I am thinking about some automated transcription of the UCD using gimx (game input multiplexer). This is a piece of software which allows a computer with a compatible bluetooth dongle to input commands (keypresses) to the PS3 just like a sixaxxis does.
I am thinking about looping a script which enters a race, goes back to the UCD and then uses a webcam or something to take a "screenshot" of the UCD just like other users have done.
To carry things to extremes, theres also the option to take a screenshot of every single car (per day). This would preserve the color information and other things. These images may be processed using some OCR software. As we know all the specific manufacturers and car names + color names, there should be little room for error. Just some thoughts which were spinning in my mind today. I'll get back to it when I have all standard cars.

Holy 🤬 that would be VERY impressive if you pull this off. I had fantasized about such a system, not knowing it was actually doable.

I could help you complete your collection of standard cars if that will get you started sooner on that amazing project! Just send an FR to segovia63 and PM me a list of what cars you're missing, I can gift you one per day.

Arrived at day 1558 in ML#1, still 66 cars left needed from the UCD (just got the trophy for my 1000th car!), but will only buy 65 more, since the R8 LMS Race Car '09 I'll win from the 4H of the Nurburgring... :)

35 cars will appear before 'the gap' in ML#1 (day 1724), 8 cars have been reported beyond day 2500 through day 3300 (from the fragmented data) and 22 cars I need have not been logged in ML#1 beyond day 1723, but probably are somewhere around 2000-2500 by my reckoning and looking at the maximum delay in appearances of ML#2 and using the same numbers on ML#1. :)

Still around 15M credits on my account currently and only will be needing this for the 2J and the Sauber C9, all other cars are (well) below 2M credits. :)

So, I've been away from GT5 and GTP for a while playing other games, but I've started playing again the other day.

According to gt5cars.net, I am poised on the brink of a gap in the data of the UCD list. Would it be worthwhile me taking note of what comes up? I'm not sure how much impetus there is in this whole thing anymore, and whether anyone is bothered :P

segovia / CLIBBY / TornadoAlley / Duck, what is the fastest way to enter new entries for the lists?

Does any of you have a spreadsheet for that or anything? Approaching day 1720 of ML#1 so might want to start logging the cars in the UCD from now on... :)

Is there a way of finding out which cars you do not have, I have 1030 cars in total, quite a few duplicates but not sure whats missing from my collection, any ideas?

I use (ML2) an offline Libreoffice/Openoffice template, which permits me to enter abbreviated names and automatically translates to the correct name. Also I have to enter only km and automatically calculates price. After some days I copy/paste to an online google document which I use to share data with TornadoAlley.
I can share with you the offline sheet, but you need a google account to start an online sheet on your own (it's easier than drink a beer).
To work on ML1, it's better if you contact segovia who may have already collected data after day 1720, still not uploaded by Tornado.

I don't know what you mean with 'cars you do not have'. If you are intereste in models, the best option is sign up with mygranturismo.net and mark the cars you have. If you are looking for version of cars, check the GT5 car catalogue in my signature ;)

Garbuckle's matrix is also a great tool for keeping track of your car collection (pinned in either the GT5 or the Q&A forum, I forget). But as Duck says, if you want to also keep track of your cars' colours, then his own catalogue is the way to go.

I just wanted to add my name to the list of people who think this whole UCD tracking thing is :expletive: cool. All involved in the tracking have my profound respect. As an Excel/data freak, I can only gape in awe. Now I know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall, er... UCD cycles it will take to get my 2J. Many thanks.

I don't know if it actually will work out the way I thought about it. I think I have totally underestimated the whole OCR part. The other tasks (cycling the UCD and capturing an image) should be easy going.

Thanks for your offer, but I completed my standard cars collection yesterday.
Unfortunately, there were some untradable cars among them so I decided to cycle on. I think all in all, I needed at least 1200 days (if not more) to complete my collection. I have processed to day 2850 (or so) at the weekend. As I didn't want to cycle another 1000 days for the last car to show up , I've created another account and cycled 60 days there and finally got the last missing car 👍.

So you may understand that I don't want to see any UCD screen for the next two weeks or so. I have to get back to a level where I have fun when firing up GT5 (which is not the case when you're just cycling the UCD for 1000+ days in fast forward :ill: ). I will complete my premium collection now (with that rewarding B-Spec event at spa) and have some fun back at racing and testing cars..

I will get back to my idea in two weeks or so :)

By the way, I have seen disurbing things in ML#1 in the big gap. At some point (I think between 2200 and 2300) there were a lot of FGTs. At least 3 or 4. After that, they got very rare again.
The more I progressed on, the more "double features" I have seen (recalling memory):
- two ARTA NSX in two days
- two Jaguar XJR-9 in 4 days
- two Impreza Rally Car Prototype in two days
but the worst was:
- two MB Sauber C9 in ONE day

And this was just for cars poking directly into my eyes..

ML1 is definitely due some more FGTs  !

If it wasn't for the OCD, there would have been a lot of people trading in the game, as they wouldn't be able to advance through A- or B-spec before GT6 comes out :P
Think the first FGT in ML1 appears about day 1600 or so :dunce: A casual player would take quite a while to reach that (I myself am only around that game-day now, and I've been playing daily since launch day, and for multiple hours some (most :P) days...).

