The first post clearly states the race rules, Subaru Impreza WRX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. There may end up being a clear winner but that's usually the case, it's a chance for people to run something different if they feel like it (ie. me in the WRX wagon)

The power figures are correct, I thought about testing all the cars to get the power figures from the garage but then I came to my senses. So power figures in the replay window makes my life simple 👍

Board Updated

Traitor!
Looks like I'll be beating you this week, then. At least I'll try the hardest to do honor to the Evo... What Scooby are you driving then? (It feels weird, going from one nickname to the Subarus to the other) What will Taffie be using?

Yeah sorry about that Metar. If this was RL racing I'd take the Evo 9 times out of 10.

I'm gonna use the Wagon a la Colby. I need the extra room in the back for the dog. :D

Darren.

But you're the adult... You can just force him. Or, use both the same cars, share settings and techniques.

So if I'm going against you, I'll have to use the Evo VII GT-A, which was basically a luxury-version of the car, with some styling that only came in the VIII. I think there was a Wagon of that one too, but PD didn't include it... I've got an old GT-A full-tuned lurking around, it was my 2nd car. Relatively (to other Evos) Heavy, but powerfull and with AYC - what more can a starting noob want? But I'm sticking to the original choice - either VIII MR GSR, or VI RS T.M.E, because when I'm aiming for D2-worthy results, I can't loose any time because of personal preferences or nostalgia...

And Colby - according to your post, the 22B is not eligible? So it's based on actually having "WRX" in the name... Which means, only 2.0l cars are allowed this week (22B is 2.2l, but is not eligible). Round, sweet numbers, and all in favor of the Evo...

I think I'll give the Spec C a shot tomorrow, see how it works for me.

A few laps in the EVO IV running at 349 hp - 32.509 / 1'17.697 ( seen 32.2 / 1'17.5 ) this thing is so understeering and cant seem to counter it twiddling the settings :yuck: will try another few cars as the week goes on 👍

Well... :D
Thanks for weighing in on that one MisterWeary. I know how hard it can be to run this series so I sympathize but at the same time I would much rather see the Settings screen be our guide.

Also, I think the "WRX" part of the rules is sorta silly. Ruling out a car as cool as the "Subaru Impreza Premium Sport Coupe 22B-STi Version (GC) '98" is a shame (especially when it shows no advantage over the competition) (except its beautiful fender flares). :(
It is after all, an Impreza by name. 👍

Well, I'm off to do school work and maybe a little racing in my STi C, Evo MR, or Evo RS. Maybe a lap or two in an old schooler but I doubt it (I need all the power I can get if I am actually going to submit this week). 👍

Again, thanks for sounding off "MW."
Catch you all later, until then,
-

Btw, I was looking forward to seeing the 22b in photo comp this week as well. :ouch:
Edit: forgot to mention that it might be a good idea to copy the car list into the first post. 👍

Last thing: I love the course selection for this week, I feel like it fits the cars perfectly. 👍

I appreciate your input, but I'm gonna stick with the rules I've specified. Replay checking will be easier and there's no gray area. Gray areas bring about problems in my experience 👍

One single lap with the spec C put me on 1'17.4.

As for grey areas, I hear you and understand totally.
Of course, I don't exactly see gray area in using a HP rating system that doesn't rate the various cars differently.
To me, gray area is exactly what we are doing now because new cars and used cars show significant differences in their settings-to-replay hp figures.

;)
Just giving you a hard time... I understand the advantage to replay HP.

Plus, we can disagree right? 👍
Not a big deal, we just look at the situation differently. :D
Most importantly to me, the issue's been settled and I'm content with just racing. :D

Guys, I will put my settings on soon for both the Spec C and the Evo 8. It's a bank holiday here or something, and atm I've had a bit too much  to be useful to post something. Spec C and EVO 8 MR are the best cars of both manufacturers I believe. Be back soon, need sleep first.....

well a baseline session in the Prodrive had me seeing these as me only clean splits
T1 33.231
T2 1'19.495

I was showing 348 hp on the replay screen...
I really need to set this car up a lil better... :)

doubt it i'll compete this week, not a fan of gtmode at the best of times, cyas all next week or in the next arcade mode race;)

To Colby: This is a blast!!! :dopey: I'm going to play around with some cars and have some fun with this one, so see ya! :D --- Randy:tup: 👍

Ran about 50 miles dialing-in the suspension... Getting close to just the right feel.
Brought the Spec-C down to 1'16.9??
Saw many 32.1 at T1 and even a handful of 32.0

With some work I may be able to bring that T2 down to about 1'16.5, atleast, that's my goal. :D

I suppose I will post my settings but they are built on the "Original" suspension (this week I'm actually running a "Trial Impreza" from tuner village :sly: ).
9.3/8.7 springs
85/93 Ride height
7/8 Shock Absorbers
2.5/3.0 Camber
0/0 toe
5/6 Stabilizers
3/3 brake balance
LSD is set to all 5 except on the rear wheels where it is set to 10/40/5 (default settings and 5 on "decel").
VCD is at 10
Driving aids are all at 0
Transmission is set a little wide and runs to the top of 5th on the opening straight.

