See, that's the beauty of custom controls cause i mapped all of those functions to the right analog stick, and that's why i love that PD allows you to do this unlike other games. :)

The right analog stick is useless for me for that function though; I want to be looking to the left/right/rear while I'm racing. If my left hand is steering and my right is occupied with gas/brake, it leaves the shoulder buttons for viewing. A GTA-style set up (L1 for left, R1 for right, both for behind) wouldn't affect my driving in any way.

Right now I have the shoulders mapped to look to the sides, but have the down button on the d-pad to look to the rear. It's not ideal, but it's the best I can do with the controller.

Analog - True, I could see the use for the Move at that point, and I can see gaming slowly progressing towards the totally immersive fantasies so popular with sci-fi movies. A suitably advanced Move could replicate our movements on-screen, allowing us to fiddle with any or all switches available for toggling. The possibilities are mind-boggling.

Is this new?I can't remember this one.

Look on left side.Premiums and Standards are separated!

(up 2 posts) For demos / general target render / imagining....

I think I'm thinking along the same lines as anyone on here.. no matter what anyone think's.....

just wait.. ... just for another few weeks..

Personally... I'm waiting until the game is im my ps3 to comment fully..but that's all we can do..

But If standards and premiums race together.. GREAT... (thats what I believe)

Even if they are shown on seperate menus but can still race together *Shock horror... but that is what I think is going to happen..*

If theyr'e seperated... OK .. if not then "vent anger/ or get on with it"

Personally I'm all for as much info as possible, but to be honest all I care about now "at this moment and time" is having the game in my hands.... finally....

I'M DEFINATELY NOT.....wondering /questioning / over analysing every sceenshot that comes from PD.... and if you are....*get a life* ((my views not GTplanet...))

I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong..

But overall I just want us to move from "questioning the game / GT..."

But to actually begin to enjoy it ........."the game / GT"

And I just hope no matter what.... That the soul of GT is still there.. nevermind the naysayers and doubters.........

yeah i can understand that, my setup in prologue was
L2-Brake R2-Accelerate
Left Analog - Steer, Right Analog- Left, Right, Rear camera's
X- Handbrake

and that's pretty much all i used.

I can't do R2 and L2 as gas/brake. I just don't like this new trend at all, where most driving games use that configuration. I had to eventually change GTA4 to classic and it made the game so much more enjoyable or me. It's just not like using a gas and brake pedal. It feels so strange.

Plus, I always use manual so it makes shifting extremely awkward. If R2 and L2 are gas/brake then what do you make the shifting buttons? I tried R1 and L1 but it's just too awkward and too much happening on the top of the controller, and I always use my index fingers to press either of those buttons (R1, R2, L1, R2), so having to use the middle fingers for gas/brake is very awkward. Using face buttons just won't do it for me either.

L2 and R2 are the perfect shifting buttons and there's really no other alternative in my mind. Back in GT2 I started using the analog stick for gas/brake and it's still by far the best way to do it IMO.

It's just a matter of habit ;)
I started GT5:P with L2/R2 gas/brake and L1/R1 shift (to try out those new buttons) and after a few hours I felt more comfortable with it than with the standard GT4 setting. Just like you can't accelerate/brake with L2/R2 I can't do that with the analog sticks :)

Like I said, I use R2 and L2 for accelerate and brake because they offer me far more control over the face buttons or sticks. I also use manual gears, and for those I use X and O face buttons for extremely rapid shifting. I've tried all kinds of combinations but none have felt as comfortable and responsive.

Oh god, same problem with me.. I used R1/L1's for gas, and R/L2's for shifting, I thought shifting with those felt alot better, but when ever i race like that It feels like the only thing I have a grasp of are those 4 buttons. The lower end hangs out, slipping from my hands all the time.

Right now I just use X-gas, R1-brake, R/L2's shifting, D pad for looking around, Up d pad to change views, and O to hand brake.

Damn. That video hit the ground running then...

I'd like to point out that I don't quite sound like that in reality.

+1. I do understand the reasoning behind using the shoulder buttons for gas/brake (it's more representative of pedals, on PS3 they have a lot more travel than the buttons), but it's probably due to now playing GT for half my life that I can't switch to this setup when using a controller. I still can't use analog for both gas and brake though because that just makes very little sense in my head, and I've never gotten past that.

Aaron - I figured you were running a shoulder-pedal setup then. I guess it does have it's advantages when it comes to button layout đź‘Ť

If all you are doing is using the shoulder buttons, of course the pad is going to feel like it is slipping because the pad shape does not lend itself well to that, not for me anyway. Using trigger attachments helps, but using face buttons to shift is even better. It leaves the top shoulder buttons free for other things such as looking behind.

Look for it within the next 8-10 weeks? I guess they aren't handing them out as early as I thought. Anyway, congrats on that!
