Just re-read it and he really means the retail code.

No other GT featured such thing, did it? All GT games had some type of trick\exploit, but they are totally different beasts.

It makes even less sense to something like this exist now, in a environment where gaming progression is tied with things like trophies and a (competitive) online community. Cheats would only split the user base.

Yeah. Imagine if you have spent 50 hours on GT5 and has 60% of the trophies. Then some guy who has played 5 hours comes and has 100% of the trophies.

I would be so so so angry.. it would just feel like.. ****.

I disagree. I couldn't care less about trophies( just means your a lazy git, sat infront of a console all day. Hardly compares to a medal earned in an act of bravery or heroism)

Oh and the only person he's cheated is himself. Like buying an RPG and a game guide to go with it.
Let them carry on, I get enjoyment from how I choose to play, sod what other people do.

Chill and enjoy it your way mate.

Yeah well some people dont give a damn about trophies, and some actualy does.
Besides it makes games last longer for me, cause there is a reason to do things in games that you normaly wouldn't.

Pros and cons. Gives developers an artificial way of extending a mediocre games life by adding a ridiculous trophy.

You enjoy it, that's what matters.

I doubt you can get any trophies if you'd use cheat codes, if they'll even be in GT5. Works like this in GTA IV and some other games at least. As soon as you use any cheat code, certain trophies will become unavailable.

Yeah that's true. Well I can't even imagine such a cheat in a Gran Turismo game. Sounds wierd.

Well, at least he said it will be released before christmas... Although we'll never know for sure what caused the delay.

Like the one in guitar hero where you have to play all songs in a row without pausing and get 100% in all of them.

If people want to cheat then good for them, we are on gtplanet because we want to enjoy the game do you think that person will get the same enjoyment out of the game.

I agree that some trophies are kinda extreme. And I would play GT5 even if there wasnt any trophies.
But now it will be, and then it would feel bad if someone who hasn't put any effort in things gets medalions that I had to fight for. Its the same with the "in-game-trophies" when you win a race.

OK, I'm sure this is going to be shot down and I will be labled the same as all the other new members who drop in to tell us that their local videogame shop says the release date is xyz... but I feel I need to share a recent conversation.

So... as per usual I dropped into my local videogame store where I have the signature edition on order, the manager / owner is a big GT fan and when I saw the first details of the Signature edition I asked if he could order it, he said he hadn't been told about it at that point, but he rang Sony and said they had heard of it, but it wasn't available for order yet, and that it was not publically announced for Australia even, anyway he rang me a couple of days before it was advertised in store to confirm my preorder.

This time I figured I would ask if he could get the shot glass available in otherparts of the world and he said he would check and get back to me.

I then asked if he had any news on the release date, I figure why not, and this is what he said:

"Last week I was at a conference with Sony representatives and they explained that cheat codes for the game had been stolen / hacked and there was a worry that they would be released to the public... "

At this point I interjected and said "Do you mean they had to remaster to prevent people using the recent Playstation Hack to copy games?".

He replied: "No, cheat codes have been stolen and the developers are concerned that content that is to be unlocked over time, or when the player achieves certain goals will pretty much become unlocked for everyone at day one, thereby spoiling the game for everyone..."

I pretty much said "You are sure it was Cheat codes?" and he said:

"Yes, so they have to alter or remove those codes from the production copies which means they will have to remaster before going into production, the Sony reps assured me it was not some giant bug or anything like that, so the delay would push the game back to late November at the very earliest, but more realistically early to mid December."

Just to clarify, I have read the release day thread and know that no videogame shop employee is going to know anything before an official Sony announcement, but this story took me totally by surprise and I hadn't seen anything remotely like it anywhere before hearing it from him.

No offence, but thats bollocs!

Between hardcore and casuals, people always wanted to filter drivers by skill, so they could have some good\fun\competitive\high level whatever races.

With cheats being thrown in the mix, split them again between Hardcore cheaters and Average Joe cheaters. People even complained at the idea of using your unlocked GT5P cars on GT5 GT Mode and how that would affect online races. I know PD clarified on that, but you get the idea... this situation is similar.

Multiply that by millions and I see that as a way to send the online portion of the game to a bad start.

http://www.eurogamer.pt/articles/2010-10-28-gran-turismo-5-a-3-de-dezembro

On the portuguese site of Eurogamer, they said that is was confirmed to the editors that the game would be released on the 3th of December in Portugal

I'll Google translate the article for you guys:

"Gran Turismo 5 is certainly one of the biggest releases of the year, and the postponement to a date uncertain to the end of this year, all information with new dates seem to count.

This morning, some information came to the wording, saying that Gran Turismo 5 will be launched in Portugal on December 3.

Later confirmed by a source close to asking the right to anonymity, that really the game would be released between 3-4 December.

As on December 4th is a Saturday, we bet more by date of Dec. 3, and the time of the first purchases for the festivities.

As always, we wanted to know the opinion of SCE Portugal on this issue, still awaiting response.

Until then, watch the latest video, where is shown the first X1 Prototype."

Wow, up to the 12th Forza game and the logo still looks like amateurish crap :yuck:

Sanny, that sounds good, a regular site actually coming up with something. Fingers crossed though, as always.

No it's not. It is a gamestore owner who has no idea about computers, who got confused about 3.50 firmware fix to possibly counter the USB hack, labelled it as cheaters and... voila.

Bingo. There are no 'cheat codes' for GT5. In fact it is getting quite rare for games to have cheats. In a GT game chats would be very, very out of place and PD are not so stupid as to include them. May as well include aliens.

Not public cheats, but for reviewers, it might take hours before you unlock some tracks and especially cars.

Rolling road?... Wind tunnel?... I'm hoping this will be accessible instead of just being a photomode place.. you know like, we can buy out body kits from GTAuto and then check the aerodynamics.

Interesting, but I doubt it.
