GT5 should let you pick your driver outfit like in Tourist Trophy

I just realized something about GT5.

I wonder if you can change the outfit of the driver like you can in Tourist Trophy. We've already seen the gear in the GT5 Prologue screens.

Gran Turismo could open many new doors for itself by allowing these racing equipment companies advertisement in the game.

Just think, whenever the new stuff is released by Shoei, AGV, Dainese, Arai, or Simpson, you could fit it to your Driver.

Custom Helmets are the rage in all of motor sport and Valentino Rossi's Helmet made an appearance in TT, why not have Senna's, Schumacher's, Hamilton's, and Kimi's Helmet at your buying disposal.

It would be like you have a Tuning Shop for your car, and a racing apparel shop for the gear.

This is something i want for GT5 cause no way it will be on the GT5 Prologue.

That would be a very cool feature. It worked really well and was great fun in TT!

The one thing i'd have some reservations about is the number of "Stigs" there would be because as we all know there is only one Stig!*

*Alright, there are actually 4 at the moment if you include Black Stig and Stigs American and African Cousins

Just with that one statement, You gave advertisement too

1. BBC TopGear
2. Simpsonraceproducts
3. Who ever does Stig's suit.

and there's more money rollin into Polyphony Pockets.

I agree with you that the feature in TT was great but i'd really like it to be done better.

Example: When you look at the helmet you've chosen, i want to see it upsized so it's easier to view and so i can swivel it around and look on all sides. Added to that, the names need to be written better so you can clearly identify the one you want without even looking at the helmet graphics. This goes for suit, gloves, and shoes as well.

True, i did indeed.... The only one i missed out were Alpinestars whose gloves he wears.

But your names are not Stig. I am The Stig. you will bow down, or face the wrath of the killer death Koenignogseggseggseggggabbaseggviking.

its a medium better than any other. Today these companies can only look to Magazines, Very few TV commercials, Racers actually using their stuff, and events where the can show off.

With GT, you open yourself not only to those that actually need to buy the stuff and help with their selection but also those that never would have even considered to a go get the apparel. The network would spread to them telling their friends to check the products out.

It's a online catalog that you play and allot of money could be made.

Oh but you lie, why do you think my name has Speedster in? And 502 convert it to minutes 5:02 is my Ring time...

EDIT: Sorry, I do agree with your idea though, but I can't see the car manufacture agreeing with it, mainly as they got to agree and design their suits for GT5 for the drivers to wear which promotes the manufacture. If someone to buy a custom suit it would no longer be promoting the car manufacture. Also can you imagine how much it would cost to cloth your whole pit crew?

Not entirely, you see the suits not being designed to look like the manufacturer isn't as important as having their car present. If i see a guy standing next to a GT-R with an Arai helmet and Simpson suit, i'd still be looking at the GT-R for car purposes. What i'm trying to say is i don't think the gear will take away from the cars.

Honda,Buell,Yamaha,Kawasaki,Ducati,MV Agusta,Yoshimura,Suzuki,Bimota,BMW

all agreed on this in TT so there's no reason why GT5 would be any different.

True, although I thought the suits might promote their "racing" colours or something like that.

It would be ace to chose your own racing gear, but I think i'll be team outfits. however a helmet design tool would be good, the same tool could be used to add decals to the car.

Yeah it would be nice to choose your own outfit...but i think it might work...like this...if you drive a nissan you wear a nissan outfit...if you drive a ford..you wear a ford outfit and so on..ect as for "gran turismo" speical outfits i can see that being interchangeable

Motominded, that was one of the aspects of GT I was envisioning. Trouble is, most people would put this down since you don't see the driver very much. I'd personally love to have my own Sparco racing suit adorned in a beautiful blue racing suit with gold accents (think the University of West Virginia and University of California athletics teams for the blue and gold combination I'm envisioning). I am an absolute supporter of this. However, I think PD wants it so that the outfits we wear are manufacturer-specific. That's the order for GT5. However, don't rule out the possibility of being able to do this in GT5. In the meanwhile, the driver in your game is your own personal Stig, only you don't have to listen to self-help audio CD programs like The Stig. ^_^

I would love to sport the colors of someone I idolize:

You know, i was gonna say problems with F1 sponcers that have nothing to do with GT make that a problem, but now that i've seen the Ferrari F2007, I think this is more than possible.

P.s. Imagine Lewis Hmailton driving the Ferrari F2007, how strange would that be?

Note: I said the colors, not the sponsors. Besides I doubt that you will be able to pick your own colors/sponsors while driving a official licensed FIA, JGTC or any racecar for that matter.

I think JohnBM01 brought this up last year, and I agree it's a marvelous idea. Personalization in every way? Why not? This will be particularly cool if you can pose your driver next to your car for Photomode.

Which brings up a related aspect, being able to define your driver's body like all the MMORPGs do. Take off your helmet to see your driver's face as he/she poses next to your well tuned ride. Seriously, and it should be fairly easy to do.

Off Topic: By the way Hamilton just got a flawless win in todays season opener (Australian Grand Prix). No Ferraris finished the race, for the first time in 16years Ferrari gained a single point.

Just in from F1.com

Barrichello disqualified, Raikkonen gains a point

Honda’s Rubens Barrichello has been disqualified from sixth place in the Australian Grand Prix. Barrichello was penalised by stewards for exiting the pits under a red light. It means Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen moves up to eighth place and hence scores a point.

The penalty brought a sad end to what had been an eventful afternoon for Barrichello. After putting in a performance far stronger than anyone had predicted in the RA108, the Brazilian fell victim to unlucky timing when he was forced to pit for fuel under the safety car.

Not only did that infringement earn him a ten-second stop-go penalty, Barrichello also managed to drag over a mechanic as he left his box before the refuelling man had removed the hose from the car. He then rejoined the race, despite the red light at the end of the pit lane, a move which ultimately saw him excluded from the result

"Shortly after we called Rubens in for the second of two planned pit stops, Timo Glock had a crash and the safety car was deployed,” explained team principal Ross Brawn. “We had no alternative but to continue to bring him in because he was out of fuel, although we realised that the pit lane was going to be closed due to the safety car and that this would result in a ten-second stop-go penalty.

“During the pit stop the lollipop was lifted just a fraction early while the fuel hose was just coming off the car. After the pit stop Rubens exited the pit lane when the lights were still red and obviously this is in breach of the regulations. A tough set of circumstances after an otherwise very committed drive by Rubens."

Barrichello’s disqualification means Williams’ Kazuki Nakajima moves up to sixth place, while Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Bourdais is promoted to seventh, despite not finishing the race.
