Grows on you again don't you mean? I find it slightly rediculous still that you only now suddenly hate GT5P's physics when way back in August you claimed you had US and Japanese versions and were having trouble finding decent drivers online. How does that work? Did you not play it all that time?

These constant whinging threads about GT5:P are getting to me, can't they all be locked from now on?

dont read them then, its good to vent..!!

im feeling the exact same way, its a joke..i know its prolouge..bla bla, but PD just aint listening to the fans. It would take very little out of their GT5 development schedule to give private rooms, decent online features.

I feel exploited by PD and Sony in general since the release of the PS3 (i got a JPN import the week of release), its been an exercise in 'potential' since day 1, and unfortunately not much of it has been realised. :yuck:

How so? You knew what you were buying, they didn't hide it or put false things on the cover, on their sites, infact when you bought the JPN import version they never even said they will ever update it except on the 25th December 2007 to enable online play.

The main factor here is that GT5P should not have been produced until the beggining of this year. The reason i say this is because we have all
played this game now for nearly a year and with all the updates that only seem to give us different event challenges really dont seem to be challenging at all but just annoying with all the cheating by the corner cutter's and Punter's.

This mode of GT5 is just to get our info for new ideas that will be implemented into the new GT Series. But there are a lot of things that PD have left out and basically will not be worked out until the full game is released. With that said, all the speculation into what will be.... might be in the full game and might not be. All everyone has to remember is that no matter what we say or want they will relaese the game when they want to and put what they want in the game. But that's not to say that most of what we want wont be in the game, it just might not be how most of us imagine it to be.

There will always be dissapointment when it comes to this particular game as those of us who are big enthusiasts of vehicles and Race vehicles will always want something exclusive just for our own tastes. But please remember that GT5P IS JUST A DEMO AND CANNOT BE CHANGED FROM WHAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY DEVELOPED FOR.

Damn, why can't they just leave a little mention about those reverse lights, I mean seriously, PD just don't tell us any of the juicy stuff. :grumpy:
[/sarcasm]

Honestly, the main thing that surprises me is the number of people who just ignored the Prologue bit and assumed the game was GT5. Its crazy.

In direct response to the thread title (didn't even bother reading the OP because I'm sure I've probably read it all before):

Ok.

most people should look at it a differnt way. GTP is so good that it is often considered a full game by most people outside of the GT circle. There are not that many full games that offer 70 cars. Rest assured there is no game in the world beside Gran Turismo that has offered the chance for you to progess through the game and get a chance to race in a real 24 hour endurance race for a real race team.

I just got my DFGT, and it has renewed my enthusiasm for GT5P. Arcade races are all the more fun, racing against a full field of cars with a high AI settings gets you right into the thick of it. If you thought GT5P was a great sim with a controller, you'll be blown away racing with a good wheel. And the more I race with the wheel the less I miss not having damage in GT5P. Good drivers don't crash. Watching replays you can see the difference between driving with a controller, and a wheel. And the level of control you get with a set of pedals and a wheel, really give you an appreciation of just how good this game (demo) is.

i've lost a lot of enthusiasm in GT, i like the physics taking a more realistic direction (in this day and age they'd be stupid not to though...)

I just feel the cars have no feedback, feels like they are on ice, cant feel the grip at all, ffb is lacking, i find corner exit especially "icy".

i do play lfs & rfactor, im not asking for physics on par with pc sims, also other simulation features such as advanced tyre/temp models, damage, weather etc im not so interested in. just want the cars to feel like they are attached to a road.

also somewhat confused with the 900 degrees steering, as the amount of turn needed is usually minimal and any more give great oversteer with most cars.

i'm not an amazing driver so perhaps it's just me.

