Other than Porsche—which is clearly a licensing issue rather than a car-count issue—which cars does FM3 include that you wish were in GT5 because they're "more fun to drive"? It seems to me that GT5 will have basically all of the cars that FM3 does, plus an additional 600 or so that might also be "fun to drive." :)

Comparing GT4's car list to that of Forza 2, I found that I would drive at best 80 of GT4's cars, as opposed to Forza 2's 105 cars. And that doesn't include any racing Porsche's or Ferrari's. Which is pretty shocking, considering Forza 2 has over 300 cars, while Gran Turismo 4 has over 700 cars. I have a list of the cars I would drive in each game, if you want me to PM them to you.

Since I'm solely basing my "argument" in past games, I'm willing to say those 1000 cars of GT5 won't be as impressive as those 400 cars of Forza. We will see once each game is released, though.

Also, keep in mind that it's entirely possible that SIM was referring to the number of cars on the track, since Forza is lagging way behind in that regard as well. ;)

It's possible that he meant that, but I believe he meant number of cars as in the car list. I'm hoping he will clear that up. 👍

Fair enough. Personally, I don't think I could choose 80 cars in GT4 that I wouldn't be interested in taking for a spin. :)

this thread caused this to me..

Well, you've got to consider the fact that GT5 has a lot of manufacturers past GT games never had. Good ones, too. Those alone should increase the amount of cars you'd want to drive in GT5 by a double-digit number, at least.

Hopefully it will. But keeping in mind the GT PSP fiasco of only two Lamborghinis and two Ferraris, and only one Bugatti, I'm keeping my hopes nowhere near high.

-minimum 10 car grid
(more graphics improvements)

The 360 has been maxed out for years now. I dont think FM4 will be getting all these great graphics improvements. The 360 already struggles to show what FM3 offers.

Even some developers like Naughty dog are claiming to have maxed out the PS3. If they're getting close to max out the PS3 then the 360 certainly has no hope of improving.

As for the situation considering FM4 vs GT6 I think by the time Turn 10 gets to FM4 they will more then have their hands full to just try and match GT5, perhaps even with next generation hardware. Sort of like how Microsoft went after the PS2 with he 360 instead of the PS3.

In the end your post makes Forza look like its waving the white flag and saying wait until next gen.

To clarify, they said they're finally utilizing 100% of the available cycles on the Cell, as opposed to the 30% they were using on the first game. That doesn't mean the PS3 is "maxed out," but rather, additional improvements will come through code optimization, of which there is still a fair amount to do.

But yes, as a result of being easier to program, the 360 hit its limit much sooner in its life cycle. The director of EA Sports recently said that they had "maxed out" the 360, but there were just beginning to realize the full potential of the PS3.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the point of this thread. All you've done is create a wishlist for GT6 and Forza 4, when we a) don't even know whats in GT5 and Forza 3 and b) we don't even know if there will be a GT6 and Forza 4.
That's all this guy does - create wishlists. He's still upset over what GT5 doesn't include, despite not really knowing what it does.

We will see another generation of GT6 on the PS3. It will take less time to be released because only minor cosmetic enhancements and cars will be new, the rest being straight from GT5. GT4 was the pinnacle of the basic hardware from GT1. GT5 is entirely new from the ground up, on one of the most complicated and technical systems on sale.

Kaz has said that there may not be DLC, so GT5 is GT5 when it's released. And any new content they get will be put into GT6, which may be released at the tail end of the PS3's run. With any luck most of the engine they've made can be recycled onto the PS4 so we don't have to sit around waiting for another 5 years.

I didn't vote because this poll seems only meant to make a flame war.

Well guys, I'm happy to see this thread has provided you with good disscussion points, it was one of it's main goals. 👍

If GT5 is indeed released in spring 2010 then a potential Christmas 2011 GT5 release would mean it would have 1 year and 9 months, not quite 2 years but it was a simple guess as could have been 2012 or 2013. And yes, to just add cars and tracks 1 year and 9 months would not be impossible. 💡 It didn't have to be a point of insult for people like Leonidale and Serversurfer, but Trolls like them will always be part of GTP's forums like a malignant tumour one would find difficult to get rid of. So we have to live with it...

