I would like to add something, some games like COD boII and gt5 are slow to begin with.

In the case of gt5, it's gotten slower for some reason. I think it has something to do with either sony or pd, not the ps3 system in itself.
GT5 is actually a hundred times faster than at the beginning.

Get the original GT5 game (not the academy, xl or whatever) and then reinstall the gamedata without any patches - sloooooooooow.
Who in there right mind would play GT5 from version 1? HDD speed makes a difference too.
Honestly, you really don't get why I said that?

2 things. Clean the GT5 disc, install a better HD (used a 500GB WD and it's mad fast, although others have used SSD's). That should do it.

I have an SSD, such an awesome investment, although without a direct comparison ps3 using a standard HDD right next to you it's hard to see past the speed and not notice it. Everything is top notch, exporting pictures to the XMB is the biggest teller of the speed. Click and its done, no matter what file size, I seem to remember a second or so passing when doing this previously, could be wrong.

(super slim with 120GB SSD)