This guy will be revived several months after being pronounced dead. It will be the a medical miracle... that or GT Zombies

I've never heard a more opposite opinion of GT5P. I've raced Formula Fords, and I'd have to say GT5P is the closest thing to being on the track that I've experienced. Admittedly I haven't driven PC sims, I really can't justify spending thousands of dollars for a virtual racing experience, but for someone to say GT5P feels like driving on ice, is just unimaginable, IMHO. When does anyone use the full steering lock-to-lock on their own car? Either when you're spinning out of control, or parking.

I agree..recently got back into rFactor and its head and shoulders above GT in terms of 'feel' and enjoyment.

@ Motzcopf..you dont have to spend thousands, If you have the wheel you can build/buy a PC to run rFactor at a decent quality for the price of a PS3. Ive just managed it for £80.! Cheap enough to use it as a dedicated rFactor machine :)

 Are you serious ?? Even the best drivers do mistakes, just not as often.. Damage should have bin in GT series a long time ago.

I agree completely. Maybe they're referring to how the street cars bog in turns or something.

Frankly, even in GT4, I "felt" a very similar racing experience from my real life Supra to the Supra in the game. I could sort of understand what they're saying if they weren't racing in other games, even PC sims, because my experience going from GTR Evo to Prologue was remarkably similar. The very brief time that my DF Pro wheel was still alive with rFactor wasn't satisfying at all, but then I was getting lost in the very stupidly designed user interface, and had trouble finding a driver cam I was comfy with. When my new PC arrives Friday - which had better damn well NOT eat my new DFGT - I'll give rFactor a fair shake, when I get the darn thing sorted out. But I sincerely doubt any game will wow me as much as GT5, or even Prologue.

Well, yea, that was a little exaggerated. But I can race ten's of races in GT5P with no crashes, or major collisions in arcade mode, and the absence of damage doesn't affect my enjoyment at all.

Do I want damage? Well yea. But how does its absence from GT5P kill the GT series? It has never been part of the GT series, nor has it been the reason for its success.

I would want to have time-of-day and weather effects, long before damage.

That's SWEET! Can you send me the spec's in a PM??

THX!

*sigh*... please don't double post... and I would like to know the specs on that PC as well... i doubt 80 quid could do it... but I am interested in how it could...

A smart racer crash very little because he know when to make risk and when to hold back, but there are times you want/need too make a big risk online.and that moment would have bin more scary with damage 👍

What about nurburgring, you are always in control of you car there? Damage whould give a new dimension to that track in my opinion :dopey:

I hate some things about GT5.

I hate that on the S class and dealership races they allow penalties for someone slamming into you. I understand that if you slam into them it is a penalty, but the other is BS.

I hate that they bunch the cars up at Suzuka on S class and allow them to bump you at will. Of course this causes penalties. Then they want you to use a F-40 to win in one damn lap while starting in last place.

I say in S Class get rid of the penalties and make the AI cars better. Rubbing is racing get over it. yes there is a difference between rubbing and slamming into a car. I do not suggest allowing slamming into a car.

In a way my disappointment started with GT4. The lack of reverse lights, 3D spectators, skidmarks, drag strips and damage was very disappointing. Especially with all the delays and the broken promises. But I woke up and learned to read through the BS that KY feeds us in his interviews and be a lot more pragmatic about what to expect out of the next GT game. At this rate at which features wanted by GT fans make it into the game, maybe, I'll have damage in a GT game when I'm 50.:(

Still GT5P has not killed the series for me. Looking at the cars and how beautiful they are and so many cars on track at the same time is pretty cool. Plus those great replays in HD. No, the GT series is not dead for me. It's a great demo game, great to look at and imagine what it could be, but not that fun to play... Maybe one day it will be. I can only dream of "GRID" - like collisions and damage, "Need For Speed Pro Street" - like particle effects, "GTHD" pit stops, "Forza Motorsport 2" - like livery editors and of course "GT5P" cars. But still, at this point it's just dreaming. We'll see if the big daddy of all driving game franchises can actually live up to it's status in GT5. I certainly hope so.:)
