GT4 WRS Week 85: "Evo/WRX showdown"

I'd say it's a bit early to even talk about the next steward... MisterWeary doesn't have 45 weeks left to decide, he has a lifetime! The WRS Steward position has no limits. 52 weeks is just the default change-over because we've all wanted to contribute as much as we could (going for more than 52 is just fine... I did it!). So anyway, let's try to stick to the racing.

Great looking times are starting to show up out of division 1. 👍
Glad to see the WRS is as fast as it should be.
As for me, I'll be working towards 1'16.5 today when I have the time but for now I've got other stuff to do.

Back later today, until then,

Glad to see the WRS is as fast as it should be.

Sorry Kent. :embarrassed:

Dragging the team down with these. :D

T1 0'33.638 (Been .2 faster though)
T2 1'19.563

Still plenty of time out there for me, even in the wagon I'm currently using. Still fiddling around with set ups at the moment, I need to dial in the final adjustments to the suspension. I've decided to stick with the standard diffs for now as this is usually my downfall in GT mode, I'm not getting any excessive wheelspin even with all aids off so I'll leave it as is.

Back to it.

Darren.

Just wanted to mention that I'm running 32.1 at T1 on my save and I'm using a DS2 to play the game.

On that note... MisterWeary,
That's a ton of work you do with the board and managing the series.
Good job. 👍

Any way, I'm headed off to do school work and maybe run a few laps. Until I've got news...
-

to kent: i only discovered a new star rising, off course colby can absolutely stay as long as he wants.

to metar: thanks for sharing your settings with us.

to andy: same to you mate.

to hugo: your tune is in my car in no time for a test drive. dank je wel!

to colby:  to you as well.

Went back and saw 317 -> 1'16.3... Lost about .2 on the ghost after T1 and gained it back somewhere before T2.
Looks like i might be able to capatalize and get a nice lap in the Mid-1'16 range although I'm not too quick to say I'll be under 16.5 for sure.

In any case, off to do more school work now. Back again later... (btw, wrote a two page essay on "Tonight I Can Write..." by Pablo Neruda since my last post in here). :yuck: ;)

Well I give it a try today, don't remember my T time's but I'm doing well so far.
And now I have some time's to go for, so watch out div 2:mischievous:.

A few laps in the EVO VIII as the EVO IV just cant cut the mustard here going by the splits posted :dopey: anyway its much smoother in the turns but about even on speed, so far I'm at 31.604 / 1'15.740 seen 31.5 and 1'15.5 so a bit left to get ... will be back on this in a few days 👍

Just thought I'd mention that I upgraded the STi-C to a full custom racing suspension.
Knocked the times down a good bit. Nothing clean worthy of mention but I've seen new lows... 31.7 and 1'16.1

Should be able to get a solid lap below 1'16.5 at this rate.
Hope to come back with good news later tonight.
Until then,
-
(btw, no progress on the school work since my last post :ouch: )

Been experimenting with the Evo 8 MR today. I had a balanced setup first, but some lift off oversteer proved to be faster.

My settings:

Brakes: 10/8
Spring rate: 7.8/7.0
Ride height: 130/130
Damper b: 1/1
Damper rb: 8/8
Camber: 1.8/2.6
Stabiliser: 1/1
LSD: 5/20/5
AYC: 90
VCD: 35
no aids

Splits:

T1: 31.220
T2: 1'14.774
Freak! :scared: ahem, 'scuse me, I mean ALIEN! Haha, awesome splits Hugo!

I think I'm going to race the Spec C this week, as it appears most people are going for the Mitsus... If I hate it too much I'll change my mind, but we'll see. I'll get going soon here! :)

Running the standard LSD and no ayc with 30% front wheel distribution if it helps anyone. Ticked the gears a little shorter. I put the rear sway to 7. And thats about it I think. Tweaking it too much makes me start to wonder if I'm hurting it or helping it.

Thanks for the info errk.
I finally broke into 1'16s but messed up the final sector. I'm really happy with my gearing now - Auto 13 with 4.500 final (I don't use 6th gear)

0'32.203
1'16.614

lot more time to be gained

MisterWeary
Don't worry, I've been looking at it, it'll come one of these days :sly:

I know:), and when you do use it I will make sure I try as hard as I can:tup:.
Anyways I tried this again tonite and got a new time's as well:).

T1-31:964(have seen .8xx)
T2-1:16:274

I can see more in the lap so I will try again tomorrow.

So Full Custom Suspension is better than an Original? I always liked to tune the individual dampers...

used andy's settings to the evo 8 rs and improved to

33.478 - 1.20.373

but feel a second is to be gained at every (sharp) corner. still got hugo's setup to try.

today i also might try the spec-c subby on kent's digits. almost seems like i'm having fun at a city track :dunce:

31.623
1'15.532

Uhm... If I can't put down the controller and I want to just keep tinkering with settings and going faster and faster is there something wrong? :sly: LOVING THIS!!!

