This is simply too much work to start from scratch one year before release.
Who says they haven't worked on all this well before the last year?

The custimization should be similar to that of GT4... it was still very sophisticated, Forza's custimization was too arcady, which is not GT's style
Damage and bodykits what more do you want! I already can see my self drifting a R32 GTS-T with a BN-sports kit around Ebisu!
I don't see how it's "arcady", all the parts except for the Forza parts(race style body kits) are available in real life. Also it is amazing how realistic people can make cars, their tons of really good looking race cars. You really should play the game before you rush to judgment. The custimization should be similar to that of GT4... it was still very sophisticated, Forza's custimization was too arcady, which is not GT's style

Only if you can only customize the looks. Even then, I wouldn't want to see a spoiler on a ferrari. It would be great, if you could put the engine in the middle of a Mazda or something, but you really can't upgrade a ferrari. That's why I think they should only implement full customization on the cheap cars. Then, they should narrow the variety of the customizations till just the paint job for the super cars.
Ferrari's own race/track versions have wings (spoiler) on them.
Why do you think a game which is so heck bent on authenticity would have such a cartoony feature? Even Forza 2 didn't have something like that, and I doubt any serious racer ever will. Nah, give us name brand body kit parts, as well as some Polyphony designed parts.Personally, I think PD should take a leaf out of EA's book and include something like the Autosculpt feature
