I am wondering why Sony doesn't want to push other titles like Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III later, but to delay a title almost five years production time. Don't tell me Sony wants to save the best for the last.

I believe they are working on world-wide release which would make more sense to me.

I hope the people complaining were actually going to import it, because it really only affects japan :|

Damn. I was all geared up for importing.

Reminds me when GT5p was supposed to come out in October 2007 and ended up being December.

Just hope for worldwide release or a shorter gap between the Japan and Eu release.

Haha very nice :D 👍

Why is it so clear that is not their best interest?
If they put it on the shelf, people will but it. Some may have to wait until the next month because they bought another new release in March, but they will have bought it. My point is if someone wants GT5, they will buy it. No other release is in the same genre, so all this speculation about other releases pushing GT5 back in unclear in my eyes.

Of course they will and so will I, but from a company perspective this may hurt potential sales from other major titles. It's more likely that people will by both, say, God of War 3 and GT5 if they are spread apart as opposed to them being launched within weeks of eachother. Sadly thats the way it is and I wish that wasn't the case as we all do.

The king of all waited on games would be Starcraft 2 though wouldn't it?

Oh well, at least this gives me time to save up for a g27, and build a new rig!

Gents, and possibly ladies too stand by for a rig my brother built and is on sale to make room for a new rig we are building. (home made rig)

I guess I'll have to buy some more whiskey then... AND get a girlfriend. Yep, that'll make the time go faster. But seriously, I hope GT5 doesn't become Duke Nukem Forever, I might not live that long.

My girlfriend told me that am obsessed with GT5 and Ashley Tisdale!!!! lol

As much as this really does pain me to see as i cant help but think the uk version will be delayed aswell, I have to agree with the people who have suggested that it has been delayed in order ot have no conflicts with any other games released. All those people who cant afford to buy two games in one month could very well opt for a game like final fantasy if it is released first or it could be a case of the fact final fantasy has a larger group of fans than GT. If this is the case then it is purely a financial choice by sony and being someone who worked for sony for eight and a half years i would not be in the least bit suprised if sony have made a choice that will upset alot of poeple just to make more money because no matter how many people on here bitch about it we all have to be honest and say we are all going to buy a copy and anyone who doesnt i would say is not a fan. the only thing those people would be doing is attacking the game itself. The game is not at fault. The ONLY people at fault is sony. It is also worth pointing out the SCE is not really the same compnay as Sony themselves. they are run independantly and the thing they have in common is the world wide name and bank account.

I dont think there is a hope in hell of getting either a download of the GT5 demo and even less chance of there being a new update for GT5P. why would they spend time doing that when they could put their time to much better use on other things. I am very sure Kaz will have GT6 in the back of his mind already. he might be concentrating on GT5 but he will if a true fan always be htinking of the next evolution.

Much peace and love :)

Sorry, Japan! You guys can wait like the rest of us.

Here's to hopes of a world-wide release.

If not, prepare for world-wide frustration.

My best guess: May 2010

Anything later that and you can expect a lot of tough questions for PD and SCE.

1. This is an official delay from the "official" release in Japan.
2. They make the delay announcement 2.5 months ahead of the, now delayed, official japanese "official" release date.
3. They announce the delay without a new release date.
4. They use the word "postponed indefinitely" in their statement.
5. According to one news source, they give themselves a month to announce a new Japanese, and only Japanese, release date.
6. They quote a "technical" issue as the reason for the delay.

Having read every news article relating to this delay, my conclusions are that:

A. The game (PD) has run into some serious technical (bugs) issues they can't seem to overcome.

B. The game is and has been very far from completion all along. (I favor this theory)

or

C. Sony has now placed an additional burden on PD with the inclusion of 3D as a part of GT5.

If the delay is due to financials and/or marketing, well, then they are complete idiots. Also a strong possibility given their track record.

GT5 should dictate the sale of other games.

And they say it's a production problem, does that mean the game is about done? And that the production stage has been affected?

