GT5 shooting for a holiday 2009 release.

In a post E3 press conference Q&A Matt Levitan of Sony, had this to say about GT5's release date.

"As for Gran Turismo 5, we haven’t released an official date, but we’re trying to get that out this calendar year, so it could be a holiday game as well. "

Honestly I think Amar's clue about the release date was actually a range. GT5 is targeted to be released either December 2009 or March 2010. I do not think it is going to be as bad as people are predicting. I have a feeling GT5 is one of those games that is going to get hyped the month or even week before its release and then come out. Sony is keeping this one very close to the chest.

I agree about bugs, but I'd rather have half the cars than have to wait until next year :P

I really hope this 2009 date is true, I doubt it though. Most games can't stick to officially released dates, let alone ones mentioned passingly like this one :P

I really wish PD would take an iterative approach to this development where Prologue was expanded upon instead of one large release. Innevitably there will be things missing from the final GT5 - which could be avoided by, I don't know... Talking to the customer base?

I hope this game comes out as soon as possible but people really shouldn't get so hung up on it - there are plenty of other good games out there.

A 2009 release would be SUPERB...but maybe only a dream.
March 2010 looks good for me too!
That's les than a year away.
I'm just looking forward to march 2010. In that way I can't be disappointed,
only very joyful when it comes out around Christmas.
 
Hey here's a great idea PD, reveal 10 cars of the car list every week until the game is about 1 week before being finished. Then we get something good to hold us over until release without putting the whole list out there to get old and stale before the game is released.💡 Well, since we have to wait so long, you know.......

We all want the game this year and Sony according to the first post do as well but this is a GT game and PD are very good at not sticking to release dates.

Well Amar did say he had heard they're in the final stages of GT5's production, maybe with a bunch of factors (some new) they are going to evaluate when to release it.
 
they're trying for a holiday release? Good news--of note is the fact that I'm current trying for billionaire status by age 30--doesn't mean it's going to happen, but I'll release some video of what it might look like.

I really want the gt5 news to be true. honestly I do or I wouldn't be here, but I just don't believe it anymore.
Perhaps Forza 3 has lit a fire under them though.
 
I must say PD has done the right thing this time around.

Back when GT4 was to be released we had tons of screenshots and videos, but it felt like the game was never coming because of the delays, and then when it was released many were dissapointed since they had already seen so much of the content years before it was released, and there were also promised content missing, such as online play. 👎

This time we have seen or heard nothing about GT5. Until yesterday, when that god like trailer was shown and made every fan do in their pants, and a release date within a year! Way to go PD, finally! 👍
 
Toooo be honest, and that's just me, and it won't be the most popular opinion around; I'd prefer if they spent a few more months, and added a bunch of neat features, really fine tuned the game to perfection. A situation I'd much prefer to them releasing the game, and them coming up with excuses like "we didn't have enough time to implement that" or worse "we're working on this cool new feature for the next gran turismo".

I really hope GT5 will bridge the gap.

Well, you don't know what features they've made already. Perhaps the game is almost done and close to perfect? No one knows. ;)
 
At least he didnt say "Fiscal Year".
Cant wait for spring 2010 because either, the game gets finally released OR i have a lot of fun playing it. :D
 
But how do we know there is no neat features? GTM was a surprise tbh not the one I was looking tho, but thank god they give us some love.
The rumors point to dec '09 or March '10, One thing that worries me from the video is the lack of road cars, there were some new mercs but everything else was from GT5P.. even at the start the C4 was 'hiding another car so I went frame by frame only to find it was a golf, also from GT5P! All in tho it was amazing, I have watched it 10+ times : )

Good thing there's something called DLC or downloadable content nowadays... :D This type of stuff shouldnt be a problem... Release it and if they want to add something they can just send out an update...

ya i was just speculating that, every screen is carefully chosen to "announce" details and wat not, so since its clearly Rally Toscana 2009, we are most likely to be racing it in 2009 and not 2KX
 
It's 2006 (on Eiger), I don't think this means anything personally.
