GT6 Master Car List [NOT A WISHLIST]

When Mercedes tweeted "but other AMG models will be in the game" I assume they meant the ones which we already have i.e. C63, SLS, plus the old standards of course  BS, I would rather have seen these two as opposed to that stupid Lunar Roving POS and another SLS.

Sometimes, I really wonder what those programmers at PD and Kaz are thinking when they put together a car list.

if you watching the top gear uk, you will remember the SLS hybrid edition, that car was amazing to me, but I don't think PD will put that car on gt6 :(

Just starting out here after a long stint in the Forza Forums.

I realize that the GT6 car list is far from perfect, but I have to admit it is way better than FM5's. I'm brand new to Gran Turismo, so I don't know how much you guys are losing from GT5, but I would be thankful for what you do have. PD's approach is unorthodox and sometimes controversial, but you're not losing 400+ cars for no discernable reason.

Also, does this forum normally eat letters? It's very difficult to type here.

Welcome to the light side ;)

1. I was thinking the same thing about the letters. Thought it was my key board, but no. Its not normally like that.
2. I believe we "lost" 10 cars. 2 F1 cars, 4 WRC cars, Ginetta G4, Jensen Interceptor, and something else.

Also worth noting- there is a decent amount of free DLC cars. There will be 18 free concept cars, tailor made for GT6 if you were unaware. Released periodically.

I am aware of the free Vision GT cars and I'm quite excited for them.

Sad to hear that the Jensen and Ginetta are gone, but if that's the majority of it you're in way better shape than FM5.

FYI, I'm still a big fan of the Forza franchise and FM4 is IMO the best racing game I have played so far... but I wanted more of that and MS/T10 won't sell it to me, so GT it is. I think GT has a nice... quirkiness about it. Something almost goofy about how straight-faced it is. It'll grow on me for sure.

I can see why. In my eyes they're completely different games. GT is, IMO, better for simming than FM, and you can learn a lot from it since each car has a description and the Museum Cards are cool. Forza is better at customization and sounds, GT is kinda straight forward. It's what I prefer.

Also, PD had always included "quirky" cars. Model T, Auto Union Streamliner, Moon Rover, the Espace F1...etc. I think it's great, others disagree.

Hopefully later on you can say GT6 was the best racing game you played :D

Honestly, the list of problems which people have with Gran Turismo's selection of cars is fairly long.

Sure, there's 1,200 cars, but when you're looking at nearly 30 variants of the Mazda MX-5 Miata and nearly 20 R34 Skylines... and then there's the downright bizarre cars such as the two WWII Volkswagens and the lunar rover, which hold historical significance but are questionable at racing, in a racing game. There are no high-definition Australian cars (and the only V8 Supercar is a 13-year-old Ford that's been with us since GT3), just a PS2-quality "standard" Monaro and Commodore.

Don't get me wrong, the GT car list has some real gems. There's the slew of beautiful classics which won the Polyphony Digital Trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, such as the Alfa TZ2...

...the Plymouth XNR...

...and the Aston DB3S (not confirmed for GT6, but will appear in a GT game at some point either in-game or DLC).

...and then there's the customs that take part in the SEMA GT Awards. We've got some excellent classic muscle cars and pro-touring cars. Like the Art Morrison Corvette (Matt Farah approved)...

...and the Grand Touring Garage Trans-Cammer Mustang.

So yeah. Ups and downs. It's far from perfect but that's the way it is.

Jenson and Ginetta are gone.......NOOOOOO how can i hybrid the jenson with a ls6 and vette chassis to create a interceptor S

The exact post 👍

So we have the Vision GT and the Vision GT Racing Series. Got a source for that?

Gran Turismo 6 players will soon be able to choose an alternative version of the virtual Mercedes-Benz super sports car. The "Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series" offers further enhancements over the regular show car which was presented as physical 1:1 model in California [LA Auto Show]. To ensure perfect downforce and therefore great handling stability in tough racetrack conditions on PlayStation 3, the Racing Series has a fixed rear spoiler while the show car version has an extending variant of this integrated into the boot lid.

PD isn't jumping generations though, which is probably the main reason the car list isn't being chopped at all. I imagine when we see them jump to the PS4, it'll be with a smaller car list. That's "progress" ;)

The board is hungry, it is a bit late in the day. In seriousness, if it's delayed on your phone, that's a slight setback that doesn't seem to manifest itself on a normal computer's browser.

Welcome to the 'Planet!

Pretty excited to hear the Hyundai Veloster & Geni Coupe will be in the game, I like those a lot.

Actually, the Veloster should probably be taken off the list; while it was seen being photographed prior to the game's release this summer, it doesn't appear on the list on the official GT site.

Likely DLC?

That happened to FM5?

Yes, and the issue is more complex than it seems. To give you a quick synopsis, FM4 launched with around 500 cars and by the end of all (reasonably priced) DLC, there were about 670 or so. From FM5's announcement it was touted as having "hundreds of cars" and "the most diverse car list ever". No interviewers ever asked what that meant until Gamescom, where just one (Xboxygen.fr) got the answer that there would be less cars than FM4. But no one really wanted to take that seriously.

At first T10 claimed that they were using "all-new" assets in the making of the game, that all old models had been cut out. Then they said that only models that weren't "AAA quality" were tossed. However, when screens of certain cars began to show up, fans could immediately tell that they were the same models, with the same inaccuracies as before, but with new textures and lighting optimization. When the final car list dropped, people were shocked (except me, I had felt odd about it the whole time). People began to conclude that Forzavista, a feature introduced in FM4 that allowed you to "explore" the car by opening hoods, doors, etcetera, was to blame, since every car had this feature. But now that people are getting their hands on the game, they're finding that not all of them have opening hoods and such...

Even worse is that many of the cars added as DLC to FM4, while they were making FM5 (they like to brag that they started work on FM5 before FM4). These cars were most definitely future-proofed, but a vast majority of them are now gone, including a lot of popular additions (Like the Ascari KZR1, Hudson Hornet, Maserati Biturbo, and Pontiac Fiero).

So if the models are ported over, and they aren't adding these new features they said they would, then they have been lost for no discernible reason, except to be sold back as DLC that is now twice as expensive.

Sorry about the rant there.

EDIT: I have no doubt that GT will be losing cars when it's going to next-gen... but they're in a different situation. A lot of Forza's car models were not two generations old, they would have worked fine with new textures (like only some of them got).

I sure hope so, Geni coupe release confirmed though, correct? Either way, usually just the Rally's and Tiburon, so deff. excited to hear more modern Hyundai's in here. Elantra GT's would be fairly interesting to see also, my dad is the GM for a Hyundai dealership down there I'm at so I've always loved Hyundai's.

Good post @Benjinator12. No one wants to lose cars, but its reasonable for the standards to not continue for future GT games. But something like this is sad. Witholding cars and tracks for dlc purposely without much if any actual improvement is definitely a sad thing. GT is no saint, but the excuses by T10 not adding up is telling.

I just found out the new GTR NISMO is confirmed for GT6. We are covering the car at its unveiling this week and I found out it features a telemetry recorder that allows you to reproduce and compare your real life driving in the car to the GT6 game version. I think its is similar to what you could so with the Toyota 86/FRS. but its interesting as is does confirm the car at some point in time in the near future
