How do you mean? There doesn't have to be more on the PlayView list... That block of 31 x 29 cars could well be a mix of both standard + premium.

Unless someone is bothered enough to look in depth (not me personally - sorry folks), we don't know how these cars have been ordered / listed. Personally I don't care because I play in bumper cam view anyway. We've been told 800+ standard & 200+ premium = 1000+ cars which is good enough for me. 👍

sorry it sounded like there were only 899 cars in the game, so i was like that can't be right

Same, i'm bumper cam view driver as well. I can drive much faster using bumper cam cause i can see the whole road. Never cared for cockpit but it'll be cool to look at during replays, hopefully i can take snapshots of it in the rain at night like the Enzo cockpit shown in the new trailers.

Theres one thing that really worries me about GT5.

In the playveiw images, we see lots of old favourites from previous GT's, like the 2.0i 16V Renault Megane i saw. What bugs me is that we won't get the new mainstream metal and have to play with old cars. Wheres my Megane 250RS? And why do we have a pre-facelift Focus ST? Com'on GT... :nervous:

Look closer:

Look at all the Mine's Skylines. Looks like every version. Both the R33 and R34. It would appear, however that there's 2 R33 Mine's Skylines. Which probably explains why one is listed as the "Lancer Evo". Seems like someone was in a hurry and just tossed in a bunch of Mine's Skylines in the Mine's category.

As to the reason why The Prius is Premium (and it would appear that only the 3rd Gen Prius is premium), Basically all the new cars to the series (GTPSP cars excluded, which explains why the Audi R8 LMS and Countach are standard) will be premium. Only a handful of cars from previous games are getting premium treatment. However, Kaz has implied that the Standard cars are simply fillers and that GT6 won't have them. Basically the Premium cars are how he wants ALL the cars in GT series to look eventually. But, it takes a long time to model those cars. I would assume that some more would be added via updates or DLC, but it's more likely that we won't see them a lot of them until GT6...or 7. Depends if they can figure out a way to shorten the modeling time...as they did with GT2 and GT4.

a premium prius to me (no offense) is a bit wierd...it's more affordable in real life than say...a zonda....so why waste a premium spot on a prius when you could interest more people into driving their dream cars that they can't afford in real life. Just imo though.

Because Kaz already mentioned that there were 3 factors in the cars chosen:
1. Cars PD wanted in
2. Cars Manufacturers wanted in (Prius applied here I'm guessing)
3. Cars fans wanted in

Even though I love exotics and supercars, I am glad we have a wide variety of Premium cars to choose from instead of just $100k+ dream cars.

Edit: Nice to see the Mazda Furai

Ok, it may be interesting to drive a premium Prius with the fancy dash and displays. I agree, it is a good reason for it to be premium.

But FUN to drive is maybe a bit too much :P If I recall correctly it handles like a tug boat, sounds terrible, and has mushy brakes.

But yes, I bet we are going to have all sorts of hybrids and maybe electrics and some mpg/autonomy licences, tests, or races of some sort and it will be cool to have those elaborate dashboards to keep an eye on and svae fuel.

I really don't understand how they choose cars 👎
megane 2.0 16v instead of renault sports one or R26 R26R. I'm afraid they don't change anything from GT4 in regards of european hot hatches

...It' a shame (hope i'm wrong)

I hope we are wrong Enciah, but it's what I said in other threads... There are lots of pre-2005 GT4 cars and there are VERY FEW less than 5 years old cars, only the ones in Prologue (R8, M3 E92, Focus ST...).

I miss lots of exciting recent cars, especially europeans:

Seat Leon Cupra R, Mercedes-Benz C63 & E63 AMG, Audi RS4, Renault Megane R26, New Renault Clio Sport, Volkswagen Scirocco, newer Aston Martins...

C63 is confirmed 👍

This list may help confirm many cars. Already released in other games. But I'm pretty sure PD would not realease a recent car list to a 3rd party to develop and show case this kind of tech. It would be a very big mistake to allow such leak.

Therefore I expect many of the aboved mentioned and worthy machines to still find their way in, in the final list.

Yeah exactly they're holding back a lot of cars, the less cars on that view tech demo the better if you ask me...

Okay, to be honest it isn't the car I'm looking forward to the most ( not even close ), I mainly pointed out it can be ( again, can be ) more fun to drive in a game than it seems to do in real life.

Now we're on the subject, as GT5 has a few more hybrids, I do wonder if the tuning part will be implemented in the same way as GT4 did.
Meaning that when you tuned the engine of a Prius ( yes I did ) it basically became a regular but rather heavy petrol-engined FWD 5-door hatchback whereby the hybrid part was disabled ( if I remember correctly ).

Ironically this made the only part which indeed could be interesting ( or fun ), and basically the one defining characteristic, redundant and made driving the Prius from being a unique experience ( which it was, whether you actually liked it or not ) into just another car ( unfortunately still looking like a Prius ;)).
I sort of hope the hybrid technology will still play a part when the car is tuned, although the Honda CR-Z may actually be more interesting purely as a petrol-engined car.....

I agree with you. Fun car/challenge. Just very odd to see the expression "fun to drive" (keyword being drive) and Prius in the same sentence. 👍

They listen.

To us fans, GTP and other forums, and loads of (decent) marketing research.

I know some are missing, for example there are a lot of Skyline and 3000GT but I don't know the exact model so I left them out for now.

This remind me the citroen xsara in GT4, it was the VTR 110 hp version...the real hot hatch, the VTS 160 wasn't in the game...as for megane 2.016V instead of renault sport 225 (or 230).

There is really a lack of coherency in car selection.

Why are people so surprised by the cars shown on that screen?
We still haven't seen all Premium cars and we already knew the cars from GT4/GT-PSP would be carried over as Standard.
A real surprise would be if a new Premium car appeared on that screen which I still haven't seen as only the Premium cars will include any new additions to the series.
