Well I'm trying to address many things this week, we're using a car and track we've never used, we're using a 4WD car which hasn't been used for some time, we're in GT Mode for a multilap race which hasn't been done for a while and the tyres are stickier than we've used for a while (though certainly not too sticky :sly:). The other major change this week is that we're giving NOS another crack 👍 I've also given you exactly 24 more hours than normal with this race since you may need to acquire the car.

Week 81 : Audi Le Mans quattro '03 @ Fuji Speedway 80's

Game Mode:
GT Mode --> World Circuits [typo #1] --> City Courses[/typo #1]--> Fuji Speedway 80's --> Family Cup (any difficulty, 2 laps)

Germany --> "Audi Le Mans quattro '03" with the following restrictions:
  • This week you are allowed to use NOS!
  • No other power mods allowed
  • Oil change allowed (673 hp)
  • No wing
  • All other non-power modifications allowed (1269 kg)
  • "Racing - Super hard" tyres

  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your replay ('save ghost' icon)
Week 81 Race Rules:
When you enter the Family Cup it will ask what difficulty you want, you can choose any difficulty since you'll fly past them all before the first corner anyway. Note also that using up all your NOS over two laps may prove challenging.

  • if you are still unsure of the deadline try this site
Time verification:
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted:
  • fastest times each week will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • when a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay before the next race deadline

i must know where you live colby cos i'll be flying in to kiss you on the cheeks.
this is my true all time favorite gt4 and irl concept (now production) car on a nice and wide and very fast race track.

i'll attach some pictures of the car that is now called the r8 and will cost eur150k in our country.

Honestly that looks a lot better in GT4, the black trim ruins it IMO. But, that's why I am going to attempt this for sure. I keep saying I will but never do. This tuesday I will have plenty of time, so expect to see me in the results!

I don’t have much time, but this is an interesting combo so I’ll put a little bit in.

i was hoping for a multilapper sooner or later, would like to do a 10 lapper soon (hint, hint colby)

will give this a crack soonish...

and i dont think Fuji is a city course either... ;)

well spent some time driving this thing around, understeer to liftoff oversteer can be quite amusing, although not necessarily the quickest way around...

Lap 1
T1: 24.104
T2: 42.408
T3: 58.447

Lap 2
T1: 21.295
T2: 39.529
T3: 55.301

would like to find another 1-2 seconds before the week is out...

Fuji is under "world circuits," "city courses" are a totally different area (specifically located in the top right side of the GT map).

👍 to the willingness to do an "odd" combo MisterWeary. 👍
Also, don't let the complaints get to you, Nitrous is fine (although I don't suggest using ever again ;) ).

If I get the chance I will run this but I can't garuntee any time so...
Until next time,
-

Hmm... I like the combo, except for the nitrous. I don't think I'll ever find the proper dose. Car looks wonderfull, though, and drives beautifully too. Fastest german 4WD on the quartermile, too.

And did you just bring back the typo comp?

Superb car, track that's not as obnoxious as its successors, and nitrous? Well I don't know what to make of the nitrous because I hardly ever use it, but this should indeed be an interesting week with a very fast car on a very fast track.

And i dont think Fuji is a city course either... ;)

Great...The typo comps alive and well. :P

:tup:Nice combo Colby, I'll get right on it and get some times up later tonight.👍

Should be a bit easier to keep it clean this week. :banghead:

Darren.

If the opinion of a 'not here as often as he used to' WRS member, has any weight?

I see that the complaining, whinging, argumentative side that has crept into the WRS is still alive and kicking!

(One of the reasons I don't frequent it as much as I used to, BTW.)

No-one should be complaining about it when the steward of a series like this posts a combo that is different to the norm!
It's combos like this, with a twist, that keep guys coming back!

Is NOS not fitted to the car in RL? (By some people anyway:sly:)
Is this combo populated by race cars or 'hopped-up' street cars?

If the answers to the above are : Yes & 'hopped-up' street cars................
Maybe you should re-read the front cover of the game-box!

Perhaps, you should give Colby a break, get on with the fun part of it and start racing, instead of whinging about the bleedin NOS!

This has been a wake-up call from Ballstothewall, brought to you by Kronenbourg 1663, the real beer that caused the composer to lose his place.
And sponsored by the dept of 'start acting like adults and start playing the game, Putz!'

Hmm... That's a pretty militant post. All I've done was to point out that Nitrous, while a fun addition to OLR in some races, is still not something I used.

Neil and Darren competing this week?

More a semi-sarcastic soliloquies about my observations over the last few months, and triggered by post#2.

To criticise like that, in the 1st reply to a combo, as Colby has only just taken over......................?

And for those that need a dictionary...

SOLILOQUIES
so·lil·o·quy (s-ll-kw) Pronunciation Key Audio pronunciation of "soliloquies" [P]
n. pl. so·lil·o·quies

1. A dramatic or literary form of discourse in which a character talks to himself or herself or reveals his or her thoughts without addressing a particular listener.
2. A specific speech or piece of writing in this form of discourse.
3. The act of speaking to oneself.

Well people don't have to like the combo every week, that's to be expected but yeah, no need to voice your distaste, just skip the race if it's not to your liking 👍

As for the typo comp, I knew people were disappointed last week when my perfection didn't allow for a typo so I *purposely* put this one in :sly:

No need to worry about my statement regarding the use of NOS, I simply don't like it and that's just mine opinion.
I don't like it in RL, I rather use "turbo" ;)
And I'll race this week, 'cause every new race is a new and "unknown" challenge (at least for me).
No hard feelings MisterWeary 👍

Neil and Darren competing this week?

