days (168 hours, 10,080 minutes, etc...) from when this thread was posted.

Week 80 : Hommell Berlinette R/S Coupe '99 @ George V Paris (Normal)

  • +20% power (196 hp)
  • -10% weight (855 kg)

Note: If you find the car is unavailable in Arcade mode then it will need to be purchased in GT Mode from the Hommell Dealer in France for $47,360. Once obtained you will also need to sit in the car (no need to actually race) for Arcade Mode to register that you now own it.

Regular Race Rules:
Standard clean OLR rules:
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible

  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your replay ('save ghost' icon)
Week 80 Race Rules:
As we are using a City Track this week, all areas inside the walls/barriers are considered legal. This includes the concrete parts behind some rumble/ripple strips.

All submissions must be sent by PM to me (MisterWeary):
  • you can submit only once per race
  • please include in your submission PM your division, name and final lap time
  • deadline is Tuesday 7th November 11am GMT (L.A. 4am, Toronto 6am, New York 7am, London 11am, Paris/Berlin/Rome 12 Noon, Syd/Melb 10pm)
  • if you are still unsure of the deadline try this site
Time verification:
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted:
  • fastest times each week will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • when a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay before the next race deadline
  • failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from WRS results
  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified

Hmmmm, this looks interesting :D .
Never tried the Hommel, and I rarely drive on George V Paris either, this week should be a real challenge!

good choice colby - if this is an omen of things to come i think i will stick to wrs for a while or two 👍 👍 👍
maybe we should ask jordan to use his super-superpowers to let cyril win this time without him knowing or minding.

i will try to avoid all curbs as they will make the car jump all over the place.

good luck to all, and don't forget to look at the adjusted deadline time our brand new steward has decided for.

Erm, why not stay for three whiles?

Anyway, I feel bad that I missed Cyril's last race, but at least I could still try this one, if I can find the time on the weekend. Although, I am really bad at George V, so this could be a problem.

Actually, I think I might just do week 79 anyway, so I can save and or post the replay. 👍 I can't just let that race go by.

Addicting combo, Week 75-style. I've noticed on the Hommel before, it just handles so gracefully... It's like W75, only easier car-wise and thougher track-wise. I'll never remember every single turn there (but that's what I said on Week 75, too).

nice car, the slightly light rear end is good fun to play with...

racing lines are critical to ensure momentum in this car, the wrong line costs tenths easy...

T1: 41.588

another 0.8 max left out on the track, gunna be tricky to get it all...

It's definitely gonna be a tricky one. Hopefully people enjoy the challenge. My first split (minus plural this week :sly:)

The car isn't bad, but the track is getting to me. Its so tight.

43.359 (after 10-15 laps) DS2, no aids

Maybe I'll try the DFP on this one.

Doing low 0'44s so far - I like the combo a lot, but it's tough (which is what a combo should be) and interesting. Did anyone notice that the S1 tyres give out blue smoke rather than the usual grey-white? Especially noticable when pushing the throttle (1st-3rd gear) against a wall.

I had almost forgotten how it feels not to know what the next race is and to discover it when it's posted.
I like the Hommel (I might have chosen it last week at El Capitan, but the Alpine was more good-looking), but I'm just crap at George V, reverse or not.
I tend to consider that all turns are exactly 90°, so I brake either not enough if the turn is tighter or too much if the angle is flatter.
Time to practice I guess.

Gotta train for Bobkart's this week so my time has/is will be limited for the wrs, shame too...looks fun. l8trz guys

I do, for one of the turns, for better accelleration - but I guess the shift-time costs me more than it benefits.

George V Paris is a very special track. I think that results should be very close to each other... The first thing - is to know in what direction it is normal and in what it's reverse))))) Just joke))) I haven't been driving there for ages, but I'd love it!

It's still the same track! :sly:

It's the only flaw I can find, you're ruining our typo comps!

Boo, bring back the typo comp.:dopey:

Already missing me... :(

You have taught him too well master. :D

Nice looking combo Colby. I wonder if I'll still be saying that after my first round of pinball. :P

Darren.

I use 1st gear the corner before it tells you to, and the corner it actually tells you to shift to 1st.

Ok after checking my best lap that thought was clean for an hour. It turns out that it is clean but mighty close at one point. :) :)

T1: 41.870

Edit

Sad news :nervous:, it turns out that there is a spike in the data log on this lap. Lap dirty :( :(

Good news:

Iv gone and done a quicker lap and this time its 100% clean :sly:
