i know this isnt news, but have any of you played the forza 3 demo? believe me i love my ps3 and i am trying right now to sell the 360. but forza 3 is a VERY large step above forza 2. sense my g25 doesnt work with the 360, im not getting forza. but def a very good game and could put a good fight against gt5. i cant wait for gt5 i hope its gonna be amazing. but man really march is far away.

We are fighting about damage effects or weather but what about one of the most important effects on a racing game, the skid marks, smokes on hard braking or smokes from cars that skid or rollover. i did not see even a spec of smoke from cars doing some hard braking or skidding. I recently saw a GT racing on star sports and there are a lot of smokes from the tires and cars that drift or skid. I don't see that in Gt right now its like they are floating or on smooth rails.

I don't even see if its bouncing on the road or on the curves or chicane. It is like the cars are separate from the environment. Hope too see more improvement on those aspects and more smoke effects. In any racing there will always be smoke from tires. If you watch GT racing on TV there are a lot of smoke from braking ,skid, drift and even the start of the race there are already a lot of smoke from accelerating tires from GT racing. I saw this in GT racing in USA, Macau, Lemans, and even in nascar. I just don't believe that in GT it is so clean its like the cars are on rails.

I hope they can actually add those effects. PS3 is capable of doing that ad they have 6 months for it. i rather see those effects than Weather effects to make it more believable GT racing. My goodness a racing competition where the tires does not even emit a single smoke. They are not hover crafts.

did someone post this before?
Official Polyphony pics of the SLS...

Four with the tokyo track from the TGS built but two pics don't seems to be from this track.

From Roma track? Or somewhere else?

I've just see a TV advertising (france M6 channel) for Playstation 3 299€, with a GT5 short movie and other game's movies like uncharted...:nervous:

Advertissing with GT5 now :dunce:?? for 2010 march release??...impossible

Those advertizings may have been programmed before the release date change. Because it is obvious that they were planning a Q4 2009 release as seen in the gamescon posters.

GT5 or GT5P? ;)

GT5

but it was short and i was a bit surprised, i'm looking for this advertising on the net...

edit: sorry double post

I've already play forza 3 demo and is not what I expected,gt5 comes from another planet.Wait to gt5

GT5 should be superior graphically to Forza 3, as GT5P is already graphically superior to Forza 3, in my opinion.

As far as the rest goes, I think it is pretty clear people are hyping GT5 way beyond realistic expectations in this forum. I don't think we're going to get much more than GT5P with more tracks and cars. I can live with that, as GT5P is a great start. But many seem to expect GT5 to be outstanding in every way. I think it will be a terrific game and much loved, but it will still lack many of the features that all GT games have.

So many posters here expect so much of it and seem to never acknowledge that many other racing simulations already exist that equal or surpass GT5 in some small and some significant ways. GT5 has its strengths for sure. In particular, graphics and an outstanding attention to detail for the many street cars it faithfully represents. But if you start to look at the actual approach GT uses as far as racing is concerned, other games have really moved quite a bit ahead in several aspects. Perhaps this is why it is called a driving simulator, not a racing simulation.

It's not a GT5 advert, it's a PS3 advert. The montage of clips from different games is just to get people interested.

I didn't mean to doubt you, I meant how could you tell it wasn't GT5P? Did they show any cars that are only in GT5 (HKS CT230R etc...)?

Thanks.

I think i saw GT5 logo (and not GT5 prologue) but it was very short and i can't find the spot on the net.

If it was Gt5p, why did they use an old game with a new one (uncharted 2) in the same spot to promote ps3 slim??
I'm not sure at all and i'm looking for this spot to be sure, i'm also asking in french forums if someone saw the spot too

I find the 2010 release date to be a little odd mainly because of GTMobile and how cars are interchangeable with GT5(or however it really works). If someone beats GTM they could just transfer all the cars they earned in Mobile and make GT5 extremely easy. No?

:dopey: Does anyone know what the release date is of GT5? :dopey:

Hopefully, we will find out something on that from the Gamespot interview with Kaz @ TGS tomorrow. Mind you thats a very tentative "hopeful".

Actually I think its at PD.

SWEET... they modeled another Mercedes. NICE!

Come on, yall are actually surprised that PD pushed til 2010? Why don't you just look back 4 or so years ago at the same exact arguments/comments for GT4. It is what it is, sooner you accept it, the sooner you'll find inner peace and harmony. ;)

Interesting picture on the main page (taken at PD's HQ). I always thought Kaz didn't take any notice of other games...

His answer is PR 101. Of course he plays other games, he would be the biggest idiot on earth not to know what his competitors are doing.

By denying, he doesn't have to answer questions about the other games and the potential minefield that goes with commenting on your competitors.

I did not see even a spec of smoke from cars doing some hard braking or skidding.

Check out the following replay at the Tokyo track where the video is following three AI cars fighting it out. The replay focuses on the HKS CT230R but there is an Audi R8 and a Blitz Skyline battling it out behind. Looking back at the two cars as the HKS approaches and goes through the first corner, the R8 decided to have a go at the Skyline by out-braking it. There is a plume of tyre smoke and the R8 looked as if he might have overcooked it. It was good to see the AI being aggressive. See here at 2:00:

Also, more smoke here at 2:19 (again, an AI car locking up):

I do agree that some skid marks, perhaps minor sparks when the car bottoms out, debris on collision etc. would be nice but providing it is realistically done. I wouldn't like to see ott effects. Just subtle ones that one would see in real-life to help disipate GT's sterile (but gorgeous!) apperance. Smoke and sparks have been there before, it's just the skidmarks as far as I know.
