GT5 demo at bestbuy have questions

today at best buy i was playing gt5 demo the game was 3d and mabe that what made the diffrence. however the game seemed better than actual gt5. when i hit other cars sparkes flew out like no tommorow. the bumoer fell of in a couple light hits like in real life. and the smoke was incredible. is this possible because of 3d or is the demo simply a boost of the original game?

The demo had better damage features than the retail copy of the game, yes.

Dayum, that's false advertising.... shady, did it show a disclaimer message?
Still sounds awesome, It'd make a great, stand-alone download. Gt5 with better damage and
alpha effects, take my money PD!

It could and more than likely is because the demo had better damage like CAMjhr said but 3D is bound to make a big difference as well.

Its a demo. It says in the beginning of the demo something about that the demo is not the final version of the game. That things could change or get better in the final version. All demos say it somewhere in the game. Not faulty advertisement

The reason for it was that new manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini didn't want their cars showing damage to that extent. Any reason a game that's 8 months old still has a demo at Best Buy?

That's my philosophy as to why GT5 doesn't have good crash damage but I don't want to get off topic. :sly:

Dunno, those makes are in other games that feature extensive damage, Forza
etc, why would GT be treated differently?
First time I've heard of a demo that's actually better than the final game. Would love to try it out, but I don't think we have Best Buy's in Ireland.

Well GT is not Forza, GT could of had problems gaining permission for damage from certain manufactures and what not but I don't know how that really works. In addition to the licence I don't think PD is able nor is any other game designer on the market right now able to create real simulated damage that the systems can handle.

Ya I hate that. This is the first GT game with those manufacturers and yet they were in need for speed and Forza. Why would they say no for so long to be in the greatest racing series and yes to just whatever ones? The demo everything is awesome and looks amazing, which to me is false advertising since your advertising that your game will have all these cool things than it doesn't. Not fair at all. When they say it's just a demo and may not be same as real game that disclaimer means there may be a special track or series that are for demo only not a bunch if features that are not even in the game.

That is the actual reason haha, no speculation behind it.

I would, but I don't remember where I read it. But it was a stipulation of their contract that the damage couldn't reach a certain extent. Feel free not to believe since I don't have evidence, I deserve it because of my bad memory. :grumpy:

I don't disbelieve it, I just wanted to read it myself. 👍

That argument is invalid. Manufacturers wouldn't want realistic mechanical failure, wheels through windshields, roof caving in killing driver, driver flying out. That dosent include engine failures due to being smashed in at 35 mph, etc

Kind of an excuse IMO

How would you know what manufactures want in a video game? :odd:

We aren't talking about engine failure. We're talking about body damage that hinders the beauty of the car, therefore not desirable for the manufacturer.

We don't know why Porsche didn't allow PD to have licensing, although a prominent theory is that there were already enough licenses handed out already. And no need to double post, the "Edit" button is your friend 👍.

Thats what this is about, crash damage being with-held because of licensing but yet EA completely destroyed that Porsche.

Yes, obviously but I just had to put that in there.

Even if they did I don't think they'd make damage any better, none of the manufactures in GT5 have good crash damage.

Way to be on the lookout for the double post "mod", just playin'. ;)