FM3 is definitely outgunned if PD get their stuff together, and it's certainly looking like E3, Gamescom and TGS were the kicks up the backside they needed. You all should thank the critics of GT5 and T10 with FM3 for providing stiff competition because look how PD is raising their game now. It's nothing short of amazing. ;) Had the whole world been like the fanboys and Trolls on GTP, and other GT forums, lapping whatever PD throws at them, there is a good chance GT5 would have used the old tired formula and not simulated realistic collision physics, full damage and rollover.

Still, although FM3 may not match the car grid of GT5 there is a good chance they could implement the other features. I certainly don't think being beaten, if indeed this is what will happen between GT5 and FM3, will make T10 waive a white flag. They'll come back stronger, better and more polished, history has shown this so far. And FM4 on a next generation XBOX console would be mind blowing, considering T10 now has the models we've all seen in the menus of FM3 ready made. A console capable of displaying 10 or 20 of those models on even higher quality tracks than FM3 and even more spectacular damage would be very easy to design today, let alone 2011. This is pure speculation, of course.

Lastly I just want to touch one point discussed earlier int he thread. The fact that a patched special version of FM3, if released on XBOX360, will never be HDD full install only. I'm of the opinion this is more than possible. Why? I believe there are few people nowadays with XBOX Arcade that would buy games like FM3 with the patching, DLC and the fact that FM greatest strength is online and not consider buying a HDD shortly after. Would mean most FM buyers would have a HDD already or buy one just for it. More importantly, there could be another FM3, based mostly on another version of executables, maybe called FM3 Special Edition, that could be run on fully installed versions on FM3. That would be DLC only and obviously not void the MS policy, so the FM3 game, out of the box will still work on an XBOX360 without a HDD. 💡

Posting this kind of thread in the GT5 section, how exactly did you expect the poll to turn out?

Here comes another Troll, fanboy, whatever you want to call it. Needless to say that I could not care less which way the poll would turn out. I respect both games, which is more than I can say for forum members like him, and I actually voted for GT5. :) But if he was clever enough to read the main post properly, he would have known that. But, assuming without reading things correctly seems to suit him more.

Off-Topic: I discussed this with someone via pm recently who told me one of things Trolls do is come on to a thread they have no interest it, do not agree with and do not like the subject. Instead of leaving and ignoring the thread, they'd rather ridicule it's subject and OP. He's absolutely right about some of the ones that have unfortunately graced this thread...

Realistically after GT5 I would like to see PD a take break from GT because if there is one thing a game like Tourist Trophy prove, its the fact PD is more than a one-trick pony.

I probably wouldn't mind that, but after GT6. Tourist Trouphy 2 on PS3 would rock!

Not to turn this into a console war thread or anything but the 360's "limits" were easier to reach due to developer friendly hardware.

Also, the 360's GPU is widely considered better then the PS3's

Then, both consoles "limits" would have been reached a long time ago and it has just been a case of using "tricks of the trade" so to speak to make games look better.

That's right FyreandIce, it's a matter of more coding time, more optimizations, more, well, tricks, as you put it. :)

That plus the option to install the full game on HD and we may just see a higher LOD car model in-game and perhaps even 10+ car grid. All the other features I posted that should be in FM3 or FM4 are just a matter of development time, and not limited by hardware.

God I hate that god damn word. You know what, call me that. I don't care. Sure, I hate Forza (didn't care for any of the first two) so I MUST be a fanboy.

Yes, I'm a GT fan, and yes, I'm a boy.

Go figure.

Troll, hardly. I just know a stupid thread when I see one.

I don't really care about the competition, between GT5-GT6 or FM3-FM4!! Because i only have one console!

what a pointless thread! neither of the games were released and you are already talking about next title of forza and GT!

Forza doesn`t have the Nissan GT-R ... lol !!!

Correct, it's why it's on FM3 or FM4 improvements list. :dopey:

Though as Justin said, they may have found a way around it to include the car in the game already. I have a pretty good idea on how they can do it. Most likely a race car with identical shape with stock model and the option to paint the car. ;)
