6 is 6. It's akin to cars, there's the current shape which runs for a period and gets refined in each iteration, Then it gets an overhaul and a new shape comes through which stays for a couple of years or so and then that gets refined. Similar with GT 5 to 6 same body just lots of refinement and some stuff stays the same similar to cars - and at the end of the aint what it's all about the cars!?

It's called GT6 so I'll call it GT6. I'm not gonna go to GameStop and say "Hey, do you guys have GT5.5?" They'll just look at me like I'm a retard.
Polyphony has already told you what it is. GT6!!!
You guys were clearly not picking up what I was putting down, or you have sour sarcasm. Cannot tell which! I hope it is sarcasm, if it is not, I will explain the point into further detail.

One of those questions that cannot be answered until one actually has a copy of the next GT in there hand. Now if your are asking everyone here to make a guess as to what we think that actually is going to be, or if we were expecting more information than Polyphony Digital has chosen to release, then of course we wont more.

There are many new things that PD have teased us with that are incredible. The new partners that they are working with should make the driving simulation experience all that more interesting.

Things aren't all roses. We all know about the unaddressed sounds and the few things that are not going to be in play day one. Frankly, with a game the size of GT, I wont really miss course maker so much in the beginning as I'll be busy working out the many challenges at hand.

So your question again is what should we call this game? I cannot give a rating personally because I haven't played it. Sony and PD have chosen to give it the title Gran Turismo 6 therefore I think I'll stick with that. Until I find a reason to change my opinion.

I understand where you are coming from. I guess it was a little early to ask this, but at the same time many people say GT5 is still not complete. I will let them voters get started early :)

Personally I feel that this is what GT5 should've been all along, but I still think it should be a GT6. I mean look at the differences between GT3 and 4, they weren't huge like GT4 to 5

I read all the answers and you are all WRONG ! Even Amar for once.

The answer is: from Kaz's mind GT6 was supposed to be GT100.3 !

But due to time constraints, we are only getting GT6 !

am i the only one who thinks PD expected us to thing prologue was part of five... i mean none of the events transferred over...

Gt6 does feel a LOT like a dlc for gt5 with a patch that tweaks the physics and graphics and adds some cars and tracks and changes the menus. Where is the big change, the innovations and new things that are supposed to happen which make the difference between a patch and new full version? Where are the improvements that make the gt series go forward?

There seems to be less changes between gt5 and gt6 than there are between EA's yearly fifa and nhl games. The obvious comparison is to the step between forza 3 and 4. That's the kind of step there should be between gt5 and 6. T10 really went out of teir way to innovate with f4. The new world tour mode was a huge step forwards to the usual a-spec mode of the forzas which in gt series has remained totally the same from the first gt game.

I like to think a good game needs a vision. It wants to create something, be something. Is the gt vision just to be the original gt1 with just better graphics, better physics and more skylines that sound like vacuum cleaners?
Forzas game play apart from that one mode though is basically unchanged as a game.

Not to sound bias but the difference from FM2 to FM4 is really just an interior, newer cars/tracks and some tour story mode, physics wise its completely the same. GT has done a bit of that although the DLC is very tiny compared to Forzas but the physics change just from spec 2.0 is more then what Forza has done pretty much since day 1 on the physics side.

I do feel yont on the Vision being a real downside on PDs part, The next installments come across like a Volkswagen facelift(with very little change, but the real change is underneath) and with very poor marketing compared to Forza, despite still having the larger market share of this genre and more money to play with.

Tbh, i was sceptical at first, a long time ago. But we are getting a bunch of new tracks, and cars. A new menu, new physics and maybe new sounds.
So definetely with a new title.

I all fairness i don't really understand the discussion. I mean, did the people here ever look at other games? Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy. I mean, come on, we number those too despite being all pretty much the same right?

A lot of improvements are in this new game, cars, circuits, engine sounds, aerodynamic engine, physics engine, environments changes.. that's enough to call it "sucesor".

So it is not GT5.5, is just GT6.

Maybe we should just stick to a sports game formula and call it GT 2014.

What i dont understand is why we didnt get an GT6 prologue??? Ok, i guess the GT academy thing was kind of a demo, but c'mon like 3 or 4 cars, a few events, and thats it?

However, having said that, this point is the main reason i believe the opening video for gt6 will be a huge kaz face saying SURPRISE!!!!!!! and then the game physics the sound, the everything will just be... better.

@ironman44321 I agree with you. If people have a problem with something not in there, then deal with it. Improved graphics and physics make for a new game. I may ask, when has a game featured better graphics in an update? (Other than Collecters edition.) Examples: Doom and Sonic.
In my opinion GT5 has a excellent level of detail in most of the circuits, and in a few ones that are real, like Nurburgring or Suzuka, the sensation of reality is higher than in other games, even Forza or Project CARS. It's ok that a lot of people think that this is just a GT5.5 just because it hasn't a graphic improvement, but if we look closely to previous games, there's no big changes between a game and other, because we are talking about consoles, not a PC where you have almost infinite power. PS3 is a 2007 console, that's a fact what most people forget.

In which game we can see something like this?

You can't just patch in new rendering and physics models. GT6 is definitely the result of PD's odd/even quality pattern and tradition. The odds are always scarce compared to the evens, and this process will repeat with GT7 and GT8 on PS4.

Like a software, numbering doesn't matter, it's still that same old software, added with more features, bugs, and bugfixes.

In this case, GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4, GT5, GT6, or GT5.5 it's all still that one same game, Gran Turismo.

So it doesn't matter really.

They're releasing a new game, (or a new version in a software world), but it is still the same one.

Unless, if they're releasing a brand new title for example: Kaz Racing, and the content is similar to Gran Turismo 5, then you could start criticizing them that they should name it as Gran Turismo 5.5 instead of Kaz Racing.

Now, do you know that my Google Chrome browser version is:

Version 30.0.1599.101 m

basically this thread is like saying "Hey, Google chrome should be Version 28.0.1600.108 instead! because it's still this old browser, nothing new blah2..

I personally think everything included so far could've been in an update in gt1.Just sayin.I mean all these cars they just added thats pre- 1998, should have been in gt1 also.

...Yeah... Uhh... No. Don't try to convince me GT3 would even be POSSIBLE on the PS1. It simply isn't, not with that hardware.

And to all of these people calling the physics "simply 'tweaked'"...

The adaptive tessellation, lighting, suspension, tire, and aero model isn't something that can just be "updated" into the game - each aspect of each part plays into the other, so that would mean ALL of it would have to be added at once. I don't even want to know how big of an update that would be - considering it's been 3 years of hard work. Physics and minor engine adjustments can be done via update, but these are NOT minor changes, and they massively affect the core of the game.

Even PC games, for an example - physics/engines or demos/betas may be updated slowly over time, but even then, the core is still there, and major changes don't happen until a full game is launched.

There is enough improvements. Which just to try the new physics in every car I did on GT5, I will need a few months...
The point for me will be on the career mode. I wish is like GT2/GT3.

GT6, but they could call it "Gran Turismo Most Wanted Underground Super Highway Motorsports Battle Hyper Driving Simulator II Turbo" for all I care. Shut up and take my money!