Yup, should have the time to turn a wheel or two!

V.busy & distracted in RL at the mo, having 1/2 of the ground-floor of the house re-modeled at the minute.

Neil

WOW! I said I was going to do this, and now it's definate. I just gave it a go and had this:
L1
T1:25.465
T2:44.235
T3:1'00.264
L2
T1:22.077
T2:41.446
T3:57.918
Now, at the beginning, it's tricky because I had to pass everyone. I set the difficulty to -1, and I'm sure if I set it lower my first lap would be a bit quicker. Also, the brakes suck, and the NOS is hard to figure out the best time to use. Otherwise it's a fun race!

And, just like any other race, (but I'm just noticing now) the race is difficult or boring at first, and you really don't want to keep going. But, if you really love GT4, you will find another tactic, and it will most likely work after a few tries. When I started this challenge, I went off track so many times and couldn't pass. I ran out of NOS on the first lap and kept braking in the wrong places. Just now though, on my beat lap...err...race, I actually found the perfect braking point for the first corner, and took the corner very well. I can't remember where I braked exactly, but I know when I find it again it will be easier to remember and my times will drop.
I still have time the rest of the night (it's 8:12 PM here now) and most of tomorrow to race and attempt better times, so expect an improvement! (a big one) 👍

Humm this should be interesting, i didn't do so well last time on a multi lapper. Fuji is a track i need to learn more, so this week will be good for that and im yet to see what the audi is like too.
Think i will give this one a shot on wednesday as i am off

No hard feelings MisterWeary 👍

No dramas 👍

Like I said, I don't expect everyone to like the combos, I just hope to put forward interesting and varying challenges each week that are at least somewhat based on the suggestions of people here. So keep on contributing to the suggestions thread just keep in mind I want to keep variety 👍

EDIT: Some splits from me:

T1: 0`25.138
T2: 0`43.351
T3: 0`59.926

T1: 0`21.566
T2: 0`39.735
T3: 0`56.031

EDIT2: Board Initialised

after lots of work on the setup to this wonderful but understeery car (on r1's anyway) finally i managed 2 clean rounds of which i forgot to save the first one.

24.957 - 44.238 - 1.01.614
22.197 - 41.631 - 0.58.791

still fiddling with the settings for lsd and aids. currently it's set at 6x10 and 2-3-1. some help from the div1 aliens would be greatly appreciated. my current setup i took from gtvault otherwise handles understeer well enough.

Well my setup is pretty standard, I applied all the mods and then set Aids to 0-0-0 and LSD to 5 all around, everything else is standard at the moment. Oh...I set the NOS to 50 and I use it almost entirely on the back straight. As for taking off, I start in second and have it hitting the rev limiter before you start...gives you a golden take off, just slip right through any level of competitor 👍

ok some new splits and then my settings, pulled another second out of my overall time... hope to get another 0.6-0.8 more out of it yet... and 2nd gear launch is a necessity less you want to bog down with HUGE wheelspin... oh and AI at -10 coz they are a pain in the ass otherwise

Lap 1

T1: 24.174
T2: 42.173
T3: 57.863

Lap 2
T1: 21.162
T2: 39.222
T3: 54.897

Spring Rate: 10.2/9.0
Ride Height: 70/79
Bound: 6/6
Rebound: 7/7
Camber: 2.4/0.5
Toe: 0/1
Stabilisers: 1/1

Brake Balance: 5/5
LSD: F- 5/5/5; R - 5/5/5
NOS: 20
Auto: 14
VCD: 10

still has a couple of rough edges to it this tune does but i will try and iron them out during the week...

thanks for the settings guys - will try them out now.

my own stuff brought me 1.2 secs faster at the finish:

25.180 - 45.364 - 1.02.090
21.817 - 41.027 - 0.57.570

but prob more to come ...
great combo colby! more of these to come please.

edit - tried out andrew settings but they are not to my taste, so i stick to mine. great fun trying them out tho.

Hello all,

Been awhile since I've been here -- got a new job that has me working 60 to 80 hours per week, so I've just not had the time for GT4. But this week I've (finally) got some time off, so I figured I'd stop in and see what's happening...

Definitely going to try this race -- already have the car, unmodified. So I'll go modify it (within the rules, of course) and see what I can get out of it.

See y'all later.

EDIT: Here are my first clean splits, using shockwaveracing's setup, slightly modified.

Lap 1:
T1: 25.526
T2: 44.592
T3: 1'01.894

Lap 2:
T1: 21.757
T2: 40.668
T3: 57.436

Oh, and I should still be in Div. 2, unless I've been demoted for not racing in the past few weeks.

It still says city courses Colby... :sly:

Will start getting this set up before I leave for work any minute here... :) NEEDS MORE GRIP :P

:D 👍

Re-modeling eh...That's not the reason you're about to break that poor little puppies neck is it?

I might have known you'd show up for a multi lapper. ;)

Darren.

With a diff. and suspension adjustment I managed this.
L1
T1:24.272
T2:43.495
T3:59.506
L2
T1:21.663
T2:40.276
T3:56.648
There may have been an off though, gonna check now...
Edit: nope, no off :)
Even if I did I was planning on getting a faster time anyway...

I'm having fun with this one. No aids. Set the LSD to 5 all the way around as suggested. Not sure what I like better.

Lap 1
T1 25.393
T2 44.349
T3 1'00.159

Lap2
T1 22.030
T2 40.244
T3 57.015
