GT5 - Cars customizable like in Forza2

I remember reading way back around when GT5 was officially announced that the cars were being designed for interchangeable bumpers and skirts. Now that damage is confirmed, customization is entirely possible because having damage means each panel of the car has to have been built separately. I've always wanted customization, even though a lot of people are afraid it'll turn out like Forza 2 where everyone is either ricing out their cars or replicating those from movies. I want it to build true race machines, so if this is true, I can hardly wait.

The thing I don't understand is why people care if others make their cars look like crap. It's not like they forced the people (who want non-pimped cars) to also make crappy cars!

GT5:P offers a glimspe of what we might get in terms of body mods in GT5 with the Concept by Gran Turismo tuned cars, two of my faves are the widened Cappucino and the widened Elise, which have more extensive body mods though not wild ala Need For Speed Carbon. Then there's cars like the Clio V6 that only has a wing attacked to the back of the car and the Viper Coupe that has a new bonnet and a wing. The car with the biggest body modification is probably the Evo IX.

Man all this GT Goodness is killing me.....Still got 5 more days until Prologue comes to Canada...

I think he was saying this could have gone in the thread that is talking about Madrid being in GT5, rather than a thread talking about car customization.

I noticed, after I posted :dunce::lol:.

Anyone got any thoughs about the GT Concept turned cars and how they might be a peek at what we might get in GT5?

Thanks for the video joe8. 👍

Can anyone else who understands Italian confirm what has been said?

Wow, GT5 is going to be the greatest driving game of all time! :dopey:

I was thinking the same thing until the reports of how broken the online mode is started pouring in.

If they fix the online mode then it will be the greatest driving game of all time

Car customisation is a good idea because it creates a greater feeling of car ownership. Some people have bad taste in cars, and that shows in real life, GT should replicate that :). I personally like a car to look slightly understated and a little classy. The idea that i can make a street car, an amateur race car, or a fully sponsored race car adds a lot more depth for me. I've always spent hours painting cars since the days of indycar 1 and nascar 1. Its also good for online racing. It helps me look individual from the other racers using the same car as mine. Some people might not like my cars, but hopefully i'll be too far in front :sly:

I was drooling at that too, and wondering if any Race Mod would include serious chassis reworking like that. Surely Kazunori-dono is aware of the clamor for the return of Race Mod, and the way the paintshop has exploded enthusiasm for Forza. And I have to disagree about the inevitable Forza cliche - "Every car is a ricer or some stupid movie car." I keep peeking in, and I have yet to see an ugly ricer, dorky movie car or porn mobile in a race.

If Kaz and the lads give us a better than Forza style race mod shop, I may never touch Forza again. If they decide to punt on this till GT6, I'm afraid I'll have to get Forza 3 at some point. The ability to paint up your car to stand proudly alongside any real life BTCC, ALMS or DTM car is pure joy.

has it been confirmed about the damage yet?! I REALLY hope it does have damage. And that it ditches the stupid penalty system. I really cannot wait for this game to come out and as soon as i get a PS3 i will pre-order this game :D.

Also, real customisation would be great in this game! The only thing with Polyphony Digital trying all this out for the 1st time, is that GT5 will most probably get lots of delays (like GT4 did). Some of the features may be a bit broken aswell... But I'd happily wait a month or two later for a properly finished off, top-notch game 👍.