That's about all of it. :D

This week looks ok(had hope that it would be the GSX-R/4:(), I think I will use
the Subaru Spec-C as it's in my race series so I know the car well.

ok my first splits witha Mitzi T.M.E GSR '00

T1: 32.286 (31.8##)
T2: 1'17.165 (1'16.883)

Come here kitty...

BTW, my setting for all evos (II, VI and VIII) are pretty similar: Very hard rear (12 or more), soft front (9 or less). 1-2 dampers front, 6-7 rear. 2-3 stabilizers front, 6-7 rear. Also, lots of camber on both sides (2.2/2.6), and a low LSD setting.

This is strange. The Spec-C feels faster because of some lift off oversteer but the Evo VI RS TME is the first car that got me into 1'17s

Splits

0'32.344
1'17.625

springs 8/8
shocks 8/8
stabilizers 5/5
gearing Auto 7
stock LSD
stock VCD

There is a lot more tuning to be done

Edit - softened the front, dropped the front, tweaked gears = low 1'17s

Gearing - I tried to bring 2nd 3rd and 4th as close to each other and downshift to 2nd but went back to old setup (Auto 7 with minor tweaks) and stay in 3rd for the slowest corners

ok i'm in the car selection and tuning hassle now (tho it'll be evo only for me) and try to find the consensus in this thread on car pick and setup, but also try to get the car to fit my abhorrent (?) city driving style.

thanks to all for openly writing about setting and car picking.

sofar i got to 1.22.xxx in my beloved tme but car and setup could be better.

if that suzuki is coming to the wrs arena it'll be great fun, no matter what track it'll be unleashed at ... hope it'll be gt mode again tho.

EDIT
decided to concentrate on the evo 8 mr gsr as that seems to be top gun this week (371/349hp).
fiddling between ayc and lsd quickly produced a big favor towards lsd, all set at minimum.
still dont know what to do with the auto settings it being such a torque cannon.
current splits at 33.811 and 1.21.206 but sub 1.20's should be no problem after some lapping and further tweaking. this is gonna be an interesting div3 week!

Man I am frustrated with the reputation system. :irked:
Someone please give Gingiba rep for me. I've done it recently and can't do it again but if there is a such thing as a quality post, it has to be a real world google map being highlighted to show the seattle race track from GT.
agreed and done so go ahead. metar could become the next steward?

had a 31.4xx/1'15.4xx lap and bombed it on the last corner :yuck:

best clean splits so far with the EVO VIII RS

31.813
1'15.769

did the splits after a handful of laps and could never do a clean lap to beat it afterwards... hoping to pull another 0.5 out of my overall lap to hit my target, should be able to do it if i can get the start-t1 split down to a 31.4xx again

and my settings

spring: 7.6/7.1
height:99/120
bound: 2/9
rebound: 2/9
camber: 2.2/1.9
toe: 0/2
stabilisers: 1/2

brakes - 3/3
no lsd
auto - 8
vcd - 10
aids - 0/0/0
tyres - SS/SM (trying to get around the understeer)

Camber: 2.2/1.5

Amazing splits!

The springs could be a problem - Evos need an extremely hard rear. The front it good like that, but the rear could use 2-3 more figures.
And to get rid of mid-corner understeer, add rear camber - the more, the merrier.

Did anyone, except for me, try to lower the rear more? It helped in the Monaro in the Week 15 Tuning Comp, and the TVR Tamora in Week 77 (WRS)...

agreed and done so go ahead. metar could become the next steward?

Let's not drift to places where we shouldn't be. Colby still has 45 weeks to decide who's the next steward - and I only joined 20 weeks ago (Gosh, that much?!)

andy please elaborate on your settings:
brakes standard - is that 3/3 or no race brakes?
lsd standard - is that no lsd or full with default settings?
shocks 2/9 2/9 - is that front 2 and rear 9 or bound 2 and rebound 9?
thanks mate.

brakes are 3/3
no lsd
bound = 2 (on the front and rear)
rebound = 9 (on the front and rear)

note also edited my post above with the easier to understand settings...

So Colby, it means that 22B is not legal, right? And it doesn't matter how much HP is in your car, but there should be <= 350 HP only in replay mode?

modified the rear camber a touch more, set it to 1.9, and it turns in a little keener now, had a half a dozen more laps in it and got my best splits yet (dropped a couple of tenths in the final sector but still my best lap so far)

31.460
1'15.381

I love this Japanese rockets and Seeattle Circuit! Great combo!!!👍
My first time is:
T1:
0.31.970
T2:
1.16.248

I don't quite see how you can have a subie vs lancer week without the 22B but I'll try to come up with something :(

Been experimenting with the Evo 8 MR today. I had a balanced setup first, but some lift off oversteer proved to be faster.

My settings:

Brakes: 10/8
Spring rate: 7.8/7.0
Ride height: 130/130
Damper b: 1/1
Damper rb: 8/8
Camber: 1.8/2.6
Stabiliser: 1/1
LSD: 5/20/5
AYC: 90
VCD: 35
no aids

Splits:

T1: 31.220
T2: 1'14.774
