From the sound of it the game is going to come out smack dab in the middle of the Christmas rush. Not bad as most of us will be going on break right around then and it wont hurt sales.
It appears this has turned into a post my ride thread. I'd be ashamed to post my '95 Corsica but when I get home ill post a picture of me crashing my SV650s in an armature race at Road America.

Those rims... :(

I don't understand why you would want to intentionally ruin your car like that. Have you no self respect?

Really? I think the rims are the best part! 👍

I would post a picture of my $300 '94 Lumina... but I don't want to make y'all jealous. ;)

I talked to the guy at EbGames and he told me that recently their sony representitive has told them the release date is Dec 7 :nervous:

Not the most ideal date, I was really hoping for November 30th. But December 7th seems to be the most common date thrown around on the internet. If this is the date Sony gives us, I wouldn't be surprised.

Don't be so sure... Even a broken clock is right two times a day. :indiff:

lmao.

Nothing wrong with the green wheels! (Except for the fact that they look like stock...are they?) Now, as far as that color goes with a dark green car...ehh.

Thats early. I'd suspect Sony would want to delay it to 2011 now otherwise sales will be decimated. The November 2nd was a deadline by Sony for GT5 hence LBP2 getting delayed etc so GT5 had complete primetime. But ya know PD still missed the big holiday period putting Sony into turmoil.

This is the last GT that has complete autonomy. The deadline delay has caused major repercussions at Sony.

I think you can pretty much rest assured that this won't happen.

Really? There were some people on the GameFAQs forum who said that they were talking to Gamestop, and they said that their Sony Reps told them Nov 30th... Either way, I think we're definitely looking at a release window before Christmas.

It's not being delayed into next year. There is nothing to hint it would be especially now that we know the discs are being printed and the game is finished.

Quick synopsis of the last few days/weeks -

  • Yes, GT5 was delayed.
  • Why? Because KY wants it to be perfect (at least that's the current story). Shocker, eh?
  • No, PD hasn't given us a new release date.
  • No, Sony hasn't either.
Other than those facts, is there really any point in theorizing when it might come?

Whatever anyone hears on a gaming forum, or from a gamestop employee is wrong. None of these people talked to a Sony rep. Being a minimum wage emplyee for Gamestop doesn't give you insider information into what is happening on every single video game available. In fact it gives you exactly zero. Even the managers of each store are told squat.

Sonys major games were delayed into 2011 because they had a DEADLINE from PD for more than 6 months GT5 in early November. Now Sony have been left with nothing at all against Kinect etc and no major releases at all for the PS3 for the peak holiday period. An absolute calamity.

You have proof of this claim that GT5, amongst other, will not be released until after January 1, I assume?

Truer words have never been spoken, as I found out firsthand this evening.

So while on the hunt for a new cell phone charger (dog ate it), I decide to stop by my friendly neighborhood gamestop to ask about the rumor of the collectors edition being over pre-ordered.

Minimum wage teenager: Can I help you?

Me: Heard you and Amazon had to quit taking pre-orders on GT5 CE due to limited quanity.

Minimum wage PS3 hater: Nope we are still taking orders and expect plenty of copies to show up 1-11-11.

Me: That sounds like a placeholder date.

Gamestop idiot: Nope that is the street date.

Me: Where exctly did you get your info?

Should be working at McDonalds: Says so right here on my screen.

Me::banghead:

Just for s**t* and giggles I was looking a the Dec 2010 Playstation Magazine while I was at the grocery store. GT5 was mentioned exactly 1 time in the whole magazine and that was a little aside where they noted the top 20 most wanted games. GT5 was number 2 under Black Ops.

That's it.

What's most likely the biggest PS3 exclusive ever and the words "Gran Turismo 5" appear exactly 1 time in Playstation's own magazine. Meanwhile they had a whole article on NFSHP......

I hate to be negative, and I was really hopeful right after hearing that they were "pressing discs" but this makes no sense. I really hope something comes out at SEMA, because if not, I just don't see how they would release it in 2010. Especially without any advertising.

GT5 has become to Sony what Area 51 is to the federal government. An outward nuisance that they constantly have to address with outsiders. Something that they are grudgingly forced to admit exists because of overwhelming photographic evidence but would really rather not talk about.

In their defense, the mag also has it on the calendar toward the front of the magazine (on the 11-2-10 date) and last month they did have a pretty big (for them) feature on GT5. Not nearly as large as using half the mag for god of war like this month's.

Sony's mag is the most poorly written gaming magazine I've read this side of the 1980's. The only reason I'm still a subscriber is that I keep taking them up on their $2.99/yr rates. At that price, they're an inexpensive way to level tables, or start the bbq.

Sony is not affiliated with any magazine as far as I know. Any magazine with OFFICIAL in the title paid to have that word in it's name.
