GT5 Quick Tune: ***VERSION 3.1***

That's great, I've been through it with the ZR1 RM and followed what you said and it's making sense to me now. I'll have a play around with some other cars and put it in to practise. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

Regards

Mark

To be more specific, the camber, toe and LSD formulas have been heavily and most noticeably modified. The anti-roll bar output has also changed but the difference is a little less obvious. The formulas for ride height, spring rate, and dampers have been rewritten to reduce rounding errors but in general the output is the same as v2.0. Also, the balance fine tune function effects the LSD when it didn't before.

Hello, had a play today and totally transformed a citroen c4 :) very good work! Just one thing in your sheet it asks for TORQUE (LB-FT), is that the unit that your game has? As my uk gt5 states torque is in Kgfm. Unless I am looking at the wrong thing? Please advise :) itd be super to not have to convert manually.

The torque value is only used in the gear calculations, but you will need to convert it. Very roughly, multiply your kgfm by 7.
The more precise value is 7.2330138723.

Yeah, sorry for the Yank measurement. Maybe in the future I'll add a way to toggle between metric and imperial units, assuming I can find an elegant way of doing so.

Seems there could also be Nm as a third unit of measurement!

Also: It seems weird to me that the game can show torque in ft-lb yet the car's weight is in kg.

Lulz. At least I won't get complaints from Liberia and Burma!

Seriously though, I'll see what I can do to accommodate all three. The kg thing is definitely weird, PD does some strange things sometimes.

I use both version 2 and 3. Some cars seems to tune better with version 2!
Both programs are close tunes with only the need for tweeking rollbars and brakes to suit my driving style.

Just a quick update. After experimenting with the 2.0 physics for a few days I've more or less decided that no formula revisions will be necessary. I've run about two dozen cars with my old settings and all of them feel better than ever. Unless anyone has noticed a major issue with Quick Tune and the new physics I feel content to leave it at that.

On a side note, v3.0 just passed over 400 downloads and less than 2% of users have given any sort of feedback. Either that means the other 98% is completely satisfied with QT or they think it's useless piece of 🤬. Not knowing is driving me nuts, so please help me out here. :D

I am doing most of my tuning with ver3 now and it is workking out very well on most of the cars. Anyways thanks for a great program!! Regards.

I've been using your spreadsheet since v1.1 and I have to say that is is one of the most useful tools I've come across.

However, there are a few things that I noticed you might be able to improve on. I feel that the LSD settings are a little high for my driving style, (this might be due to me using a pad), but maybe allowing user adjustments in 0.5 increments may help. Also, a little more fine tuning to the suspension level setting, maybe being able to select soft, medium, or hard tires (possibly from a dropdown list) would be a nice feature. These are just my opinion and I defer to your expertise, but please at least take them into consideration.

Thank you for making this and I hope this project continues and grows with GT5.

Thanks! 👍

Actually, you can use decimals with the LSD! I've never mentioned it, but it is allowed. I would also like to have a more "open" setting below 1, but the problem is that it would sometimes result in invalid initial and decel values of less than 5. The in-game limits frequently constrict my formulas, and the result is often less adjustment range than both you and I would like.

A good suggestion, and one I've seriously thought about. There's various considerations that go into how stiff a suspension should be, including tires, vehicle weight, type of track, and user preference for starters. Things we don't know, like the height of the center of gravity, are also important. The simple level system was my way of being lazy since I really have no idea how to integrate all these different parameters. I'm also not particularly content with only four level settings, and I tried allowing decimals as with the LSD but there were just too many goofy rounding errors. I'll take a second look and see if I can find some creative way of giving the user more flexibility without turning it into an overwrought mess.
Thank you for making this and I hope this project continues and grows with GT5.

I hope so too.

I would like to say that I use decimals in the suspension range quite often, i usually use 2.5 for sports soft tyres and 3.5 for Racing Soft and I haven't had any problems.

The formulas on version 3.0 work very well for spec 2.0, I almost never tweak after I've used Gt5 Quick tune. thanks opositelock.

That's weird, I can only assume you're using a program other than Open Office and that the validity function isn't working correctly.

I use level 1 for rally cars, though I usually decrease the base camber from 2.0 to 1.0, set both swaybars to 1, and bump up the ride height. I don't alter my settings for rain, mostly out of pure laziness. Maybe just soften up the swaybars a click or two.

Just a quick 👍

I've used V3.0 to dial in the suspension on 5-6 cars now (450pp - 550pp) range for online racing and am very pleased with the results.

Thanks for taking the time develop this. Well done. 👍👍👍

I've only tested a couple of cars but the Quick Tune settings seem to work well with Spec II.

Cheers!

Hi, either I am to dump, the specs in my game doesn't match with yours or your tool is broken.
I can't get your gear settings working. :ouch:

How have you to enter the specs, in which order?

I try to enter the following gear settings for the Nissan SKYLINE GT-R R33 Touring Car (6 speed/AWD):

The problem is for some gears I can't enter the numbers (too low) or I end up with a 450 km/h (280 mp/h) car.

Could anyone please tell me how the heck it works? 💡

No, I haven't checked the whole thread to find the solution on page #8. Maybe relink it on page #1. :sly:

Ok, now this explains a lot but the final gear still doesn't fit by thousands. But I think I am on the right way because the car feels & performs great. :dopey:👍

I tell you what I did:

- changed the top speed from 300 km/h to 340 km/h to get the gear 1 & 5 as close as possible to the recommended settings
- changed the gear ratios for gear 1-6 to the recommended settings
- changed the final gear to the recommended settings (see pic #1)
- because I ended up now with a top speed of 449 km/h, I changed the final gear to 4.696 to get the top speed of 320 km/h (see pic #2)

So what did I wrong? I can't get the final gear not even close to your recommended settings, without ending up with a X2010 top speed. :)

Well yeah, you didn't enter ANY of the info needed to calculate the final drive! You have to fill in ALL the parameters under Optional Vehicle Info. Now since this is an imaginary race car you won't be able to find the tire size online, so you'll have to to set the final using the procedure outlined in the post I linked previously.
