GT5 $80 million budget?

And since I quite clearly gave TWO DIFFERENT VALUES for retail price and putative profit, it should be relatively apparent that I don't think that.

This aside, I "ducked out" of nothing. Sorry I don't post every seven seconds, but I've been a little busy the last two days.

The point, however, still stands. In order to not make back the $80m even if you assume it's entirely gone on GT5 (which is not a safe assumption, given that GT5P and GTPSP have both been produced in the GT5 development period, along with no ordinal number given in the source article), GT5 needs to sell fewer than one-third the copies of any other full GT game ever sold, and over a million fewer copies than any other GT worldwide release on a home console.
