damn something is wrong with those pix, mine gt5:P looks beter in 720p.
The background looks upscaled bad, but the menu is normal :dunce:

Perhaps its been noticed, maybe not,
But there was specualtion(and much arguament) over whether the E3 vid was cg(pre rendered) or in game(just touched up),

But if you notice in the first pic the stands are empty and there are no signs of activity on the ground yet you see the F18 Hornets have just performed a fly by,
Now in the second picture you see that the stands are now full, the place is bustling with activity and the F18's have still only just flown past(the coloured contrails/smoke signalling such),

Maybe its clear proof of a pre rendered cg trailer or maybe its just clipped together, anything on my part is obviously just specualation at this point,
Just putting it out there

Don't give a rats ass about jaggies or brake rotors.
Last time I checked GT is a driving simulator, not brake rotor simulator.

lol you're such a moron. that can be said about anything.. GT5 is not a day and night simulator, or a crash simulator.

IGN made an analysis of the trailer and stated it was ingame/inengine and no cgi. They said that certain inconsitancies and minor rendering bugs would not have occured in a prerendered trailer, but in a scene rendered by the engine. (Like the flag that was clipping through the pole and some shadows on the cars at the Nürburgring were not completely right.)

So IGN said it was ingame and Kazunori Yamauchi also said it was ingame, so i guess it was all ingame, or at least inengine, so maybe some replay/photomode thing.

Yup, just because it's ingame doesn't mean that they didn't touch it up a little afterwards. ;)

There is some post processing going on, like depth of field and such things, that is not found in true gameplay, but might be in replay and photomode. And the AA is very high, which could still be rendered inengine, but definately not for gameplay.

We will know when the game finally releases and that will hopefully be the 4th of december.

GT4 NTSC could run in 1080i ;)
I run GT4 in 1080i, and I see a lot more jaggies in that than I see in these images. And it still looks fantastic. And of course, Prologue looks fantasticker. ;)

SMH @ you.
I think it's taking it a bit far when people start complaining about the brake rotor textures, moron.
I guess some people don't have anything else to do except criticize PD's work and find miniscule things to complain about, all day, every day.

OMG teh grass on suzuka is 2 mm taller than it should be!!!111

I think it was more about the fact that the brakes stood out due to lack of detail(or 3d model),
Its not that they are complaining so much its just that given how detailed the rest of the car is its strange to see such relatively undetailed/flat brakes/calipers,
Personal attacks are surely on the harsh side

I think its looks fine- sure I care about graphics, but gameplay is better than graphics any day of the week- and GT:5 is sure to be better than the other Gran Turismo games.

Personal attacks are not tolerated here, and neither is "returning the favour". Keep your comments civil or keep them to yourself.

Ouch... not only do they look flat, they look low res, compressed and/or blurry...

Did anyone else also realize that these pics are just upscaled from smaller pics? I have some of these pictures and they are like 600x300 or something like that. Can't anyone tell by the amount of jaggies in these screenshots? The real menu will look tons better at its full resolution.

+1 👍

I am suprised people dont see that..

Fianlly, someone stated the obvious. You only need to look at GT5:P to see how the cars look.

No they are not. Look at the menu icons.. or upscale by yourself 600x300 pics and compare them to these.

As I said, compare thoes pics to what you actually see in Gt5:P, there's clearly a big difference. Thoes pictures are poor quality. Be them upscaled from a lower resolution or captured in some poor fashion, they are not representative of what I see on my TV set GT5:P. And I can tell that from other pics and videos in GT5 there isn't a notable difference in the graphics to GT5:P.

Indeed, it's only the car model that is jaggy..

However it probably isn't representative of the final game, perhaps it's just a placeholder, I don't think PD would take an un-necessary step backwards in that regard, so really there isn't much to really learn from those until TGS.

Yep all true, gt5p looks better than gt5 on those screens...

Theyre not native 1920x1080 though.
Sony never released them with this size, they must be resized.

They are 1920 * 1080 pics from Eurogamer, there are some slight artefacts, but they must be either correct, or upscaled from at least 720p (at a guess)?

Well Eurogamer must have these pics from another source (theyre the same as the low-res from the dubious article, just in 1920x1080) and Sony never released them with that resolution. Theyre neither in the official Gran Turismo press sites nor on the official PlayStation press site, so, who made them?

They also dont have the Copyright watermark all original 1080p screenshots from PD have.

Who knows, but they are GT5, they are 1920*1080, the detail on the icons suggest it's legit to me..

Here's the Demo's menu screen in this vid..
http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/gran-turismo-5-show-floor-gameplay

It is the correct menu screen (From the demo at least)

As I said before, this is likely a placeholder for the game, PD would not take a step backwards, but to say that these aren't legit doesn't make sense, going by the video above..

Like i also already said, they are the exact same pics we got around the GamesCom.
Just in a higher resolution.

Yep, agreed, but I think the point is, people have said that the aliasing is a side effect of the source image being a lower resolution then upscaled.

All I'm saying is, if you look at the detail in the first Icon, and see the pixel resolution of the text, the aliasing on the car is a degree higher then this, so in actuality, the aliasing on the car is more then likely correct as it was rendered..

Of course, where the shots came from who knows, and it is probably early demo code etc, but it clearly is from PD, whether official or not.

Menu screens have always been a bit jaggy. I can't see it 1 or 2 meters away on my 1920x1080 40inch telly (looks seamless) but get close up and you can see it clearly.

My desktop is just 1280 and I'm sat very close so these 1920 pics look quite bad.

But I wonder if any downgrade has happened to accommodate deformation and other physics?

gtplanet has these GT5 pics at 1067×600 but even upscaling them and adding sharpen doesn't match the icons so these do seem genuine 1920 pics
