Nurbirgring is so overrated in my book. If it was wider it would be adequate. No news regarding this but

"Nurb-i-rgring"...i see where the problem is...you can´t even write it right. Nurburgring Nordschleife is one of the best tracks in the world, if not the best and most complete of all.
Please don´t be a fan-boy, i like Bathurst as much as you but you can´t compare both and less say that it is "overrated".

The ring is THE RING! Or "Green hell" :sly:

If you really want to spell it correctly it's Nürburgring. Can't add the ü then ue is acceptable, Nuerburgring. Just because he spelled it incorrectly doesn't make his opinion less valid.

Just wanted to put my 2c in by saying that I cannot wait for this track!!! :)

The only circuits left in the world (yes, the world!) that can top Mt Panorama are the Nordschleife and the Isle Of Mann, and I think it would have a lot more fans out there if not for the fact that it's all the way down here in Oz.

Especially if we had some more aussie muscle.

May I suggest a stable full of VL's. Plenty of engines and racing variants to choose from. NA 6, Turbo 6, 5.0l V8, Brock Group 3, Brock Group A, Walkinshaw.

Not allowed to drive my real one around Bathurst, would love to do it in GT.

What's stopping you? Besides the speed limit lol

I drove on the track about 2 weeks ago for the first time, and I couldn't believe the 60km/h speed limit... Even on the long straights! At the top it's understandable, because there are people walking dogs on the track, and you don't see them because of the blind corners.

The dipper was great fun, even at 50km/h. It made my stomach sink. From watching Bathurst races on the telly, I never knew how extreme the elevation changes were in real life.

Please, just don't run over anyone who's part of PD staff, otherwise we shall have the track only in GT7.

It is a residential road too, some of the drive ways are quite blind, and being the fact that the Wineries and the hotel all use the track as the entrance, oh and its 2 way traffic... Yea it does suck only doing 60, still, the dipper's fun 👍 Oh, and the view from the Skyline, especially over the city at night, is quite good.

Isle of Man and Targa Florio need to be in Gran Turismo, I made this video and sent it to Kaz the other day in the hope it sways him to include it

Would be amazing with a car or bike, it needs to happen.

This is a lap on project cars.

Spa looks almost identical on PC v GT5 so hopefully Bathurst is the same as PC is the best gaming Bathurst I've seen to date.

If we could get some Aussie V8's in GT5 on this track it will be epic!

Here is a couple more:

You do realise neither track is close to being finished on pCars, right?

They still look much better than the Shift versions, good to see a Bathurst that resembles real life.

I'm quite excited to see GT5's version especially seeing as they have photoed it in real life. If it is the same quality as GT5's Spa it will be epic!

Would be funny if the team that was spotted scanning Bathurst was actually working for Iracing. XD

That actually would be ironic. But wasn't Kaz spotted there with the team?

Iracing scans tracks different to pd afaik there was a video iracing scanning some little track in the USA with some big white apparatuses, they say a basic track can be scanned into a less detailed track in 6 weeks a video is floating around on the YouTube channels.

I do remember taking my bike up around the mount and seeing another bunch scanning the track. Did some research (After doing a few laps to find out the name of the company and to see if everyone was part of the same company) when I got home and found out it was a laser scanning company that does scanning for mining projects..
Didnt think too much of it but I doubt they'll turn the track into a mine. Also remember reading that they do general scanning for other companies and what not although not as much as they do mining jobs..

The date on the article puts it about 2/3 weeks after I saw them scanning the mount.. Whether or not it's linked is a different story...

How would it be ironic?

Because its just like rain on your wedding day.
Sorry I meant ray-eee-ain on your wedding day :sly:

Edit: Actually its more like meeting the man of your dreams (finding out your favorite track has been scanned for a video gone) and then meeting his beautiful wife (finding out its been scanned for a game you do not have).

Is that you, Ed?

Yes, iRacing quite literally scans the tracks with laser scanning technology. PD just do it the old fashioned way, 'scanning' the track by taking tons of photos, videos and likely GPS and other technical data from the track owners.

That's why iRacing tracks are some of the most accurate in the sim racing world. PDs are pretty good and fairly accurate but until they start laser scanning as well they won't be perfect.

Maybe PD will be using a dev version of the CAN-Gateway ECU "data logger", it would be perfect for getting a true scale map of the track with elevation, I know they are using it to get lap data but in my mind it would have a place in mapping tracks as well, all you would need is two laps, one up against one track edge then one on the opposite to get an accurate start for a track.

It is not really, it has just recently being *discovered* by mainstream audience and suddenly become a highlight of many wishlists.

More like the Bathurst 12 hour moving to FIA GT3 regs and gaining international recognition and entries recently, especially from factory backed Euro teams that are increasing it's draw

Unfortunately, as of 5 days ago, United Autosports withdraws McLaren MP4-12C entries from Bathurst 12 Hour :(
replaced with Audi R8 Ultra
