The next update:

The tech team working on PS5 Pro will have no involvement in 3D modelling, content creation or any aspect of DLC. In fact the last time we had a major technical update (PSVR2), it arrived with one of the biggest content updates to date. If you are interested in PS5 Pro or not, GT7 being heavily featured will boost sales and player numbers. It will also put PD in a good position for GT8 by updating their tools/engine to the cutting edge.

A demo at this stage of GT7's lifecycle suggest PD are far from done with the title. All indications are much more content will be coming down the line. If not, well, I guess GT8 is closer than many expect. People are expressing their frustrations because they have no idea what PD have planned. Personally, I'd be quite happy if PD moved to more substantial quarterly updates.
Hey man that's cool just asking then if these things aren't impacting content creation then where's the content output gone?

Just curious, has GT Sport ever gone two months without any content updates during its hay day? (Not including 2020-2021 updates)
It didn't, but it's also worth pointing out that as of mid-May this year, GT7 is older than GT Sport was at the start of 2020. We've got two content updates with a combined 11 cars and a track since then, with a demo and apparently more content planned according to data miners here.

Yeah this Demo is pretty clear that GT8 is not close and there is more to come for GT7.
I guess this game still sells pretty well + demo is going to encourage more players to buy it and updating GT7 is much cheaper than making a new game.

There is one reason to change the title of this thread to "Probably October" instead of "Maybe October" - the next round of Hagerty's price changes (mostly increases) is due that month.

Α 3-month update prediction!!!!

Neigh, 4 month, hurricane delays and alien invasions causing capitalism collapse are predicted on vegas/monte carlo gambling sites with odds that can not be ignored, It will be a religious winter solstice festivity surprise in August September October November December! YAY :NANU NANU: 🖖

If had not skipped June (or took what was the June update and combined with July), then I would say no August update.

But since they skipped June, I think we get a regular 3-4 car update.

  • Nissan R390 GT1 (monthly doom pick until it inevitably comes)
  • Buick GNX (datamine)
  • Autozam AZ-1 (datamine)
  • Honda Ridgeline Pickup Truck (wildcard pick… imo GT7 is overdue for a 3rd pickup truck)
Since we’re 2 months without an update, I’m enhancing my picks as now I think there will only be one more update this year. I will go with the popular opinion that this will be a big Spec III update that will consist of 3 months worth or regular updates.

Circuit:
  • Twin Ring Motegi
Cars:
  • Nissan R390 GT1 (doom pick)
  • A pickup truck (Honda Ridgeline or Chevrolet Silverado)
  • Ferrari 812 Superfast (datamine)
  • Renault Avantime (datamine)
  • Autozam AZ-1 (datamine)
  • Buick GNX (datamine)
  • 91 Mazda RX-7 (datamine)
  • Lances Delta Integrale Rally Car (datamine)
  • Toyota Celica 1600gt (datamine)
  • 2018 Aston Martin Vantage
  • 2 new circuits with Sophy AI
  • Multi-Class Racing Events (including option for custom races)
-PS5 Pro enhancements already announced

3 years into GT7 I'd expect PD's content team is working at full capacity.

What we don't know is their release schedule or even if said content is for GT7.

I think we're past the point where monthly updates are needed to keep players entertained. I want to see something more substantial, like a host of new Missions, full Sophy integration, or even a new game mode (Spec B?).

or even a new game mode (Spec B?).
Never got the hype for B-Spec if I'm being honest. In all the games it's been in, it's either been a cheap way to skip actually doing an event (GT4, GT6) or an excuse to massively bloat the career (GT5). Sure you could use it as a co-driver for endurances, but your Bob kinda just sucks at driving anyway.

Considering all the other experimental and innovative stuff the games actually succeeded in around that time (shuffle racing, seasonal events, community features), I'm surprised we don't get nearly as much nostalgia for those elements.

Not gonna lie. Having a B-Spec Bob (modern equivalent), in GT7, to swap in for Endurance stints, sounds incredible. Jumping between driving and managing your B-Spec driver sounds like a load of fun.

You missed the best part, online B-Spec in GT5. Your bobs could race the bobs of your PSN friends while you were away from the game, and thereby earn credits. Feature not included in GT6…

IMO, if B-Spec comes back, they need to go all out. Let us make a racing team, have a stable of drivers, and have us compete against other AI teams with their own backstories for both the team and drivers.

Make it a true management-lite mode. Not as deep as something like F1 Manager, but immerse us. Make it feel like we're watching our drivers battle it out for every point, every podium, possibly en route to a title.

Shuffle racing was awesome! I didn't play too much of it but I really enjoyed what I did. Really novel concept and it just gave the races such a cool feel. It also put cars in the spotlight which you might not otherwise see much, at least online.
