Thanks for all the nputs guys and reminding me that this is just a huge demo. Here is hoping that everything growson me..
These constant whinging threads about GT5 are getting to me, can't they all be locked from now on?
I feel exploited by PD and Sony in general since the release of the PS3 (i got a JPN import the week of release), its been an exercise in 'potential' since day 1, and unfortunately not much of it has been realised.
i've lost a lot of enthusiasm in GT, i like the physics taking a more realistic direction (in this day and age they'd be stupid not to though...)
I just feel the cars have no feedback, feels like they are on ice, cant feel the grip at all, ffb is lacking, i find corner exit especially "icy".
i do play lfs & rfactor, im not asking for physics on par with pc sims, also other simulation features such as advanced tyre/temp models, damage, weather etc im not so interested in. just want the cars to feel like they are attached to a road.
also somewhat confused with the 900 degrees steering, as the amount of turn needed is usually minimal and any more give great oversteer with most cars.
i'm not an amazing driver so perhaps it's just me.
I just got my DFGT, and it has renewed my enthusiasm for GT5P. Arcade races are all the more fun, racing against a full field of cars with a high AI settings gets you right into the thick of it. If you thought GT5P was a great sim with a controller, you'll be blown away racing with a good wheel. And the more I race with the wheel the less I miss not having damage in GT5P. Good drivers don't crash. Watching replays you can see the difference between driving with a controller, and a wheel. And the level of control you get with a set of pedals and a wheel, really give you an appreciation of just how good this game (demo) is.
I agree completely. Maybe they're referring to how the street cars bog in turns or something.I've never heard a more opposite opinion of GT5P. I've raced Formula Fords, and I'd have to say GT5P is the closest thing to being on the track that I've experienced. Admittedly I haven't driven PC sims, I really can't justify spending thousands of dollars for a virtual racing experience, but for someone to say GT5P feels like driving on ice, is just unimaginable, IMHO. When does anyone use the full steering lock-to-lock on their own car? Either when you're spinning out of control, or parking.
Are you serious ?? Even the best drivers do mistakes, just not as often.. Damage should have bin in GT series a long time ago.
I agree..recently got back into rFactor and its head and shoulders above GT in terms of 'feel' and enjoyment.
@ Motzcopf..you dont have to spend thousands, If you have the wheel you can build/buy a PC to run rFactor at a decent quality for the price of a PS3. Ive just managed it for £80.! Cheap enough to use it as a dedicated rFactor machine
Well, yea, that was a little exaggerated. But I can race ten's of races in GT5P with no crashes, or major collisions in arcade mode, and the absence of damage doesn't affect my enjoyment at all.
Do I want damage? Well yea. But how does its absence from GT5P kill the GT series? It has never been part of the GT series, nor has it been the reason for its success.
I would want to have time-of-day and weather effects, long before damage.
