Oh jeez. :) We'll see how this goes. 👍

Haha, first post... That's a first for me, and I wasn't even trying... :D

Woo hoo this thing is like a rocket after running the Audi last week :dopey:
Man this little machine is sweet but it will bite you too, here is just a few little things iv changed in the setup

Springs to 9.0/9.0
brakes to 5/1
lsd left alone as turning it down just made it wheel spin and turning it up just made it hard to turn on the power, ie 5 power lsd is very bad
Gearing to auto 9
no aids

Splits so far

T1: 18.112
T2: 54.418

Leader Board Initiated

Umm... :embarrassed:

Which manufacturer is Shelby? I can't seem to find it. American, but where? I know where the AC Cobra is, but I can't find the Shelby carlot :embarrassed:

Sound great, though!

EDIT: Say, why is the weigth-reduction optional? A whole 100KG lighter should be benificial, shouldn't it?

better get to use that ubersave metar! shelby is one of the us car manufacturers and it's got 3 cars for sale. don't mix it up with the uk version of the car (a/c).

to me that's a hint that jerry found out during testing that having some extra weight might be beneficial to its driving behaviour ... jerry, any comments on that? :)

gave it a first go this morning. a frightening combo with those r4's! as neither components of this combo have been my favorite before, i will this week try full weight/min power/slow laps first and then loose weight and gain power little by little and stay on the black stuff all the time (alltho the first two chicanes will remain a pain in the butt i guess).

It's just an extra option for those who wish to drive this car in a more enjoyable fashion. Weight reduction, mainly in Arcade Mode changes the control of the car to such a degree that many cars aren't that much fun to drive for some, or those with lesser driving skills find hard to control for an enjoyable drive. In short, it's aimed at having more fun with the car instead of being bogged down with a restricted setup.

fantastic car to drive, but could definitely have done with less grippy tyres... they aren't progressive enough when the rear starts sliding, very hard to modulate... but still puts a big smile on ya face when ya get it right... :)

17.8
53.9

few more tenths out there yet, but i am struggling for consistency, the fun way around the track is also the sloer way, unfortunately... :sly:

just basic tweaking so far

dropped the ride height to f - 98, r - 101
auto @ 11
rear stabiliser @ 6 (left the front on the original setting)
and toe on the rear @ -1

Well, there's nothing stopping you. The tires are R4 or harder, so that leaves a VERY wide field open for you. Either way, I'm going to have to get this car again just for the competition. I've done the non-removable upgrades on mine :yuck:

Oh My God yes. :D:D:D:D:D Brilliant!

Cheers,
Jetboy

Edit: Question, what if I want to leave the stock 4 speed in? Can I??

Sure you can - the rules always allow the car to be tuned to a lesser degree... You can run stock power, too, from what I understood.

Steven, I've got the Ubersave now - and it DREs much less, which is odd. Anyways, I've got the Cobra from there, but it's got the unremoveable mods. I know Shelby's american, but I managed to find the manufacturer after a couple of minute's worth of search, since I seemed to miss the Icon.

Without testing, I can say this is gonna be a blast! I know the AC intimately (Supercar Festival and Laguna Seca 200 Miles were run with it), and they're very similar... Though, as others said, R4s might be a little over the edge in terms of progressivness of grip-loss.

Note to all racers, Can you post the whole splits as if you don't I have to post it as .099 at the end of each split.

Thank you for reading this.

Great combo,Jerry.👍

Good choice on the tires.👍 For lesser gods(like me :dopey: ) it is just fine to have some grip.

I'm really sinking my teeth into this one. I won't match the D1 guys, but I am feeling very good about my initial (make that 2nd) run:

T1 - 18.916
T2 - 55.500

My settings so far:
- Top of the line non-power parts and no driving aids (they're eeeeevil)
- Stage 3 weight reduction (after all, lighter is better :sly:)
- Increased rigidity (I usually avoid this like the plague, but since we're talking about a mid-60's chassis that flexes like aluminum foil, absolutely necessary)
- Brake controller set at 4/4 (don't need much of a bump-up, especially with the racing brakes)
- Springs 6.3/6.1
- Ride height 88/92
- Shock bound 3/4
- Shock rebound 5/6
- Camber 2.5/1.5
- Toe -1 (0 offers better turn-in, but -1 helps in the longer sweepers)/-1
- Stabilizers 3/3
- LSD 10/22/10
- Transmission 3.202/2.098/1.494/1.127/0.934/3.540 final (basically Autoset 11 with a shorter 5th gear)

Urgh. Fun week, but tough. R4s make it a bit too interesting... R2s and harder would've made it much more controllable (not to mention the dear N-tyres), because this beast oversteers wildly when you loose the rear (almost impossible to catch at the right time - when it looses grip, it's too late) - yet understeers so much under braking, that I wonder what use this thing actually uses for brakes. Something like an anchor on a smooth surface - just barely slows you down, but not enough and not in the right direction. This car just won't trail-brake, so I guess I'll have to change my complete way around the first bend and some other corners. I used to take the first one on full throttle, smoothly moving to the left and braking on the up/left - but this car won't do it.
Can't get the settings right, either. Normally I'm a soft-springs guy, but this car still handles bad with 13/13, which is harder than what I used on the full-tune VolvoWagon... I just can't tune this beast.

*waits patiently for a good setup, and prays for a week on N-tyres*

I LOVE this WRS stuff. Nobody around where i live races.

T1: 19.609
T2: 57.805

Im losing all my time in that first corner. Can't figure it out with this car. More laps will definately help.:sly:

after some tries i came to 19.813 and 57.915

and had another lap with slowers t's but 2 secs faster finish due to a great last righthander. lots of time to be found everywhere!
because we got the dog in the house now, the ps2 time is very limited (sleeping in the living room etc.).

still have to fiddle a lot with the settings, but started (as always) with the most-voted gtvault setup. michael's 5/1 brake balance sucks to me but his auto 9 works great.

Oh God I have to do this.

I want every single one of you to PM me if I slack off and kick my ass if I don't do this one as best as I can.

T1: 18.363
T2: 55.095

First round I've taken part in a long time, and I'm playing on a broken controller, too. I like the set-up, though. The car slides a bit but rides on rails through most of the tough parts.

Loving it currently with the stock tranny, but seeing as already some of you are 2 seconds ahead, it may be necessary for me to upgrade. :indiff:
