i agree you should be able to pick your driver's gear.

another thing that's been bugging me about the Gran Turismo series is that they have so many japanese and european cars, but they don't have may US cars, and they have racecars from the JGTC, D1GP, FIA GT, WTCC, and ONE ALMS car. do they not respect American motorsports? where's NASCAR in here NO WHERE! :grumpy: some of the best racecar drivers the world raced in NASCAR. i mean, seriously, would it kill them to have one car model for each make and a few different paint jobs.

sorry if this was a little off topic but this has always bugged me.

Very true. I think the majority dont really care for NASCAR or circle track racing which is why they dont really get involved. I myself would like to see more SCCA licensed vehicles, but I wouldnt be bothered if the kept things the way they are when it come to the leagues.

To be honest id love to see more ALMS and Grand Am cars.. Even a CART machine to compare to an F1 car.

Besides that from the U.S., Forza did a good job getting cars from the SCCA and GT should follow. That Real-Time NSX from Peter Cunningham was the awesome.

Also stuff from SCORE off road. I think off road racing should really step it's foot into the game as well as WRC rally cars from group B and also all the RAID machines that contest the Dakar.

On a final note. GT2 had Pikes Peak.......WHAT HAPPEND?

Sorry bro, I hate Nascar.... Never wanted Nascar in GT....It just wouldn't fit in.

LOL, Well stated.

Since the news that the Ferrari F207 will be in GT5:P, and the fact that you can select which number car you want (5 for Kimi & 6 for Felipe), will their race helmets be replicated or will the default GT ones be present?

motominded is right, NASCAR wouldn't fit now that i think about it. in my opinion this game seems to be focused (in terms of the racing series included) on the european and japanese markets, but that's just me

i would be interested to know what people from outside the US think of NASCAR. they say they broadcasted the daytona 500 in over 50 countries. as someone who likes NASCAR i think european touring car racing with the exeption of DTM is 🤬. the racing is awful they just drive around the track for a set number of laps, there's no action like NASCAR

no one gives a 🤬 about rally racing, but i have to admit that being from colorado where the pike's peak hill climb is that's pretty cool

Actually I love WRC and I wish they would broadcast DTM more. I think the people that are interested in NASCAR are waiting for the crashes, destruction, and drama. I believe the rest of the world would rather not watch a bunch of rednecks (no direspect) drive around in circles for 2hrs just to anticipate a wreck or to guys scuffling with each other. I dont think theres anything really impressive about a stock-car. Also WRC and DTM are considerably more advance, not to mention that the WRC cars originate from factory vehicles that people can buy from a dealer and drive on the daily bases, which is extremely apealling. Purchasing a 206 RC, EVO, or STI and watching some of the worlds greatest drivers take these things to the edge of the world would make me feel like my money is well spent. It also has a lot to do with culture spectators watching a driver that is from there country or city and sporting there flag just adds on to the enthusiasm.

Not necessarily. With the advent of cars like the Corvette C5R and other cars from American series, the game is about road racing as a whole. My original post was to let people know that there are many more variety of cars that GT needs to dive into. I played some more Forza 2 today and i feel in terms of cars.....GT has a mountain to climb. Now don't say GT has no oval tracks. GT has always had oval racing. But they should send a team to Talladega in Alabama and someone to Lausitzring in Germany. Again Oval racing as a type is fine, but Nascar.....No.

That's an ignorant statement. You've obviously never watched the British Touring Car Championship from the mid to late 90's. That had to be some of the best racing ever. During it's heyday, it popularity rivaled F1.

Here's a demonstration of World Champion Nigel Mansell first drive.

BTCC Donington '98: Nigel Mansell shows them how it's done!

I'll just go ahead and tell you, im a racing die hard but i cant stand to watch Nascar or oval racing as a whole, fighting through chicanes and out braking maneuvers into hairpins are much more exciting than bump drafting will ever be.
But that's my personal opinion and you gotta understand that your view on Nascar is just yours. There are quite a few people that have the same view of Nascar as i have.

No one gives a 🤬 about rally racing? And exactly what group of people did you survey to come up with that result? The redneck infield at the Daytona 500?

Why do you think rally racing made it's first appearance in GT more than ten years ago. Why is the WRC championship on of the highest prizes in all of motorsport? Why do companies like.....

Citroen, Lancia, Renault, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Audi, Opel, Ford, Talbot, Subaru, Porsche, Saab, Peugeot, Fiat, VW, Rover, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and many others have storied history in Rally Racing in all it's forms?

You say no one gives a **** about rally racing? Why do people travel for hundred of miles to stand in a wood to watch Rally cars go by?

Seriously, i can understand you trying to defend a sport you like. But talking down about rally racing makes you look less intelligent. Subaru who has basically made it's performance division from Rally racing as well as having it's premier car (The STI) come from Rally Sport. Subaru is also working with the SCCA. They have a premier team in the US scca rally championship. It has even crossed over to the X games as Colin Mcrae (R.I.P.) and Travis Prastrana are some of the best drivers.

If you really think that Nascar is as great as you say it is, more power to ya. I on the otherhand have my own ideas and impressions and one of them is to not agree with you.

LMAO @ Redneck infield... Cant forget the Comaro racecar in GT3, I dont remember if its in GT4. But well stated Moto.👍 Correct me if im wrong but I believe rally racing was the first official organized form of racing and its were the FIA made its mark.

no one gives a 🤬 about rally racing.
Speak for your self. Not everyone is as narrow minded as you obviously are.

