GTP_crazytortise Ordered it today, will be here next week 👍

Good man, lets hope there's no matching issues with this one

Incidently, has anyone sussed whether the PAL/NTSC can race together or not?

Yea, PAL and NTSC players can race online together 👍 I found this out yesterday when I raced Mr_V and Zabeu at the ring :)

Nice to hear!

How was lag and other online-racing issues?

Is there chance to take your custom paints to the online-race?

:)Please add me to the list

For those who haven't seen much of the Ring lately .....

I am up to level 50 and feel like I have a decent working knowledge of the game. At first it was great fun and then slowly but surely the typical EA bugs and glitches began to get to me. Maybe someone could confirm these for me ?

1) There are serious frame-rate issues at a couple tracks.
2) There are 2 events (so far) where your car will just simply not leave the starting line. It just sits there revving in gear. Exiting completely out of the Level and re-entering does not change anything. One such event is the Tier 3, Manufacturers Competition, Corvette Z06 Race @ Donnington National. NOTE: I just tried this event again today and it worked !! I had tried it previously 3 or 4 times over a two day period and it didn't work. I can't explain it, but it's still a glitch as far as I'm concerned.
3) The Grid Girls, while shapely and cute, most often stand in the center of my car with their torso protruding out the top of the roof.
4) Some cars @ some tracks bounce like pogo sticks and are undriveable, with the default settings. It takes a great deal of trial and error with the suspension settings to get a car to handle correctly. I guess I will have to experiment some more. The Porsche Carrera @ Spa GT in the Invitational events is an example whereby you do not have the option to adjust any of the settings.

Creating a game whereby you can make some tuning adjustments does not in itself make it a "Sim". This game is in no way a "Racing Sim" as advertised. It is purely an Arcade racer where the cars turn on a central pivot point in the center of the car as arcade racers have for years. It is however, one of EA's better efforts in the NFS series for sometime and still quite fun :)

Just tried the "Balance" fix as described and it does make a major improvement .... many thanks :) Using the "Quick Tune" however, does void any changes you made to the car in "Advanced" settings which were necessary to eliminate the boucing.

Also note:
1) the car that you bring from your garage to an online race will retain all the graphic nuances that you created for it :)
2) My G25 wheel with steering deadzone set to 0 feels like it has about 15% of actual deadzone with 360 or 270 degrees of rotation. Setting this to 15% as suggested creates what actually feels like 30% or about 160 degrees of rotation without any influance on the car's direction :nervous:
3) Setting the Steering sensitivity at 5% as the originator suggested is what apparently causes the steering deadzone to be be accentuated. Returning it to my original 50% and increasing it to 80% greatly reduced the deadzone and helped immensely.

Nice find Andy 👍 I will definitely try adjusting the "balance" setting in the tuning area when I fire up Shift today :) Sounds like it might be a bit of a Eureka find, if it really does improve the oversteer/floaty feeling.

There was absolutely no lag that I could tell of in the few races that I've done online, and that was with people who were on the other side of the world 👍 I've only raced with 2 other people (on track at the same time) at most so I haven't put much demand on the server to this point, but I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of online play over the weekend so I'll report back.

I'm not sure about the being able to bring your custom paint online. I'll check that out today as well :)

Very good news. Also good to hear Zabeu racing in NFS:S. I wondered how long it would take for the really fast racers to show up in NFS:S.

If you have shift you may want to try this http://forums.xbox.com/29123795/ShowPost.aspx

I know it's for x-box but it works on ps3 too, make the game much more like GT handling wise

Definitely don't try this with the G25 wheel! With it setup according to these instructions you don't actually begin to turn the car at all until you've turned the wheel nearly 360 degrees :)

I'm now running my Steering Sensitivity at 100% and it feels quite a bit better than it did at the default 50%.

Just had NFSS for two days now. God how I love to drive the Ring
Damn difficult to overtake ( as it is in real life ), but what a joy...
Finally can drive along the Ring and not putting my own car at risk.

But if one wants to add me, GTP_MobySPD

great to kill a few months waiting on the main event, not a sim but still very enjoyable, please add me and hope to see you on the track
GTP_smudger

Don't dismiss it too quickly. Remember there are a lot of people out there who insist the GT series aren't sims either (and, to be honest, I'm one of those who doubts the current rendition of GT5p is good enough, in terms of physics/feedback, to still be called a sim. I maintain faith that the final release will fix this).

With just a few setting changes NFSS feels and drives very, very much like an updated GT4, which I think everyone on this forum will agree is a "sim", even if a bit long-in-the-tooth. The damage is a joke, and there are a few "game" elements I wish weren't there, but if we talk purely about the driving, I think it is very raw and convincing.

hi guys,
i have been playing shift online and have not been able to find games that are for "professional" settings only players.
it seems that the games i join are not on a fair playing field as most players are using casual arcade setup with auto braking, stability control, etc. while i am on pro setting with all assists off.
is there a way to join only games where everyone is using the same "pro" and no assists setting?

my online id is Mazda3MaxxSports by the way if you want to add me to the list

A bit offtopic I guess, but a question that's popped up.
Can |I copy my own gamesave NFSS data from one PS3 to another one, which had a HD upgrade?
Tried to copy my GT5P gamesave but that isn't possible before the upgrade, so in the end I had to made a normal backup which backsup everything.

I haven't tried but I've heard the the NFS:Shift save is locked and cannot be transferred.

On topic.

It looks like I'll be playing Shift for longer than expected so feel free to add me.

i'm using ID: omDidit

yes i notice the bouncing cars also.. :(

and is there any way to switch control between dualshock and G25 on anywhere in the game?

Add me too. haven't gone online much as i'm trying to get to grips with how different it feels compared to GT.

SAFC2403

cheers

Just an FYI, you might want to check out the other thread regarding NFSS. I've basically got some tips in there on how to make it feel (in my opinion) more realistic and more like GT4/5p. Everyone likes something different of course, but with the settings I've outlined in that thread I can hop in a Porsche or an Elise and run around the ring and it feels very much like a RUF or the Elise in GT4 does on that same track.