Initially threw up some settings, bumped the camber all the way down to 0 front and back so I could tinker with that later. Got to somewhere near where I like with some sort of match to my reckless driving, and then added 2 degrees of camber to the front. Then whipped out this fastest time. That was 3 tenths off my previous best without any camber, and I haven't added any camber to the back yet. That'll be all for tonight, but there's sooo much more to come... Maybe mostly in the hands of someone more smooth though. Who knows, but I don't really think that a 1'14 is out of sight? MAYBE!? Don't know for sure.

Maybe I'll make this the week I jump to D1.

Oh, and before everyone starts thinking about what they have at T2 will determine where they finish when the results get posted, I bet there will definitely be a few suprises. There is a LOT of time to be gained and lost in the last sector. It's on the edge of driver skill with this level of grip at these speeds with these cars. Kickass!!!!

So Full Custom Suspension is better than an Original? I always liked to tune the individual dampers...
Better is almost always a relative term. The Original allows lower suspension settings and less confusion with damper settings. That may or may not be a benefit on some tracks. On this track, I don't think the Original suspension is worth using. You don't NEED to go that low, and individual damping adjustments I think might be useful to tinker with. Although, the Original's damping between rebound and compression might be nice anyway.

Who knows!

All I know is I hope there are at least two promotions by the end of this week! I'm looking at you buddy! ;) ;) 👍 Let's do it!

'cos some of you insist on using the wrx i gave it a go this morning, and used crxnut's settings for the C car.
well, it's not for me this car. there is no slow corner steering at all and there is no way (to me anyway) to get rid of this weird understeer.
so back to the evo 8 rs for me. metar is wild about hugo's settings so i'll try those tonight after work.

Not wild, I just like them. Though, I took 75 on the AYC, and opened the front LSD a bit - it was a little understeering under power.

I'm trying my best, so lets hope. With your current splits, looks like you're already on your way...

Floating around the low 1'19s-high 1'18s right now, still lots to come.

EDIT: Did I say something?
0'33.042 :( (Seen 0'32.4s)
1'18.447
And a reasonable finish.

Oh no, you got it wrong. Those were just baseline settings for Evo VI RS TME. The Impreza has nice initial turn-in but that's about it.

P.S. - Kyle, you are insane !!! :-)

Haha, thanks man! I'll post my settings later tonight after I do some more racing and tune them in some more... I kind of don't want to post everything, buuuuuuuut, I think I will. Tis the spirit!

Ok, bigracer, I wouldn't use those settings I posted unless you are using the Original suspension.
If that's the case, switch to the Full Custom! :sly:

Being able to lower the bound more than the rebound actually does help on this track. Plus, like someone else said, we don't really need ride heights going that low.
So I suggest the Full Custom Suspension for anyone considering the original. If nothing else, just keep your FC suspension simple (without seriously changing the bound-rebound settings).

The best thing anyone could do here is probably take the settings of a fast racer and use those. :D
With that said, if anyone is still interested, I will post my setting for the full custom later today.

Finally, I've just got to mention to KLR142 that the D1 move shouldn't be too hard for you. 👍
In fact, I would think anyone running 1'15's this week should be in D1 since the "aliens" are just breaking into the 1'14's. If you are looking for D1 you might be well off writing MisterWeary a PM. Ever since the beginning of the WRS one part of running D1 was just being willing to step up a division making it impossible to win your old division (and probably impossible to win the new one as well :ouch: ).
Usually promotions are forced because someone is constantly winning the lower division and has shown they need to be in a higher division.

Like I said though, not that I have anything to do with it, but if you're looking to run D1 and you're producing 1'15's this week- I say go for it!

Hi all, finally got around to running some laps in a wrs, my first.

32.484
1.17.835

Quite a bit left out there for me :dopey: , well see as time permits, going out of town this weekend so I'll have to post my final tomorrow night.

 Colby, I like this combo.

I decided to run with the Spec C but I can't get the damn thing to steer especially under throttle. What am I doing wrong?

You're probably using your own settings. :ouch:
No, actually I don't know what you're doing.

My suggestion to you would be to start with a setup from another driver here (who is using the Sp.C). Then evaluate the situation and come back with more input so other people can help.

If nothing else, make sure you are driving the right line.
And most importantly, make sure you are being honest with yourself about your driving technique. AWD can be trouble for a lot of drivers, understeer affects all of us. It is how you deal with that understeer that gives you fast laps.

Or to put it another way... Understeer is what happens when you try to drive the car your way and not the way the car wants to be driven. :mischievous:

Adjust your driving to fit the car and then explore the limits.

I might actually have to submit a replay for this week, but I don't have the thing to do it. Can anybody give me a link to a place online in the USA that sells what I need?

I'm just frustrated thats all. I've figured out how to drive the thing but you're right, I am using my own settings. And thats whats holding me back. I know I could be about 2 seconds faster with a proper set-up and some practice with it. We all know its those large chunks of time that are easiest to shave off, but I can't even seem to do that.

I've gone through the thread I guess I'll PM someone thats running the Spec C.

Thanks

errk,
Best buy has plenty of what you need. 👍

Tpap,
I've seen setups for the Sp.C in this thread (I think) but if there aren't any, I will post my setup later (my current setup and not the old one).
Let me know if you are interested.

Until next time,
-