Someone at PD must have realised eventually though, as the FGT never seems to leave OCD now :D

Good to know there's FGTs coming up quatchskopp, might give us (me :scared:) impetus to push forward logging ML1 again !

wow, I'd take a break too if I had cars poking directing into my eyes :scared:
out of context? homey don't think so :guilty:

Strange thing. I remember cycling the UCD back then when I needed the FGT for the A-Spec event 3 or 4 times and it appeared. Must have been way before day 1600.. I definitely remember getting it from the UCD. I think the OCD was not up back then.. So the question is, did PD change the algorithm of the UCD at some time (don't think so as I relied on it getting my last needed UCD car) or is there an error in ML#1 or am I nuts right now? I guess I don't wanna know :ouch:

👍

Besides that, is there anyone here sitting on ML#2 who is familiar with Ubuntu/Linux at all? If I ever get my thoughts about automatic processing the UCD up and running, I want to share my knowledge :)

I'm on ML#2, but I have unfortunately no post-80's computer language experience. No help there. I would be interested in a UCD auto-cycling scheme tho, as I'm several cycles away from the 2D and 2J, which would complete my big money car collection. Sad to say I'm considering doing some X1 "rubber banding" just to get my UCD moving.

I can remember going nuts trying to get hold of an FGT to do the championship... it's what finally pushed me towards the online part of the game though, so some good came out of it :D

The list shows day 1583 as first appearance on ML1 lol :yuck: That's pretty much where I am now haha. (I don't fast-track days like some guys do, just taking life as it comes while playing online. Though I'm slowly progressing a secondary account for ucd purposes...)

Sorry if this is a waste of information, but I've confirmed that a friend/fellow-gamer, who's on gameday 5145 in GT5, is not on either ML#1 or #2. If the list does loop, it must be after that. Again, sorry if this is redundant.

Neither list goes that far yet, but he must have started on one of those 2 lists. Since he's in uncharted territory, would he be interested in contributing?

I completely agree... he undoubtedly started on one of the lists but has progressed past the tracking, as you said. I'll ask if he wants to contribute. Now that he has 1000+ in the garage my guess is that he wouldn't want to put in the time. To say that he was impressed with the undertaking is an understatement for sure. Of all the tips/tricks/resources out the for acquiring cars, tracking the UCD like this is the end-all-beat-all in my book.

There definitely is a Formula Gran Turismo before day 1600 for ML#1!

I found these lists when I was at game day 1200 on ML#1 (now at 1750), but had a FGT long before day 1200! That was before the OCD was in the game and I actually had to get one to be able to compete in the FGT-series. My roommate was cycling the UCD for hours at a time back then until I finally got one (blue one)... :D Few months later they made it available in the OCD, hilarious... *cough* ;)

Am almost and the 'end' of ML#1, but probably will be making pics of the UCD beyond this day, so they can be logged later on. Will not be logging them as I cycle the UCD, since I definitely want to get my hands on some more cars before the B-spec seasonals end, so need some good pace while cycling the UCD... :D

That might have been when it was still possible to trade FGT's and other cars worth a million dollars and more.

One other possibility: Your offset to list #1 is negative, i.e., you would have seen it before the recorded start of list #1. Have you determined yet what your offset is? (Assuming you're still using the same console you had back then.)

I bought it directly from the UCD, so no trading whatsoever...

In fact I do not own any traded car, just gifted a VW Golf I '76 to one of my friends, since he owns one IRL... :D

And also I progressed naturally through the game (did all the licences first, then the special events, while playing A-spec 'in order'). Then needed the FGT to compete in the FGT-cup I just unlocked and had to cycle the UCD for ages for one to show up.

My offset is ~ 8 days or so I believe, nothing special. And if I were to have a negative offset it should have been huge or I should have acquired the FGT really early in the game.

Will look at my offset exactly this evening and can have a look at the 'order' of purchase of the FGT to see whether I bought some other UCD cars at that time.

i belive it relates to what suit you chose at the beggining of the game. on the same ps3, if you select the same suit, even on diff accounts, you get the same starting set. if you chose a diff suit, a diff set appears... i have not tried this on other ps3's though

Unfortunately, this was disproved by page 2 or 3 of this thread - suit makes no difference to the starting list / location... would've been nice lol :)

The list (and where you start on it) is the same for all accounts on a particular PS3.

I figured I could help a little with this list.
As I understand, a new game on the same machine, with the same disk should give the same list as the original game?
In that case I figured out I'm on ML#1 with a 68days +1 car offset. (my first car in the UCD was listed as number 404 on ML#1.)
On my regular save I'm currently around day 2300, but will collect a couple of more cars before I post it here ;)

A comment regarding the offset.

The beginning of each list was set solely by looking at all of the contributors lists that I had their first days and finding the earliest start point. It is very possible that there is someone out there who starts before either ML#1 or #2. The largest offset I have marked in my lists is about 50 days.

With regard to the FGT that was mentioned a few posts ago. The only way that could have been obtained before day ~1500 on ML#1 was either through an early trade or an entry error in ML#1 that would have it appearing earlier in the cycle.

Here are 40 days worth of cars, enough for today for me but will work with this during the weekend.
It should slot in nicely starting from car 13427 on ML#1

Had a problem when I tried to use your search function to find my start date. It just said it couldn't find any, when clearly it should fit. (might be because I'm not on a full day offset.)
