lol not happening
If you have seen the GT5 trailer, you see that WRC and NASCAR are finally here. But with all these racing series, it makes me think that GT5 is turning into a racing simulator. What is happening to the old days? Where you could do the crazy? Putting a stage 4 turbo on a mini cooper and beating skylines? Hardcore tuning to make a road car race car comparable? Tuning your Evolution road car to make it competitive with the Evolution rally car? What's going to happen? If GT5 becomes a racing sim then there is no more reason for road cars. What do you think?

They are adding, not subtracting anyting. It's gonna be fine, no need to worry. With every part being modeled separadetly, they already said tuning will be more in depth.

I chose I don't know. I like racing street legal cars. I hope that it will be like GT4 (Street cars, tuning parts and lots of races to do) but I don't mind if PD are adding NASCAR and WRC in GT5. I don't think that PD will remove the street cars and the tuning parts (Turbo stage 4 and all). This is a big part of the GT series.

Enough with the stupid threads

How does WRC and NASCAR possibly mean there will be no tuning options

i think you might be a little over reacting man. yes there adding new style of races but i dont remember them ever saying you will get race cars but you no longer get to tune your road cars. remember this is KY vision and i believe hes said tuning cars was in his vision this is just adding to his vision.

The GT series is going in the same direction its been going for 10 years now.

Kazunori Yamauchi's vision is for GT to be an automotive encyclepedia, encompassing every form of racing and road cars.

Rally racing has been in GT since GT2, now GT will have an official rally series. No big difference.

NASCAR is in because it is the biggest motorsport in the United States.

Take a look at the GT5 car list, and you will see normal cars outnumber racecars probably 8 - 1 or even more.

If GT was becoming a game focused on purpose built race cars surely GT5P would have included more racecars then just the F1

Instead you have 75 street cars with some "tuned" versions of those cars.

In short, I agree with where GT is going and I don't believe normal cars are being forgotten.

Just because they are adding one type of race car doesn't mean anything. I doubt it will be turning into TOCA(1-2, not Grid) anytime soon. It's not like race cars have never been in a GT game, in fact they have been a major part of every one.

Also, chances are tuning will be more in depth because of these additions, not downhill

Trailers are inherently misleading because, by definition, they're short. IMO, the GT5 trailer was intended to show off the additions to the game (NASCAR, WRC, damage, etc.), not encapsulate the game in a two-minute long series of clips of various parts of the game. I think GT has emphasized race cars in their shorter sequences, so as to impress the casual player more; the GT4 intro movie is a great example, being dominated by clips of race cars in a game in which road cars vastly outnumber them. Indeed, I think the idea is that GT is being expanded to include as many different car-related areas as possible, like adding prominent motorsports, not necessarily forgetting its roots.

Huh?

...

"The sky is blue"

"OH MY GOD TOMORROW I WILL LOSE ALL MY MONEY!!"

Now tell me, how did you go from WRC and Nascar, both are events, if you notice, that are prominent in car culture (Hint: GT is a car game... o shi) to not being able to tune stuff. I... I do not understand, is there method to your madness?

adding more stuff is better!
They wont take out the GTR to make room for NASCAR
They wont take out the SUZUKA to make room for dirt track.

Its great to have it all in one package! Heck you might try something new and you might even like it, you never know.

Oh, the joys of being able to fit 50 gigabytes of stuff on one disc. It's both a blessing and a curse, it's a blessing because now PD won't hold back and fill it right to the brim, it's a curse because now PD won't hold back and won't release the damn game till they've filled it to the brim. XD

In my opnion, adding more race cars won't make the game only a race sim, but a BETTER DRIVING SIM.

I think it is awesome to see NASCAR and WRC in GT, but the thing that concerns me is... Sure GT has had licensed race cars before but they never had official sanctioned bodies. So does this mean NASCAR and WRC get a larger piece of the pie? As others have said, all I want is a GT4 type game built with todays standards, and some Cup cars thrown in to add some flavor.

LOL at vaioleto's post

what he says is the truth. i started racing on iracing for the raod course side of things. but to get away from the the practcing of the same track and car for the weeks races i would have a run on the ovals for fun. its alot harder then it looks and much more fun driving them then it is watching them. still wont watch nascar but if i ever got a chance to race one i would take it now.

Well as I have said a couple times before. I think Sony is using GT5 as kind of an announcement to say tey have the license to WRC and NASCAR. Which they will use to make full games for each in the future.

The first would be called NASCAR '15, the second one would be NASCAR '20, by the looks of GT.:sly:

Kaz has said they can release anytime they want. They are just going to polish it up until SONY says, "Ok, NOW you can release the game".

I don't think PD will do the developing just doing the announcing for Sony, they will probably set up a team in the San Diego studio for the NASCAR team and a team in Europe for the WRC game.

I just realized the thread hs a different title than the poll.:ouch:

I've been tricked into saying i think it's going the wrong direction.:scared::nervous::guilty:

You know what I'm mad about. In the creator's first post he made it seem like GT was never meant to be a simulator. As long as I've played GT which started with the first one. They've always had those four wors under it "The Real Driving Simulator".

So in a nut shell my friend GT, and it's creators are trying to get as close to real life as possible. They have some fun things to do in the game, but the mission is make this game real to the brim.

You fuel! Sorry, couldn't resist.

Almost exactly what I was going to say. What a wealth of race cars we have in Prologue. ;)

just adding WRC and nascar, doesent make GT a racing game!.....after all, what kind of a thread is this?

I vote for a thread shutdown.....:grumpy:

Where's the option for "This thread is nonsense"?

on topic because I don't want to be off-topic, I don't see the reason why adding WCR and NASCAR will change the way GT has always been, so I voted "yes" I like the way GT is going.

I really don't like NASCAR and couldn't care less about it being or not but I understand that it is a very important part of american automotive culture. A more interesting american series should have been better for me but NASCAR is better than nothing. I'm exited about the addition of the WRC because that means we'll have better rally racing than in GT4. So, I from wherever I look at it, we are wining

I agree with that, needs locking.

Some people you just can not please.

+3 👍

How can you start a thread like this after seeing what KY and the boys at PD have done in that trailer. Look at the graphics and the new things involved. Plus the INCREASE in tracks and cars. Nothing will be lost but a lot will be gained for sure.

Can't wait.

Whoops! Voted no instead of yes. I think GT5 will still be just like any other GT. I don't think this NASCAR and WRC license means they'll put a huge emphasis on racing. I think it just means that they'll add more oval and dirt racing to GT mode, similar to how we have the Super GT and DTM championships in GT mode. I'm looking forward to it! 👍