Wow, how come I kind of expected this to happen?

Yet another set back, way to go for Sony and PD to give more people yet more reasons to run over to the Forza camp. I know I have; If I'd bother to even buy a PS3 or an XBOX360 right now, I wouldn't want to wait nearly half a year when I can have an at least equally fun game at this very moment.

I really do think it is going to be down to controlling sales of this or another game one way or another

Production problems can occur early or late in the process. It could be many things.

When "production problems" occur, companies usually try to fix things first and still try to make the original deadlines. Considering the fact that they decided to announce that they are having "production problems" makes it sound like it's something fairly major & they're absolutely sure they wouldn't have been able to meet the March date.

The PD team is hooked on playing Forza 3 they don't have time to develop GT5 hahah

How is this person allowed to post on GTPlanet? All his comments are negative in nature towards PD or Sony for that matter. He clearly doesn't have a interest in GT5 except to troll it on GTPlanet.

💡

You could complain about his punctuation. :)
Kidding.

While his posts seem to be straddling the line, I don't think that Sony or PD worship (too strong I know, but too tired to think of a better fit) should be a prerequisite for the forums.

Maybe ForzaGT will call us all communists again.

To all those who haven't read the news page Sony Europe has stated that “This information on the GT release is only applicable for the Japanese market,” implying that the North American and European release dates will not be affected".
If is was that much of a "major problem" if would affect the entire release.

Considering that, by omission, we could still take as certain the 2010 release date, I'm happy to see that, looking to calendar, we're just 342 days away from the end of 2010...

Sony and PD NEVER have given an "official" release date for the EU and NA. Therefore, of course those dates are "unaffected". They can now say GT5 was always scheduled for December 2010 (or later for that matter) all along for those markets, leaving Japan as the only "official" delay.

On the fiscal year issue, if that was the reason, all they had to do was push the release back by a week, hence making GT5 a 2010 Fiscal year release.

No, Sony and PD have never been honest about the GT5's real status. Regardless, they are making a mess of their crown jewel and handling it like amateurs, showing little respect for its customers and fans.

I agree , but a March release date was confirmed and Kaz also said the NA /EU release "would be close after " so your theory of Dec 2010 is just negative talk or have you got evidence of the Dec release

Read carefully again. I am speculating "They can now say...". Meaning "any date" they chose can be claimed as their originally chosen release date for the EU and NA.

I do agree with you!! We don't have a clue why the game was delayed ("production issues" couldn't be more generic) ... Sony and PD should at least give all GT fans a convincing reason for the postponement.

Unless they want to look like fools and I highly doubt it "close after" doesn't mean nearly 9 months after

I honestly stopped looking forward to GT5. PS3 has been out for 3 years now and GT4 for like 6 years. They showed GT5 about 4 years ago and still nothing.

My guess is that if it was delayed in Japan, North America won't get delayed (since there was never a release date) but just released later. I expect this game by late 2010 or early 2011.

They already do look like fools, if not worst. As far as the 9 months, well, I wouldn't want to bet on it.

Remember last year when we were talking about a KY quote saying that GT5 will be released "soon after" GT: Mobile?

I remember reading what developers mean when they said "soon after" and how long that would be in normal people time...

Voltaic ,
I dont think by this stage of the production, advertising , demo's at shows and increase publicity from everyone it will be December ,but if it is I will PM you with a humble message saying I was wrong

Whatever with the delay. It gives me more time to save up to buy a PS3, G27, and then the game (yes, I'm still content with GT4).

I hear you, mate. 👍

I can almost easily bet we will never see GT5 coming out.

Once the thought that some people will die without having seen GT5 released crossed my mind... I felt so sad, honestly.

with all the good news in the last week or so, this.... was just a stake through the heart!! :( :( :(

Shot through the heart, and you are to blame! (GT, you give love a bad name!)[/BONJOVI]

I was pretty bored.

This is something that people should take in mind before especulating again, to be honest.
