Starting in 2014 there is no ALMS. it and the Rolex series are merging. so this shouldn't be an issue if it is indeed the reality of it.

Actually, they've been merged for a couple years, now. Last year, however, they had to iron out the details of the coming season.

Yes. The first race in in January, but the two sanctioning bodies have been merged since 2012. Actually, I believe ALMS and Grand Am started out splitting from the IMSA back in 1999 with IMSA primarily presiding over the ALMS and now the two series have re-merged to become the NEW IMSA Tudor United Sports Car Series.

Nope, announced 2012, merger 2014. ALMS still ran as an IMSA series as usual in 2013.

I'm not going to argue when it's commonly-known that the USCR starts in 2014.

I know. I've actually been following this for some time. The two series will be officially back together next year, however, the announcement was that they had decided to merge together to form a new racing series. In 2013, ALMS and Grand Am decided on the race schedule and classes for the 2014 season.

Speaking of the Tudor series, I decided to update my avatar to coincide with it. :P Riley Motorsports Viper GT3-R

Yep the two different organisations...

GT 5 and forza 4 helped me with my race at Laguna seca back in June, I grand slammed it with 3 wins in scca spec Miata.

And Forza 4 helped me for a race at infinion raceways earlier this month.

Sims don't teach you to race despite all arguments, but they do teach you lines, Rhythm, consistency, and focus.

And that is more about going fast and being smooth than racing and race craft.

The closest thing to racing a sim helps teach a real racer is quick decisions but there's is a lot more flow in a real race and things simply aren't as fast in real life and that's why it helps.

We have a saying in race driver instruction; "there are drivers that are fast that can't race, and there are good racers that aren't fast."

First you learn to be fast, then you learn race craft, the art of winning races. Race craft is a very complex science.

Not bringing these 2 criteria together is everyone who comes in second place or below in spec racing.

There is also a fear factor in real racing. Damage or not, who gives a crap about ramming a wall in a video game. There is a restart button...not in real life.
People really do underestimate this point... Iracing hits on this a bit but "fear" is a major consideration for all drivers.

If you are creative enough, can get you adrenalin up, and really take a race seriously, then you'll get a hint of the sensation. For many it was the first time they raced with a club they just joined online... Fear is static so worrying about how people perceive you online is a good sub for the sensation of real racing.

And fear of bodily harm is never a racers concern, we call that terminal fear and if detected they won't be allowed to get in a car... It's all the other fears against your reputation and wallet that you have to manage... Even if you caused a crash, you aren't liable for the other car but you still need to fix your own and pep boys won't be any help...

Seasonals won't be released until much later. 3am GMT on January 2nd.

Also, it should be interesting to see if, with GT7 being a PS4 title, Sony will leave the GT6 servers up and running for a while. We know that March will be the final day for GT5's servers, which will probably be switched over to GT6. But with GT6 being a PS3 game and GT7 being on the PS4, it would stand to reason that the GT6 servers would be left on for a little bit longer. Although, I would assume that will depend on GT7/PS4 sales at that point.

Maybe we should wait until GT7 is out before we start worrying about that...just sayin' :)

I'd expect them to be up as long as GT5's at the very least. Depending on how long we have to wait for GT7, and if it really does take less than 3 years for it to arrive, GT6 should stay online for a while after it's released.

And May 20th will be the final day. Not March.

Kind of strange to think if I wanted to play GT 5 a few years from not that I would put the disk in my old ps3 and get no updates... (I know this is different than live services but still, its a likely reality)

That would be like someone today going back to GT 4 and only experiencing a fraction of what we all experienced...

I guess these are the new times we live in... I still have a huge back catalog of current gen games that could last me for years... I wonder if ill be able to get through them before their services are shut down...

So what does DUB have to do with it? This isn't Midnight Club 3
I mean Lowrider.

isn't that what i said?
the announcement was a few years ago and even at the announcement they said it won't be fully merged until the 2014 season. so i am not sure what your reason was for posting.

I came into GT6 expecting a game similar to what GT5 should have been from the start. I have to say I'm honestly disappointed. PD is probably one of the worst game developers in terms of management, mostly because they can't seem to finish a single game on time anymore. Anything that is in the game is half-assed or glitched to death, and content feels lacking from GT5. (Theres like three special events what the hell?)

Want to know why Forza got better scores? Better physics, graphics, and the fact that the game went to quality, unlike PD who choose to stat-pad their car list by including three versions of one car. (Base model GT2 M3, BMW Motorsport M3 GT, and BMW M3 GT2, along with many, many more) Not to mention everything Forza was said to have at launch, it has 100%.

Calm down, sweetheart. There's more coming.
