Like I said before, this is the kind of thing that ensues when GT5 is delayed.

I see, I guess we will have to keep that in mind incase GT5 actually is delayed (which it hasn't been yet).

blah blah blah blah

If it bothers you so much why don't you just go away?

As i said, I come here for the news and occasionally because someone might be saying something i'm interested in.

You have to bear in mind that (and with all due respect to them) a lot of the people on this forum are just kids, and for that reason you have to change the way you communicate and accept that a lot of them can get lippy cos they're sitting behind their PC. A lot lack the basics of holding an intelligent debate and probably wouldn't portray themselves that way if they were stood in front of you in person. It's usually these kids that ruin threads.

On the other-hand, there are a number of older members who enjoy talking about cars and GT, and know how to hold a debate.

But, ultimately you have to lower your expectations when talking on a computer game forum compared to say a car owners club for example.

No. Failure to understand how to debate while avoiding looking like an ass is not an excuse for looking like an ass. If a sensible question is asked and the answer is 50 monkeys squealing and throwing muck at each other, how has the original questioner or the community at large been helped by that? Other than to identify 50 monkeys that look like asses?

Seriously, who made you correct? If the discussion isn't up to your calibre of conversation, then maybe your in the wrong community.
This forum is excellent, is run by a very sensible bunch of people, and still manages to cater for any age group.
Of course, there are some who ignore rules, some who start threads to argue, and a few that are too immature to give respect to some of the forums most popular people.

Nothing made me correct, i didn't put forward any conjecture that required proving or disproving, I commented on the standard of debate in the forum, and stand by every point. I don't doubt it's an excellent forum, otherwise i wouldn;t be looking for information here first. I don't doubt the sense of the people running it. I'm sure it does cater for every age group. In fact i agree with everything you said, unfortunatly, none of what you said has any relevance to my original post.

As a few of our community have stated: Welcome to the internet.

Hi. I've been here for a while. Most places I go aren't ****-waving contests.

sorry... i really don't understand where are you going with this, but I agree that GT is not neither arcade or simulation, imo GT is the "best" simulator for console, because combine something hardcore, without exagerating.
Console gaming is for everyone, i agree that games like iracing or similars are better, but the require to be played with a wheel, no point playing them otherwise, while on ps3 the majority of players will play gt5 with a dulashock. Some balance is needed

I never said anything was better than anything else. I don't have a comparison point. Never even heard of iracing. I said GT was not an arcade game, and sure as hens lays eggs it isn't a simulator, it's a console racing game.

Isnt the OP complaining about exactly what he did in the OP?

Which bit? None of the rest of the post you were quoting helps in understanding it either, so i'm a bit lost here.

No offense.... wait scratch that, offense. Why would I listen to your video game point from someone who hast bought a video game besides golf in 6 year? :dunce:

I wouldn't expect you too, my point is about the words people use and the way they use them about particular *games*. Oh, and GT4 came out 4 and a bit years ago.

So... is this your first time on the Internet?

Nope. Just the first time i've found a topic i'm interested in where they tolerate the monkeys.

this thread title is perfect for me to ask this question :

describe what GTP will be like the day GT5 release :D i mean the day before TGS was amazing so you can only imagine

Tumbleweeds and screenshots, a few dying trolls squeezing in a last cry, maybe some bans, rioting?

Who knows, its GT5, officially more sparse than the FIFA World Cup.

Ok, so i have to break it down for you, thats ok.

Hi,
I came to GTP to find out some new info on GT5, maybe find some like minded people who were looking forward to playing the future of car racing games... However, mostly what I find is a ****-waving competition.

You will find new info on GT5, thats pretty much certain.
We obviously not 'like-minded' to you, because even though we all love car racing games, we can discuss it in a manner thats worked on these forums for years. I would argue that all debates are '****-waving competitions', it is down to the community and mods to filter out the '****'. Most of what i read are opinions, and clearly stated as opinion, if you believe these opinions are '****' then maybe your not like minded and this really isn't the community for you.

Everyone has their opinion on what Gran Turismo *is*, and what they want GT5 to be, and won't hear anyone say anything different. Some times they won't hear anything different by not reading the thread and then posting something useless like 'Nonononoooooo!', sometimes they clearly don't even read the first *post* before replying.

Everyone has their opinion on what GTPlanet forum *is*, and what they want this forum to be. Sometimes 'Nooooooo!' is a perfectly good answer to a question. Often the first post quickly becomes irrelevant in conversation, especially when someone like Deveander takes the time to push the OP into some kind of clarity in what they are trying to say.

Some people only read the last post and then attempt to discredit it without a hint of critical thinking. There is one thread (now closed) where the OP tried to talk about something in a particular situation, and not one reply listened to what had been said in the first post, critically eveluated it and posted a balanced reply. One reply was huge, regurgitated a whole lot of stuff that had been said before (all true, it has to be said), but which unfortunalty had no relevance to the situation in the OP. Most of the rest were 'nooooooo!' or arguing sementics, or trying to use PD's name to back up their views.

First, in this particular thread, it was badly titled (as agreed later by the OP), it wasn't specific without further explanation of his intentions and it came immediately after the closure of another thread on a similar topic. Conversation does continue from one thread to another, thats normal.
Once again, 'Nooooo', in some cases, is a perfectly good answer, especially since most of the community generally feel the same.

BULL **** the lot of it. If you can't debate or get your point across without resorting to personal insults, or building straw men, or indulging in reductio ad absurdium, putting your fingers in your ears and going 'lalalallala', or even something as simple as realizing that a single counter example disproves a theory, but hundereds of positive results only show that the testing hasn't been exhaustive enough to find a counter example, then DON'T POST, take a critical thinking and logic class instead and find out why your post makes you look like an ass.

We all follow the AUP. Im sure something on it about your language too. Who are you to tell the community 'DON'T POST'. Heres another great thing about the internet, majority of people in here dont really mind if they make an 'ass' of themselves. Not everyone has to take themselves so seriously.

I have thousands of hours on 'arcade' games, and more than a hundred hours on commercial simulators. Gran turismo is neither. Most of the arguements on this forum come from people arguing arcade vs. simulation. It is a console racing game. Get over it. Until they simulate body roll and g-forces and when you hit a bump or clip a curb the steering wheel is ripped from your hands and you get thrown forward against your belt, it isn't a simulator, because they really do have that in commercial simulators. Heavy landing in a light aircraft simulator? You know about it from the bruises. Drop a wing on a big commercial jet and stall it? You know about it because the drop leaves your stomach behind.

That's great, you have lots of sim hours. How you define a simulator is up to you. I believe GT5 is a simulator, it is not a training or commercial simulator, but it is a simulator. Its simulates, to the best of its ability using consumer hardware, a certain level of reality. It is also an arcade game in some ways, especially since it comes with an arcade mode.

It's a game. What's more, it's PDs game and they'll build it how the want it. There's 25 million PS3s, one person saying 'noooooooo!' won't change a thing.

Yes, we can all agree that is can be defined as game. It is PDs game and you coming on a forum to moan and swear, in front of a young audience, won't change a thing. One person saying 'nooooo' may do nothing, over 90% of the dedicated fans on this site saying 'nooooo' together may get noticed. You would have to be a complete 'ass' to think that nobody from PD ever pays any attention to what fans have to say.
