GT6 Replays and Exporting

I've been looking at the brilliant videos people are making of GT6 on here and I'm left wondering how I upload them?

When GT5 was first released, I could upload them straight to YouTube but they patched it soon after where it then became a real ball ache to do upload them.

Is it now possible to save a Replay in GT6 and either export it as a .mpeg file or something else? I've not seen any straight to YouTube tools in the game.

Many thanks for any help!

No? It was supposed to be a feature in the game, but it never got there. You have to have a recorder to record your gameplay.

Could you not? I swear you could upload them and they took that feature away?

So you have to have a capture card or something similar to capture replays for GT6? That's a shame if so.

As far as I know, GT replay files are encrypted. You could put the replay file on a USB drive and pass it to your computer but you wouldn't be able to play it. I do believe you'll need a capture card to get the footage.

I really wanted that feature badly..
I think it's possible, to output our replay to a high def 60fps photomode quality video, or AT LEAST to a JPG sequence (which we can later convert it to mp4 in our PC). it's basically just telling the game to take a photo (in photomode quality) of each frame of the entire race.. of course the process will be very long.

Say 1 frame took about 10 seconds, then a 5 minute replay will take about:

5 x 60(seconds) x 60(fps) x 10(seconds) = 180000 secs. that's 50 hours.. LOL but I think it's worth it.

That's just a rough measure though.

They're not so much "encrypted" as they're not actual video files. Replay files are simply datalogs of what you and every other car in the race did...gas/brake/steering inputs, that are then recreated by the game engine when the file is "played."

Was just doing this, saw the export button and was like wait, this cannot be true and simply did it but no video file occurred just simple data logs IN GAME which was a pain but maybe the future with next gen or even DLC will allow is video editor or something, if they have enough to recreate your driving using the track GPS data via USB then they or should at least allow us to share our gameplay globally, like COD did with YouTube but apart from GT6 should allow to you to simply put the replay into your video folder via PS

Make a new thread.
ask for people who have HD recorders to record your gameplay
ask for the type of angles and at what time to start and what time to end.
rar the exported file and upload it so someone else is able to download it later on.

I have 160+ replays of time trials at Suzuka so far which I'd like to upload to Youtube as well, and I've been looking hard at this PVR Rocket. I wish I didn't have to blow $150+ just to do this. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

If you would like to export your replays UNCOMPRESSED then these two products are awesome for it:
BlackMagic Design - Intensity (to PC) : http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/au/products/intensity/
and
BlackMagig Design - Shuttle 2 (direct to SSD HDD) : http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/hyperdeckshuttle

You'll need editing software as well.
Also, having a AV reciever with dual HDMI output can be handy for those worrying about signal latency caused by the above products. You simply duplicate the output from your AV reciever so that one signal goes to your TV and the other goes to the Capture device.

Cheers,
Sam

there is an option to export replays to your PS3, were they go I've no idea. tried couple of times but can never find them.

There in the videos section on the XMB.

The replays that Ive exported show up in "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"... Still pretty useless - Grid2 also had a really kool option of exporting to youtube - im pretty pissed bc ill have to spend at least 80$ to capture some of the most fun moments in my life :/ aah well, its Capitalism :grumpy:

GALLERY> said replay in question>"EXPORT TO PS3 SYSTEM">save. then copy it VIA data Utility, first time ive done this.... ill edit it when i get it uploaded to my facebook :). then give you my entire process

Welcome to :gtpflag: but you seem to have responded to a 3 year old dead thread with a method that will not achieve the desired result.

To get a watchable video from GT6 to the Internet, you need a video capture device.

All you are doing is moving the replay instruction file and nothing but GT6 can use that.
