That thing accelerates like a god, I mean literally, like they said, what would a racecar be like if it was designed with no limitations/regulations that are out there for F1 etc. Well, that's what you get lol, A car that accelerates from 130-190 in 4 seconds, and goes around corners as if it were water, a truly amazing piece of machinery.

The total load on the X1's tires at 300km/h is 1142.7kgf at the front tires, and 1432kgf at the rear tires. The coefficient of friction for the tires isμ=1.97. From these conditions, the maximum cornering force that the tires can exhibit can be determined to be 5073kgf. Dividing this by the wet weight of the X1 of 615kg comes to be 8.25, which is the maximum cornering G of the X1.

I thought the maximum co-efficient of friction was 1.00

EDIT: I read up on it, i'm mistaken.

Ignore the lovely car, not sure how close this version is to the final build but are the Arcade Only, Favorites & Portable Garage tabs new?

Yep, although I imagine that those menus were in the CR-Z demo as the track list tabs were in it also. This pretty much confirms that the reason those Sony execs didn't want people looking through the courses was due to it having all the courses featured in the game. How they managed to pull it off without the list of courses leaking is a amazing.

Anoyingly yes it seems to be the only competent thing sony have done with gran turismo 5.

OK, I'm sure this is going to be shot down and I will be labled the same as all the other new members who drop in to tell us that their local videogame shop says the release date is xyz... but I feel I need to share a recent conversation.

So... as per usual I dropped into my local videogame store where I have the signature edition on order, the manager / owner is a big GT fan and when I saw the first details of the Signature edition I asked if he could order it, he said he hadn't been told about it at that point, but he rang Sony and said they had heard of it, but it wasn't available for order yet, and that it was not publically announced for Australia even, anyway he rang me a couple of days before it was advertised in store to confirm my preorder.

This time I figured I would ask if he could get the shot glass available in otherparts of the world and he said he would check and get back to me.

I then asked if he had any news on the release date, I figure why not, and this is what he said:

"Last week I was at a conference with Sony representatives and they explained that cheat codes for the game had been stolen / hacked and there was a worry that they would be released to the public... "

At this point I interjected and said "Do you mean they had to remaster to prevent people using the recent Playstation Hack to copy games?".

He replied: "No, cheat codes have been stolen and the developers are concerned that content that is to be unlocked over time, or when the player achieves certain goals will pretty much become unlocked for everyone at day one, thereby spoiling the game for everyone..."

I pretty much said "You are sure it was Cheat codes?" and he said:

"Yes, so they have to alter or remove those codes from the production copies which means they will have to remaster before going into production, the Sony reps assured me it was not some giant bug or anything like that, so the delay would push the game back to late November at the very earliest, but more realistically early to mid December."

Just to clarify, I have read the release day thread and know that no videogame shop employee is going to know anything before an official Sony announcement, but this story took me totally by surprise and I hadn't seen anything remotely like it anywhere before hearing it from him.

GT + "Cheat codes"? Unlock everything? WAT

Why even implement such thing? (assuming he's talking about the retail code and not just some review code, which would make sense to feature such thing... so reviewers can check everything yadda yadda)

You mean work codes? To skip in a fast way for testing? its sounds real. This could be the reason for delay. But to use the codes, is that nog a choice for the gamer itself?

off//Damn! My English is the same as a burger without bacon.

But it's wierd that he speaks about a Sony meeting with random costumers...

Besides, if it is a "code", it's just to change some digits to fix it.
Nah that sounds to wierd to me, I'am guessing that the game just doesnt exist.

How do you steal a code?
I mean copy it and no one knows that you know the codes.
Or get caught copying them.
I mean how would they know?

I'm confused.

I don't think that quite falls under "some guy in a games shop said GT5 will be out ***". Glad you told us, it's an interesting possibility and not something I'd heard of before. It does make sense for unlock codes to be made available to reviewers for a game this big otherwise they wouldn't be able to try out all parts of the game and all of the cars. I'm sure it's going to take a huge number of hours to get the X1 for example.

Isn't it obvious? Bloody Ben Collins nicked it when he was posing for Stig photos!

Seems very very possible yet so embarising sony would lie about it to us. This is very interesting.

Nice one Neal.

Why didn't they just produce a review version unlocked.

To go to great lenghts to add codes to retail versions just for reviewers is asking for trouble.

Does the menu say "enter unlock codes here ps only for reviewers mind".

No it's not. It is a gamestore owner who has no idea about computers, who got confused about 3.50 firmware fix to possibly counter the USB hack, labelled it as cheaters and... voila.
