GT7 crashes PS5 when going into rest mode

Hi all,

This has happened a few times recently and only when leaving my PS5 on with GT7 running, but when I command it to "awaken, ye beast", it does the whole repairing console storage thing yaddayadda.

I see from Google searches this used to happen a lot back in the day a few years ago, but it only started a couple of months ago and specifically when it's G7 left open, hence asking here if anyone else is experiencing or has experienced this as a GT7 thing in the last couple of months?

Thanks

Yeah, it's a crappy problem that I ran into a bunch of times. I would wake it up to get a black screen and have to do a database rebuild or other things to get it to come back online.

Now I just don't put it in rest mode, which kind of sucks, but it's better than losing all my data! Recently I've also run into GT7 hanging on the initial loading screen requiring a re-start, so now I even close out GT7 specifically before shutting the PS5 down.

My first PS5 bricked itself after three days of ownership. I called Sony support and the woman on the phone recommended not putting it in rest mode, rather turning it all the way off. She also recommended the PS5 be plugged into its own outlet (ie, not share an outlet with other devices). Ever since then I close everything and turn it all the way off (I have it plugged into its own surge protector and flip that off too).

Maybe she was grasping at straws, but maybe not. Although I am sure there are millions of PS5s that use rest mode without issue, I don't want to risk it again. I was without it for almost two months before getting it back.

YMMV

PS - I said "my first" above because after receiving it back, about 18 months later it would freeze every time I tried to log in (even though I took all the above steps). This time, out of warranty, it would've cost half the price of a replacement ($230 if I recall?) to send it in again. Decided to cut my losses and bought new one. Thankfully, I have PS+ and didn't lose any saved data.

I ended up trading in the old one to Gamestop and got over $200 for it despite me disclosing the issue (I was able to wipe the HD first).