Can we get back on topic?
I would be satisfied with just a few available schemes, but you pick the colors. You have a few different patterns to choose from and pick the colors for each part of the design.

You know what.... Absolutely... Get back to your opinions on original topic.

:Thumbs up: To MINICOOPER120

This exact suit is on my list of things to buy, so it would be pretty sweet to have it or a similar suit in the game.

My helmet will be a solid white Arai, later on I will get it personalized via airbrush

:guilty: i'm sorry if i have offended you i'm in kind of a bad mood today, but i have watched the british touring cars on Speed channel and it's recent '06 or '07. it was 2007 when i saw some of it so it was the current season. but my impression might be based on Speed fitting a whole race into one hour of TV time (it's not live). i've always wondered how it goes from 30 to go to 9 to go in the time it takes me to get a snack or something (about 2 minutes)

I've never been to a rally i've only seen it on tv it might be more interesting in person. the X games rally event is the best one i've seen on tv.

My sincerest apologies, :guilty:

P.S. for some reason i don't find touring car racing very interesting, i don't know why. is it the lack of action most not all of the time?

to each their own, i suppose

what do you mean gt has a mountain to climb, i don't quite get what you're saying there. GT5 already has Daytona oval and road course, i give them credit for that. now, in all seriousness i'd like to know what keeps the ALMS going (going to this because you mentioned the C5R). i watched the 12 hours of sebring, there were exactly 5 P1 cars, about 15 P2 cars, 3 or 4 GT1 cars and between 15 and 20 GT2 cars, GRAND TOTAL = at most, 44 cars

i'm not trying to be narrow minded like before i'm just saying for a race that's supposed to be one of the most pretigous enduros in the world(says Speed channel) that's not many cars

When i typically refer to GT5.....I refer to the 2009 (maybe) final product.

I'm excited about prologue just as much as everyone else but im not spending the $2000+ for the PS3 + GT5 + G25 + 1080P TV + HD AUDIO system till the real thing.

Ill spend this year upgrading my car or get a CBR600RR.

Here's the "Mountain to climb" for GT.

Tracks

Even though Gt has done well with it's selection of tracks....

Circuit de La Sarthe I
Circuit de La Sarthe II
Circuit de Valencia
Daytona International Speedway Superspeedway
Daytona International Speedway The Road Course
Fuji Speedway 2005
Fuji Speedway 2005 GT
Fuji Speedway 80's
Fuji Speedway 90's
Fuji Speedway F
Infineon Raceway Sport Car Course
Infineon Raceway Stock Car Course
Laguna Seca Raceway
Nürburgring Nordschleife
Suzuka Circuit
Suzuka Circuit East Course
Suzuka Circuit West Course
Tsukuba Circuit
Tsukuba Circuit (wet)
Twin Ring Motegi East Short Course
Twin Ring Motegi Road Course
Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway
Twin Ring Motegi West Short Course

Lets look at one from Forza 2 that are too important to be missed out.

# Mugello Autodromo Internazionale
# Nürburgring Nordschleife
# Road Atlanta
# Sebring International Raceway
# Silverstone Circuit
# Road America (as DLC)

These are some of the most important race tracks in the world. Some of the greatest auto races take place there and to miss out on them is just horrible. (Richard Hammond from top gear if you caught that last line)

Cars

On the side of cars. GT has done this well for years and even though they never disappoint with what you do get, it hurts to know what you dont......Even what you lost!

Forza 2 cars that....well...Yeah... they are important enough to have to be in GT5.

1. Ferrari (Yes i know...but will it be as diverse as in Forza 2?)
2. Lamborghini
3. Porsche
4. BMW (No a respectable list)
5. Koenigsegg
6. McLaren

Lost cars

Now i want to shift the focus to what we lose with each installment of GT. Some ver important cars.

Look at GT2's car list of 650 from which we lost some of my favorites like the JTCC, JGTC, Super Silhouette, and many others.

I want to say im a huge fan of both GT5 and Forza 2....Im not a fanboy of either. I do feel that both have good features that each could use of each other to improve their product. What i wrote is a minor breakdown of what i feel GT5 will need to be considered a big step forward for the Race Sim genre.

Oh there's alot more to say from me but i'll save that for another thread.

*Fingers Hurt*

Um have you actually seen Sebring? 44 cars around sebring is actually quiet alot....theres traffic on every lap especially with the fact there are cars of different speeds in your way. I love it. Endurance racing is more than a sport, it's the highest test of a man. For 24 hours you dedicate yourself to an automobile or a Motorbike. Those 3:00 Am stints..... it's the reason as a kid i'd watching SPEEDVISION have their flag to flag coverage at LeMans. I'd watch the entire race.

*Good Memories*

the 24 doesn't have flag to flag coverage anymore. well for me out in colorado, USA. coverage goes 8AM to about 1 or 2PM then next day 6AM to finish about 10AM. colorado is 2 hours behind the east coast time zone WISE :sly: (inside joke, ask motominded).

ok random question: if you didn't have any of the newest systems and you only had enough money for one which one would you buy? i want a PS3 for GT5 but i see no other games at the moment i like is that worth the $400 - $600 for one game?

2 random pics you might like i think they are funny
